Product Description
The DRDN20 series is a 20A redundancy module designed to enhance the operational reliability of power supply systems. It supports 12V, 24V, and 48V input voltages and is compatible with both N+1 and 1+1 redundancy configurations. The module features two DC input channels and a single output. Utilizing MOSFET technology, it effectively reduces heat loss and minimizes voltage differences between input and output. Integrated DC OK relay contacts provide output status monitoring. The DRDN20 operates across an ultra-wide temperature range (-40°C to +80°C) and boasts a compact 32mm width.
Model Encoding
The model number follows the format DRDN20 - [Input Voltage]. For example, DRDN20-24 indicates a 24V input version with a 20A output capacity for the DIN Rail Redundancy Module.

Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the module's internal connections. Two input voltage sources (Vin 1 and Vin 2) are connected to the DRDN20 module. The module provides a single output voltage (Vout) and a functional ground (FG) connection. Additionally, it features two DC OK alarm signals (Alarm1 and Alarm2), typically implemented as relay contacts, which indicate the status of the power supply units.
DC OK Relay Contact
The DC OK relay contacts have the following ratings and behavior:
- Contact Ratings (max.): 30Vdc / 1A resistive load.
- Contact Close (DC OK): Occurs when the PSU is turned on and operating correctly.
- Contact Open (DC Fail): Occurs when the PSU turns off or experiences over/under input voltage conditions.
Derating Curves
Derating Curve: This graph illustrates the relationship between ambient temperature and the maximum load percentage the module can handle. It shows that the module can operate at full load up to approximately 60°C, after which derating is necessary as temperature increases.
Output Derating VS Input Voltage: This graph displays the output load percentage that can be sustained across various input voltage levels. The module is designed to maintain its rated output load across its specified input voltage ranges (e.g., 12V, 24V, 48V nominal inputs).
Typical Application Notes
1+1 Redundancy
In a 1+1 redundancy setup, one additional Power Supply Unit (PSU) is used as a backup to ensure continuous operation. Two AC-DC Power Supplies, each rated for 20A, are connected to the DRDN20 module, which then provides a combined 20A output to the load.
1+N Redundancy
For increased reliability, a 1+N redundancy configuration uses multiple PSUs as redundant units. This setup involves connecting several AC-DC Power Supplies (e.g., 20A each) to the DRDN20 module, which aggregates their output to supply the load.
Single Use
Connecting a single PSU to the DRDN20 module can help reduce stress on the MOSFETs within the PSU, thereby enhancing its overall reliability. This configuration involves one AC-DC Power Supply connected to the DRDN20, which then outputs to the load.

This series is compatible with DIN Rail TS35/7.5 or TS35/15. For detailed installation procedures, please refer to the official Instruction Manual available at: MEAN WELL Manuals.
Important Notes
- All parameters are measured under normal input conditions (12V/24V/48V), rated load, and at an ambient temperature of 25°C, unless otherwise specified.
- Derating may be required at higher ambient temperatures; consult the derating curve for details.
- For operating altitudes above 2000m (6500ft), derating of 3.5%/1000m for fanless models and 5%/1000m for fan models applies.
- The power supply is considered an independent unit. The final equipment must comply with EMC directives. Refer to EMI testing guidelines for component power supplies for EMC compliance.
