Components Instruction and Maintenance

Double-Battery System

The e-bike features two batteries: the built-in frame battery is #1 (48V10AH), and the battery behind the seat tube is #2 (48V20AH). Each battery has an independent charging port and can be charged attached or detached. They also have independent anti-theft and power locks.

Battery Lock Positions:

  • Position A: Battery is unlocked. Both battery and key can be withdrawn. No voltage output.
  • Position B: Battery is locked, but no voltage output. The key can be removed. This position is recommended when not using the bike to prevent power consumption or theft.
  • Position C: Battery is locked with voltage output. The key cannot be removed.

Usage Suggestion: Use the #2 battery as the main power source and the #1 battery as backup. When riding, keep the #2 battery key at position C and the #1 battery key at position B. When the #2 battery is depleted, switch the #2 battery key to position B and the #1 battery key to position C for backup power.

Battery Maintenance

  1. Maintenance: If not using the battery for several days, keep it charged at approximately 75% capacity to minimize degradation. Periodically check the charge level monthly and recharge to 75% if needed.
  2. Charging:
    • Batteries can be charged attached or detached from the e-bike.
    • Use only the SAMEBIKE-provided charger.
    • Charge in dry spaces, avoiding extreme heat or cold.
    • Ensure no dirt or debris is present near the charger.
    • The charger light is red during charging and turns green when complete.
    • Avoid leaving the charger plugged in after the battery is fully charged.
    • Do not charge a damaged, excessively hot, leaking, smelly, or discolored battery.
    • Charging typically takes 4-6 hours for a mostly empty battery.
    • Store batteries indoors in a dry space, away from heat, flames, and direct sunlight.
  3. Safety:
    • Do not submerge the battery in liquid.
    • Do not touch battery terminals.
    • Turn off the battery when not in use and before removal.
    • Charging times may vary with battery age and usage.
    • Grip the charger plug, not the cable, when plugging/unplugging.
    • If charging issues occur, discontinue use and contact SAMEBIKE immediately.

Note: Lithium-Ion batteries can be dangerous. Handle with care during use and charging. Failure to follow guidelines may result in property damage or serious injury. Contact SAMEBIKE for any battery safety concerns.

Motor

The motor is the e-bike's drive system. Proper care ensures optimal performance.

  1. Daily Riding: Using PAS mode, especially on hills, reduces motor wear.
  2. Maintenance: Lubricate the motor at 100, 500, 1000-mile intervals, or as needed, to prevent noise. For damage avoidance, professional motor maintenance is recommended.

Derailleur

The SAMEBIKE is equipped with a 7-speed Shimano derailleur system (including freewheel, rear derailleur, gear, and shifter). This system allows for comfortable effort and pedaling speed across various terrains. Lower gears facilitate hill climbing, while higher gears enable higher speeds on flat or downhill terrain.

Headlight

The SAMEBIKE features a fully integrated headlight. It is strongly recommended to use the headlight when riding at night or in low visibility conditions.

Display

The e-bike has an LCD display that serves as the control board. The electronic system activates when the display is switched on. It shows riding data and indicates e-bike faults. Settings can be adjusted for a more pleasant riding experience. Refer to the display manual for basic operations.

Display Icons:

  • Under voltage
  • Ⓜ️ Motor Failure
  • ?️ Controller Failure
  • Brake Hints
  • ? Accelerator Failure
  • ? Communication Failure
  • ? USB Charging Hints
  • ⏱️ Cruise activated

E-Bike Maintenance

  1. Storage: Store your e-bike in a clean, dry place to prevent rust. The e-bike is not waterproof; store and ride in a dry environment. Water damage is not covered under warranty.
  2. Monthly Maintenance:
    • Inflate tires to the recommended pressure: 25-30psi (use a small or manual inflator).
    • Lubricate the chain to ensure quiet drivetrain operation.
    • Check that all hardware is properly tightened.
    • Inspect brake pads for wear and replace if necessary.
    • Check the e-bike's shifting performance and adjust the derailleur if needed.
    • Clean the e-bike with a low-residue cleaner, dry thoroughly, and lubricate as necessary.
    • Check spoke tension and adjust if necessary.
  3. Quarterly Maintenance:
    • Perform all monthly maintenance checks.
    • Check tire tread for excessive wear and replace if necessary.
    • Ensure electrical connectors and cable housings are secured away from moving parts and are free from damage; replace if necessary.
    • Consider a tune-up by a certified and reputable bike mechanic.

Safety

Helmets and Local Laws

Always wear a helmet that fits securely. Before riding, familiarize yourself with and comply with local laws regarding e-bike usage. If a child seat is attached, ensure the child also wears a properly fitted helmet.

Pre-ride Safety Check and Inspection

Before each ride, inspect your e-bike for loose fasteners or accessories. Pay special attention to the front and rear axles, handlebars, and handlebar stem. Check tire pressure and ensure brakes are functioning correctly. Verify that the handlebar and frame latches are fully closed and locked; the handlebar latch has a safety pin that must be inserted sideways to prevent accidental opening.

Riding in Wet Conditions

The e-bike can handle light rain and splashes but is not designed for heavy rain, showers, or submersion in water. Exercise caution in wet conditions, as braking distances increase and tires may slip. Electrical components are not waterproof, and water damage is not covered by warranty.

Riding at Night

Riding at night increases risk due to reduced visibility. Ensure reflectors are installed and that the front headlight and rear taillight are on and properly adjusted for visibility to others. Riders should wear bright-colored clothing.

Max Load

The maximum load capacity is 330 lbs. Exceeding this limit can affect performance, damage the e-bike or rack, and cause injury. Load weight also impacts range and top speed.

Warranty

Every SAMEBIKE E-bike is covered by a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner. Warranty parts are shipped within the continental United States. If a bike is shipped to another country, parts will only be sent to the original shipping country.

Terms of Warranty

  1. This warranty applies only to the original owner of the SAMEBIKE e-bike.
  2. The following conditions do NOT qualify for warranty:
    • Damage due to improper assembly or use (operator error, water damage, extreme riding, stunt riding, improper maintenance).
    • Modification of the e-bike.
    • Damage from natural disasters, man-made disasters, or chemical attack.
    • Failure to provide proof (videos or pictures) for accessories not requiring return.
    • Damage caused by modification or addition/subtraction of accessories.
    • Damage to vulnerable or consumable items during normal use (e.g., accessory coating, inner tube, thread tube, order piece, sprocket, chain, pedal). This excludes damage from human injury, normal wear and tear.
