WatchGas SST4 Multi-Gas Detector
Quick Start Guide
Cautions and Special Conditions
All inspections must be performed in a clean and hazardous-free environment.
Clean the detector with a soft damp cloth and a neutral cleaner (e.g., ACL Staticide). Do not use solvents, soaps, or polishes.
This product is a gas detector, not a measuring device.
For optimal performance, periodically zero the sensor in a normal atmosphere (20.9% v/v O2) free of hazardous gas.
This equipment is intended for use in hazardous atmospheres in air with normal oxygen content not exceeding 21% v/v.
Refer to the 'Sensor Poisons and Contaminants' section before use (see SAFETY INFORMATION - READ BEFORE USE chapter).
Warnings
Ensure the monitor is switched on, and the sensor and audible port are unobstructed before use.
This detector is a personal safety device. It is your responsibility to respond properly to any alarm conditions.
Do not use the device if it appears damaged. Always inspect it before use for blocked filters and physical damage.
Periodically test sensor response by exposing the detector to a target gas concentration exceeding the alarm set point. Manually verify audible, vibration, and visual alarms are activated.
For safety reasons, this equipment must be operated and serviced by qualified personnel only.
Do not attempt to replace internal components, as this will void the intrinsic safety rating and warranty (unless replaced by an authorized WatchGas service technician using genuine parts).
Deactivating the detector by removing the battery may cause improper operation and damage.
The Li-ion battery presents a risk of fire, explosion, and chemical burn if misused. Do not disassemble, incinerate, or heat above 212°F (100°C). Batteries exposed to 266°F (130°C) for 10 minutes can cause fire and explosion.
Batteries must only be charged in a safe area free of hazardous gas.
Use only WatchGas chargers. Non-approved chargers can lead to fire and/or explosion. Wireless chargers must use a suitably approved SELV/PELV supply with a maximum voltage not exceeding 5V.
This instrument contains a lithium polymer battery. Do not disassemble or dispose of in fire. Do not mix with solid waste.
Used batteries must be disposed of by a qualified recycler or hazardous materials handler.
The internal battery is non-replaceable. End-users must not access internal components.
The equipment is intended for use in hazardous atmospheres with normal oxygen content not exceeding 21% v/v. Contact the manufacturer if the antistatic film is damaged.
Wireless charging must only occur in a non-explosive atmosphere.
⚠️ Any rapid increase followed by a decrease or irregular reading may indicate a dangerous concentration above the upper limit.
Prolonged exposure to certain flammable gas concentrations can affect sensor performance. Calibrate if a high flammable gas alarm occurs. Replace the sensor if necessary.
Do not expose the detector to electrical shocks or severe continuous mechanical shocks.
