Safety Information
Warning: Video/movie playback will not function while the vehicle is in motion. This is a safety feature to prevent driver distraction. Dashboard video/movie functions will only operate when the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is engaged. It is illegal in most jurisdictions for the driver to view video while the vehicle is in motion.
The safety notice is a reminder to drive responsibly and safely while using your mobile phone device or any application that is compatible with this unit.
It is especially recommended that a professional or authorized dealer install the unit.
This product can only be used in vehicles with a negative ground 12VDC power source.
To Avoid Damage or Injury:
- Do not remove the top or bottom covers of the unit.
- Do not install the unit in a location exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat or potential water splashes.
- Do not expose the unit to strong impacts.
- When replacing a fuse, use only one with the recommended rating. Using a fuse with the incorrect rating may cause the unit to malfunction.
- To avoid short circuits when replacing a fuse, disconnect the wiring harness.
- Use only the provided wiring harness and accessories.
- If you encounter problems during installation, consult your Jensen dealer.
- If the unit does not function correctly, reset it. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Jensen dealer or contact technical support at 1-866-382-5476.
- To clean the monitor, wipe with a silicone cloth or a soft cloth. Do not use a hard cloth or volatile solvents such as thinners and alcohol, as they may scratch the panel surface and/or remove printing.
- When the unit's temperature decreases (e.g., in winter), the liquid crystal inside the screen will become darker than usual. Normal brightness will return after using the monitor for a while.
- When extending battery, starter, or ground cables, be sure to use automotive-grade cables, or other cables with an AWG diameter of 16 or larger to prevent voltage drops.
- If the LCD is damaged or broken, do not touch the liquid crystal fluid. It may be hazardous to your health or fatal. If the LCD fluid comes into contact with your clothing or body, wash with soap immediately.

Preparation for Installation

Installation
Before you begin:
- Consult a qualified technician for instructions. Professional installation is always recommended.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the trim ring from the unit (if installed).
- Insert the release keys and remove the receiver mounting sleeve.
- Note: Most vehicles require an installation kit, wiring harness, and/or antenna adapter (all sold separately) to correctly install the main unit in the vehicle.
Step #1: Install Mounting Sleeve and Trim Ring
- Install the mounting sleeve into a dash kit (sold separately) or the dash opening, bending the tabs to secure the sleeve.
- Connect the wiring harness, microphone, and antenna to the radio chassis.
- Place the trim ring, ensuring the notched area is at the bottom.
- Slide the receiver into the mounting sleeve to secure.
Step #2: Connecting the LCD Screen to the Chassis
To connect the LCD screen to the unit, carefully push the LCD screen connector into the receiver chassis until you hear a click, as shown below.
Removing the LCD Screen from the Chassis
- Press and hold the two release buttons.
- Gently pull the display panel forward.
Step #1: Installing the 2-DIN Chassis Sleeve
Install the 2-DIN chassis sleeve using 4 M2.5*4 screws.
Install the 2-DIN chassis sleeve in the top of the chassis (as shown above) or the bottom of the chassis (as shown below).
Step #2: Install Side Mounting Brackets
The mounting brackets shown below or the optional vehicle mounting kit are not included.
Install the mounting brackets on the radio chassis or the 2-DIN chassis sleeve, depending on the chosen mounting option, as shown in Step 1 to the left.
Step #3: Complete Installation
Screen Rotation
The unit allows for screen rotation. The screen can be tilted up or down by 15 degrees and left or right by 25 degrees.

Note: When replacing a fuse, be sure to use the correct type and amperage. Using an incorrect fuse may cause damage. The unit uses one (1) 15-amp mini ATC type fuse located in the power connector.
Rear Camera Input: A rear-view camera (not included) can be used with the camera input.
Control Locations
The radio display features the following functions and controls:

General Operation
Power On/Off: Briefly press Power to turn the unit on or off. Press and hold to turn the unit off.
