Watchgas ATEX Beacon Sounder

1. APPLICATION

The ATEX Beacon Sounder series explosion-proof audio and visual caution spotlight fittings (hereinafter referred to as light fittings) are designed for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas with explosive gas atmospheres (excluding coal mines) where IIA, IIB, and IIC explosive gases or vapors are present with T1 to T6 classifications. They are also suitable for Zone 21 and Zone 22 hazardous areas with combustible dust atmospheres.

These fittings are widely used for accident signal alarms or signal indications in environments such as chemical plants, stockrooms, fueling stations, oil drilling platforms, and the oil industry, where 10~24V DC/AC circuits are present.

• Enclosure: Die-casting copper-free aluminium with high-pressure static plastic spraying surface.
• Glass tube: High-strength borosilicate glass with light transmission ≥88%.
• Cable entries are supplied with plugs. Cable glands (DQM-II or DQM-III recommended) are available on request.

7. INSTALLATION

• Installation must be performed by a licensed professional.
• Before installation, verify that the parameters on the nameplate match the field environment.
• Remove the seal plug at the inlet entry, pass cables through the Ex-cable gland into the light fitting, and connect to the terminal. Ensure power connections are correct and secure lock bolts.
• For Zone 1 installations, only compound barrier cable glands are permitted. For Zone 2, both compound barrier and rubber seal cable glands are acceptable.
• The light fittings must be earthed internally and externally.
• Refer to Attached Drawing 2 for wiring details and the schematic diagram.

8. INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

• Regular maintenance is required to ensure product performance. Contact Watchgas for spare parts if needed.
• Always disconnect power before performing maintenance.
• Properly protect flameproof threads during maintenance.
• Ensure electrical clearance and creepage distances comply with standards.
• The 'intrinsic safety' buzzer control panel is encapsulated and must not be disassembled. Contact Watchgas for replacement if accidentally damaged.

11. STORAGE

• Store light fittings in a ventilated, non-dropping, and non-liquid warehouse.
• Recommended storage temperature: -40°C to +55°C.
• Recommended relative humidity: ≤95%.
• Keep surroundings free from corrosive gases that could damage metal and insulation.
