Technical Diagrams and Curves
Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the internal structure of the power supply. It shows the signal flow starting from the Input (I/P) which goes through an EMI Filter, then to a Rectifier & PFC stage, followed by a Switching stage. This is then processed by Rectifiers & Filter before reaching the Output (+V, -V). The diagram also indicates protection circuits such as O.T.P. (Over Temperature Protection), O.L.P. (Over Load Protection), and O.V.P. (Over Voltage Protection), all managed by a Detection Circuit. A Functional Ground (FG) connection is also present. The switching frequency (fosc) is specified as 85KHz.
Derating Curve (Convection)
This graph shows the power derating based on ambient temperature for convection cooling. The Y-axis represents Load (%) and the X-axis represents Ambient Temperature (°C). The curve indicates that the power supply can operate at 100% load up to approximately 50°C. Beyond this point, the load capacity decreases, reaching 0% load at around 85°C.
Output Derating VS Input Voltage
This graph illustrates how the output power (Load in Watts) varies with the input voltage (VAC). It displays different derating curves for specific models. For example, the 12V and 15V models (EPP-120S-12, EPP-120S-15) are rated for 114W convection, while the 24V, 27V, and 48V models (EPP-120S-24, EPP-120S-27, EPP-120S-48) are rated for 120W convection. The graph shows that the maximum rated power is maintained across a significant input voltage range, typically from 90-264VAC for the 120W models and 80-264VAC for the 114W models.
Mechanical Specifications
The power supply has overall dimensions of 76.2mm (Length) x 50.8mm (Width) x 28mm (Height), which is equivalent to 3" x 2" x 1.1". The mechanical drawing shows the layout of key components including the AC input connector (CN1), DC output connector (CN100), fuses (FS1), capacitors (C1, C5, C100, C105, C119), and heatsink (HS1). It is noted that HS1 must maintain a safety isolation distance with the system case.

Notes
- Note 1: EPP-120S models deliver EMI Class B for both conducted emission and radiated emission when configured into a Class I (with FG) system.
- Note 2: EPP-120S models deliver EMI Class B conducted emission and Class A radiated emission with King Core K5B RC (12*15*7) in the output cable when configured into a Class II (no FG) system.
- All parameters not specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load, and 25°C ambient temperature.
- Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uF & 47uF parallel capacitor.
- Tolerance includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- Derating may be needed under low input voltages. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- The ambient temperature derating of 3.5°C/1000m for fanless models and of 5°C/1000m for fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m (6500ft).
- The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 360mm*360mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to "EMI testing of component power supplies."