Volume: Turn the volume knob to increase or decrease the volume level.
Mute: Momentarily press MUTE to mute the audio; it will appear on the screen. Press MUTE again to return to the previously selected volume. Turning the volume knob while the volume is muted will also cancel the mute function.
Mode: Press SOURCE to cycle through the following operating modes: Radio/Phone BT/Audio BT/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/USB/Camera/EQ/AV/Settings.
Main Menu: You can also access the operating modes by selecting the corresponding icon on the main menu. Press the Home icon at the top left corner of the screen to display the OSD main menu. Press the corresponding icon (Radio/Phone BT/Audio BT/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/USB/Camera/EQ/AV/Settings) to select the desired source.
A/V Input: Connect external audio/video devices to the rear A/V input.
USB: Connect a USB flash drive to the rear USB input.
Reset: To resolve abnormal operation or if the unit is unresponsive, press the RESET button located on the front panel, as shown in the Control Locations section. The unit will reset the main processor to the default configuration.
Note: Use the tip of a ballpoint pen to access the reset button and restore the factory settings of the software.
General Operation (Continued)
From the main menu screen, select SETUP to access the settings menu and choose from eight categories represented by icons on the left side of the screen: General, Audio, Display, Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera, Region, and Version. Select the category and adjust any of the available options using the touchscreen.
General Settings:
- Language: Select between English and Spanish.
- Time Zone: Select the desired time zone.
- Date & Time: Adjust the day, month, year, hour, minute, and format.
- Beep Tone: Turn on or off.
- Daylight Saving Time: Turn on or off.
- Power Off Delay: Select 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, or Off.
- Factory Reset: Resets the unit to factory default settings.
- Right Hand Drive: Turn on or off. When turned off, it is in left-hand drive mode, and when turned on, it is in right-hand drive mode. The default setting is Off (left-hand drive mode).
Audio Settings:
- Balance/Fader: Select to adjust balance and fader settings.
- Subwoofer: Turn subwoofer control on or off.
- Subwoofer Frequency: Select the subwoofer frequency.
- Subwoofer Level: Select the subwoofer level from 0 to 14 (7 is the default).
- EQ: Select to adjust the equalizer settings.
- Loudness: Select to turn the Loudness feature on or off.
- Internal Amplifier: Select to turn the internal amplifier on or off.
- Default Volume: Select to adjust the default volume setting.
- Source Level: Select to adjust the source level setting.
Display Settings:
- Illumination Control: Select to turn illumination control on or off.
- Gray & Brightness Level: Adjust the gray level and brightness settings for day and night.
- LED: Select a color for the LED button lights.
- LED Animation: Select to turn LED animation on or off.
- Wallpaper: Select from three wallpaper options.
- Background Brightness: Adjust the background brightness.
Other Settings:
- WiFi: Turn WiFi on/off, reset password, or view the list of devices.
- Bluetooth: Turn Bluetooth on/off, Auto Connect, and Auto Response, view the device name, and clear phonebook names and numbers.
- Camera: Turn front and rear cameras on/off, invert camera view, turn parking assist on/off, adjust parking assist settings, and adjust rear view delay.
- Radio: Adjust region and turn TA and AF on/off.
- Version: View version information.
Audio Operation
From the Settings screen, press the equalizer icon (see #3 in On-Screen Controls) to adjust the equalizer (10-band tone control and 7 preset EQ settings), surround sound, and fader/balance controls.
AM/FM Tuner Operation
From the Main Menu, select the tuner icon in the Main Menu.
- Main Menu: Press Home to return to the main menu.
- Band: Press to cycle through three FM bands and two AM bands.
- Local / Distance: Press to toggle between local or distance tuning.
- Scan: Press to scan preset stations in the current band and listen to the first 3 seconds of each.
- Seek Down: Press to tune to a lower frequency.
- Keypad: Press to display the keypad.
- Seek Up: Press to tune to a higher frequency.
