Quick Start Guide
This section guides you through the initial setup and basic operation of your Engwe Engine Pro 2.0.
2.1 Installation Guide
Warning: Ensure all parts are present before assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact customer service immediately.
2.1.1 General Installation Warnings
- Read all instructions before starting.
- Assembly requires basic mechanical skills. If unsure, seek professional assistance.
- Keep small parts away from children.
- Use the provided tools and hardware.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
2.1.2 Unpacking the Box
- Carefully open the main box.
- Remove the bike frame and all accessories.
- Check the contents against the packing list.
- Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
2.1.3 Handlebar Installation
- Remove the protective cover from the handlebar stem.
- Insert the handlebar stem into the fork's steerer tube.
- Align the stem with the front wheel.
- Secure the stem using the provided M5 screws and Allen key. Ensure it is firmly tightened.
- Adjust the handlebar angle for comfort.
2.1.4 Front Fender and Headlight Installation
- Attach the front fender to the fork using the provided M5 screws.
- Mount the front headlight to the designated bracket on the fork or frame.
- Connect the headlight cable to the corresponding connector on the bike's wiring harness.
2.1.5 Wheel Installation
- Install the front wheel into the fork dropouts. Ensure the wheel is centered.
- Secure the front wheel using the quick-release skewer or axle nuts.
- Install the rear wheel into the rear dropouts. Ensure the chain is properly engaged with the cassette.
- Secure the rear wheel using the quick-release skewer or axle nuts.
2.1.6 Saddle Installation and Adjustment
- Insert the seat post into the seat tube on the frame.
- Attach the saddle to the seat post clamp.
- Adjust the saddle height and angle for comfort. Ensure the seat post is inserted to the minimum insertion line.
- Tighten the seat post clamp.
2.1.7 Rear Fender and Rear Rack Installation
- Attach the rear fender to the frame using the provided M5 screws.
- Mount the rear rack onto the frame's mounting points.
- Secure the rear rack with the provided screws.
2.1.8 Rear Light Installation
- Mount the rear light to the rear fender or seat post.
- Connect the rear light cable to the bike's wiring harness.
2.1.9 Pedal Installation
- Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals.
- Thread the right pedal clockwise into the right crank arm.
- Thread the left pedal counter-clockwise into the left crank arm.
- Tighten both pedals securely using a pedal wrench.
2.1.10 Final Assembly Check
After completing the installation, perform a thorough check:
- Ensure all screws and bolts are tightened.
- Check that the wheels spin freely.
- Verify that the brakes are functioning correctly.
- Ensure the battery is securely installed.
- Check that all cables are properly connected and routed.
2.2 Folding Method
To fold the bike:
- Release the quick-release lever on the handlebar stem. Fold the handlebars down.
- Release the quick-release lever on the frame. Fold the frame in half.
- Release the quick-release lever on the seat post. Lower the seat post.
- Secure the folded bike using the magnetic clasps if available.
2.3 Battery Removal
To remove the battery:
- Ensure the bike is powered off.
- Locate the battery lock mechanism on the frame.
- Insert the key and turn it to the unlock position.
- Gently slide the battery out of its compartment.
2.4 Charging Method
There are two ways to charge the battery:
- Direct Charging from Frame: Connect the charger to the charging port on the bike frame and then to a power outlet.
- Charging the Removed Battery: Remove the battery (see 2.3) and connect the charger to the battery's charging port, then to a power outlet.
Note: Use only the original charger. Do not use the charger if the cable is damaged. Fully charge the battery before the first use. Ensure the battery is fully charged before storing the bike for a long period. It is recommended to charge the battery at least once every 2-3 months if stored.
2.5 Quick Usage
Display Settings:
The display allows you to customize various settings. Access settings by pressing and holding the 'M' button. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to navigate and adjust values. Press 'M' to confirm and save.
- P01: Backlight Brightness: Adjusts the display backlight intensity (Level 0-3).
- P02: Unit Setting: Sets the speed unit (0: KM/H, 1: MPH).
- P03: Wheel Diameter: Sets the wheel diameter (10-32 inches). This is crucial for accurate speed display. The default is 26 inches.
- P04: Time Unit Setting: Sets the automatic shutdown time (0-60 minutes).
- P05: Power Assist Level: Sets the number of assist levels (1-5).
- P06: Wheel Diameter (again): Sets the wheel diameter (1-32 inches). This setting is critical for accurate speed readings.
- P07: Speed Unit: Sets the speed unit (0: KM/H, 1: MPH).
- P08: Max Speed Limit: Sets the maximum speed limit (1-25 km/h for EU version, 1-28 MPH for US version).
- P09: Throttle Mode: Sets the throttle mode (0: No throttle, 1: Throttle only, 2: Throttle and pedal assist combined).
- P10: Assist Start Mode: Sets the assist start mode (0: Manual start, 1: Boost start).
- P11: Driving Mode: Sets the driving mode (0: Pedal assist, 1: Electric only).
Note: This model does not support settings P12-P18.
Restore Factory Settings:
If you encounter issues or want to reset the display to default settings, navigate to P19 and select 'Y' to restore factory defaults.

3.1 Precautions on Electric Bike Use
- General: Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged before riding. Check that all screws and bolts are tightened.
- Handlebar and Saddle Adjustment: Adjust the handlebar and saddle height to suit your stature. Ensure the seat post and handlebar stem are fully inserted and secured.
- Power Connection and Adjustment: Ensure the battery is properly connected. Adjust the brake sensitivity as needed.
- Gear Adjustment: Adjust the gears for smooth shifting. If gears are not shifting correctly, consult a professional or the service center.
- Braking Instructions: Apply brakes smoothly and progressively. Avoid sudden braking, especially with the front brake only, as this can cause loss of control.
3.2 Vehicle Maintenance and Self-check
Regular Checks:
- Tires: Check tire pressure regularly (max 20 PSI for this model). Inspect for wear and damage.
- Brakes: Ensure brake levers are responsive and brakes are effective. Adjust if necessary.
- Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Check for wear and tension.
- Screws and Bolts: Periodically check and tighten all visible screws and bolts.
- Battery: Ensure the battery is securely locked in place.

Motor Maintenance:

4.1 After-Sales Service and Warranty Coverage
Warranty Principles:
This warranty applies to the original owner of the Engwe electric bike. The warranty period starts from the date of purchase.

- Tires, Tubes: 3 months
- Accessories: 1 month
Warranty Exclusions:
- Normal wear and tear.
- Damage caused by improper assembly, modification, or unauthorized repairs.
- Damage from accidents, misuse, or neglect.
- Tire punctures from sharp objects.
- Damage to the battery due to improper charging or storage.
- Cosmetic damage.
Warranty Service:
For warranty claims, contact the authorized dealer or Engwe customer service. Proof of purchase and the warranty card may be required. The manufacturer reserves the right to inspect the product and determine warranty coverage.
Attention: Limited warranty does not apply to any subsequent owner or other transferee of the electric bike.