- Auto Store: Press to automatically search and store the six strongest stations in the current band. A total of 18 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored.
- Audio Settings: Press to access and adjust audio settings.
- Presets: To store a preset in the current band, tune to the desired station, then press and hold the desired preset number from the list. Press any preset in the list to begin playback of that station. (Press and hold for several seconds to switch between AS and PS).
USB Operation
From the main menu, tap the USB icon on the main screen.
- Main Menu: Press Home to return to the main menu.
- Current Mode: Displays the current operating mode.
- Back: Press to return to the previous screen.
- File Numbers: Displays the current file number and total files.
- File Information: Displays available information about the current file.
- Elapsed Time: Displays the elapsed/remaining time of the current track.
- Audio Settings: Press to access and adjust audio settings.
- Track Up: Press to advance to the next song.
- Random: Press to play all tracks in the current folder randomly, and again to play all tracks randomly. Press again to exit random mode.
- Play/Pause: Press to pause or resume playback.
- Track Down: Press to return to the beginning of the current track.
- Repeat: Press to repeat the current track and adjust to repeat all tracks in the current folder. Press again to exit repeat mode.

Notes:
- Due to continuous technological advancement, some USB flash drives may be incompatible with this unit.
- The following types of discs/files are not compatible: MP3 PRO format, MP3 playlists, RMP format, AAC, protected AAC, M4A.
- MP3 playback sequence starts from the root folder of the disc, USB flash drive, or SD card. Empty folders or folders that do not contain MP3 files will be skipped.
- ISO9660 Standards:
- The maximum number of folder layers is 8 (including the root folder).
- Valid characters for folder/file names are letters A-Z (all caps), numbers 0-9, and “_” (underscore). Some characters may not display correctly depending on the character type.
- This device can play discs in Joliet and other standards that comply with ISO9660. MP3s written in formats other than those mentioned above may not play or may not display file or folder names correctly.
- Some files may not display or play correctly, depending on sampling frequencies and bit rates.
- For best results, use the following settings when converting MP3 files: 128kbps or higher constant bit rate, 44.1kHz or higher sampling frequency.
Bluetooth Operation
Preparation for Bluetooth: Before you can use a Bluetooth device to make hands-free calls or stream audio, it must be authenticated. This is also known as "pairing" a device.
Pairing a New Device: The unit broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are currently connected. Complete the pairing sequence from the Bluetooth device. Refer to your device's user manual for more details. The device name is "CAR1013". The unit can be in any operating mode for the pairing process. On some phones, it may be necessary to do this more than once.
Connection: The main unit will automatically connect to the last connected device when the connection function is set to Auto Connect On. If the connection function is set to Auto Connect Off, the main unit will not automatically connect to any device.
Bluetooth Menu: From the main menu, press Bluetooth on the screen. The Bluetooth icon will appear each time a Bluetooth device is connected.
- Main Menu: Press Home to return to the main menu.
- Keypad: Press to display the keypad.
- Contacts: Press to display the contact list.
- Recents: Press to display the list of recent calls.
- Device: Press to display the list of devices.
- Phone Number: Displays the phone number as it is dialed.
- Backspace: Press to erase when dialing a phone number.
- Talk: Press to connect the call.
- Phone Keypad: Use the phone keypad to dial the phone number.
Ending a Call: Press to end a call in progress or reject an incoming call.
Microphone: Press to turn the microphone voice on or off.
Phone Keypad: Press to dial the phone number.
Audio Transfer: Press to transfer audio between the unit and the phone.
Previous Track: Press to return to the previous file or track.
Play/Pause: Press to play or pause DVD playback.
Next Track: Press to advance to the next file or track.
Music by Bluetooth: Press to transfer audio between the unit and the mobile phone.
Driving Orientation Setup
To enhance the driving experience, the CAR1013 allows the user to set up Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for vehicles with left-hand drive (LHD) or right-hand drive (RHD).
To select the desired configuration, select LHD or RHD from the Settings menu.
Note: If you change the driving mode configuration (right-hand or left-hand drive) while the phone is connected to the receiver, disconnect the phone from the receiver and reconnect it.
The resulting configuration options are shown below:
Apple CarPlay Operation
Apple CarPlay is an intelligent interface for iPhone that allows for voice control of music, navigation, phone, and messaging applications, significantly reducing driver distraction.
- Phone: Use Siri to make calls, return missed calls, listen to voice messages, and view caller ID on the receiver's screen.
- Messages: Ask Siri to send, read, and reply to text messages. This hands-free operation minimizes distraction and allows the driver to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
- Music: Access music by artist, song, playlist, and more via the receiver's touchscreen. The receiver will identically mirror the iPhone's screen with artist and track information.
- Maps: Use Siri to request turn-by-turn directions – search by address or points of interest. Apple Maps will be identically mirrored on the screen, including traffic information and directions.

Getting Started with Apple CarPlay
Description of Wireless CarPlay Connection:
- Enter the main UI and click BT Phone to enter the Bluetooth interface.
- Click refresh to search for nearby Bluetooth, then click pair to match with Bluetooth. Turn on your iPhone's WLAN to connect to the car. Once the connection is successfully made, the CarPlay icon will appear in the device list, indicating that the CarPlay connection has been successfully established.
- Enter the CarPlay interface, then click on the Phone / Music / Map / Information functions, etc.
Note: For safety reasons, CarPlay features are limited while driving and will vary with each CarPlay-enabled application. Available features are determined by each individual application provider. For more information, visit www.apple.com/ios/carplay.
Note: In your location, some iPhone functions may be illegal while driving, so you must be aware of and obey those restrictions. If you have doubts about a particular function, only use it while the car is parked. No function should be used unless it is safe to do so under the driving conditions you are experiencing.
When the CarPlay menu is displayed, the Home button in the bottom left corner functions the same as the Home button on your iPhone.
Press and hold to call Siri and begin your voice commands.
At any time during CarPlay operation, you can press this button momentarily to return to the main menu screen.
Press any application button on the CarPlay main menu to directly access that operation. The toolbar on the left side of the screen displays the time, signal strength, and shortcuts to the most popular applications - Phone, Music, and Navigation – for quick and easy access without returning to the main menu.
Apple CarPlay Control:
The following controls will operate many standard CarPlay features:
- Tap: Briefly press the desired option.
- Swipe: Briefly swipe your finger in the desired direction.
- Drag: Press, hold, and drag to the desired location.
Exiting Apple CarPlay:
Disconnecting your iPhone will automatically stop CarPlay mode. To exit CarPlay mode while your phone is connected, momentarily press the Connection/Volume knob, and the unit's main menu will be displayed.
Android Auto Operation
Android Auto brings the most useful applications to your phone's screen or your car's compatible screen in a format that makes it easy to keep your focus on driving. You can control things like navigation and maps, calls, text messages, and music.
- Google Assistant: With your Google Assistant in Android Auto, you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel while using your voice to help you through your day. Just say "Ok Google," or in compatible cars, press and hold the voice control button on your steering wheel.
- Navigation: Receive real-time traffic alerts to avoid hazards, detect traffic-controlled areas, and find the fastest route. Or, take a break and find a place to grab a bite along the way.
- Calls and Messages: Your Google Assistant allows you to stay connected while driving. Your Assistant can help you call phone numbers from your contacts, chat with your favorite apps, read your messages aloud, and send text messages, keeping your hands on the wheel.
Compatible Devices:
Android Auto requires the Google Play Android Auto app installed on an Android smartphone with Android Lollipop 5.0 or higher.
Warning: It is possible that certain uses of a smartphone may not be legal while driving in your jurisdiction, so you must be aware of and obey those restrictions. If you have doubts about a particular function, only use it while the car is parked. No function should be used unless it is safe to do so under the driving conditions you are experiencing.
Starting Android Auto
Description of Automatic Wireless Android Connection:
- Enter the main UI and click BT Phone to enter the Bluetooth interface.
- Click refresh to search for nearby Bluetooth. Turn on your phone's WLAN before connecting to Bluetooth. Otherwise, the connection will fail.
- Click pair to match with Bluetooth. There will be a notification to select the configuration and select your mobile phone, then the Android Auto connection will be successful.
- Enter the Android Auto interface and click on the Phone / Music / Map / Information functions, etc.
Note: When the device for Android Auto is connected to this unit, the device is also connected via Bluetooth at the same time. If there are already five paired devices, a message will appear confirming that one of the registered devices must be deleted. If you wish to delete a device, tap [Accept]. If you wish to delete another device, tap [BT Settings] and delete the devices manually.
Note: If Android Auto is turned on during a call on a cell phone that is not the Android Auto compatible device, the Bluetooth connection will switch to the Android Auto compatible device after the call.
The Android Auto home screen displays personalized information, such as time to your destination, reminders, recent calls, incoming messages, the song you are listening to, and Google Now cards.
When the Android Auto menu is displayed, you can say "OK Google" or select the microphone in the upper right corner to speak with Google.
Exiting Android Auto:
To exit Android Auto, press the Exit button. When you disconnect your Android phone, it will automatically exit Android Auto mode.
Rear RCA Input / Rear Camera Operation
A/V Input: Connect an optional audio/video source to the rear RCA input. Adjust the volume of the external audio source as needed (if connected to the device's headphone output).
Rear Camera Operation (Optional):
- Using the Rear Camera: Connect an optional camera to the front or rear camera input. Refer to the wiring diagram for details.
- Automatic Selection: The unit will automatically select camera mode when connected to the reverse light circuit.
Tap the CAMERA icon in the Main Menu (when enabled) to activate camera mode. Tap the upper left area of the screen to return to the Main Menu and deactivate this function.
Note: Manual mode is for dedicated cameras that are connected to the 12VDC+ ignition wire and are always active while driving. It is not designed for cameras connected to the vehicle's reverse light.
Adjusting the Camera Image on the Screen: If your front or rear camera image appears reversed on the radio display, enter the Camera section in the Settings menu to invert the camera image. To do this, turn the "Invert Rear Camera View" or "Invert Front Camera View" function on or off to correct the viewing angle of the camera(s).
SWC Input Operation
The built-in SWC interface is compatible with PAC steering wheel control modules. The PAC SWI-RC or Axxess ASWC-1 is recommended. An external adapter must be used for the CAR1013 to be compatible with any steering wheel control. The following controls are available for most vehicles.
Note: Not all OE steering wheel functions may be supported by the CAR1013.
Tips for Installing the PAC SWI-RC:
- Adjust the "Radio Selector." Set the SWI-RC to position 7 - "Pioneer/Other/Sony."
- To program, use the radio function assignment order for Pioneer/Sony/Other for Jensen units.
- When programming the SWI-RC, if a function is not supported (or not desired), that function should be skipped according to the PAC SWI-RC instructions.
- The SWC function must be programmed in the correct order according to the PAC SWI-RC radio function mapping order instructions.

This warranty covers all defects in material and workmanship in this product. The following are not covered: software, installation/removal costs, damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, product modification, improper installation, incorrect voltage line, unauthorized repair, or failure to follow product instructions, or damage incurred during product return shipping. What to Do?
- Before calling technical service, check the troubleshooting guide in the manual. A small adjustment of a control may save you a service call.
- If you need technical service during the warranty period, you must carefully pack the product (preferably in its original packaging) and ship it prepaid via freight to an authorized technical center, along with a copy of the original receipt.
- Describe the problem in writing and include your name, a UPS shipping address (we do not accept P.O. Boxes), and a daytime phone number with your shipment.
