Warning & Warranty Information
Warning: The device has positive buoyancy. Always attach the lanyard to prevent loss.
Register Your Products to Active Warranty
Deteknix Scuba Tector provides a limited warranty to the original purchaser against defects in workmanship and material under normal use for one year from the date of purchase. Exceptions include:
- Warranties void if the electronic part is opened.
- Batteries are warranted for 90 days.
- Cosmetic discoloration of surfaces.
- Water flooding caused by a faulty battery cap seal.
Deteknix is not liable for any further loss, damages, or expenses, including incidental or consequential damages, arising from the sale or use of this product.
Do & Don't
- Always ensure the battery cap is tightened before entering the water. Open the battery cap with clean hands only.
- Always store your detector fully charged.
- Always rinse the equipment in fresh water after every dive.
- Always apply silicone grease after cleaning the O-ring.
- Never leave your equipment in a rinse bucket, as it may be damaged by other equipment.
Sensitivity Adjustment
When the device is powered on, press and hold the Mode button, then quickly press the Power button to change the sensitivity level. Levels range from 1 to 4, with 4 being the highest. Each level change is confirmed by an extra beep, with level 4 providing a long beep.
Alarm Modes
When powered on, quickly press the Mode button to cycle through three different alarm modes: Beep only, Vibration only, or Beep and Vibrate.
Losing Mode: If the device detects no alarm or operation for 3 minutes, it will start to beep at a certain frequency. This serves as a reminder to power off the device or to pick it up.
Power Saving Mode: The probe will automatically turn off after 3 minutes of alarming in Losing Mode to conserve battery life.
Programing Features
While powered on, press and hold the Mode button for 4 seconds to enter LED light control programming. The indicator and flashlight will both light up. Quick presses of the Mode button allow you to switch between four modes: indicator only, flashlight only, all off, or all on.
Tuning Function: Under Expert Mode, a quick press of the Power button activates or deactivates the retune function.
Retrieve Target
Scanning: Swing the detector in an overlap style.
Pinpointing: Use the side coil to pinpoint the target's exact location.
Retune Function: This function is designed for ground balancing in high mineralization conditions or for narrowing down the target position. The Xpointer family utilizes Pulse Induction technology, which is unaffected by saltwater or black sand environments. Use this function to get closer to the target. A quick press of the Power button mutes the alarm, allowing you to move until the target is detected again. The function can also be turned off for simpler operation.
Low Battery Indicator
When the probe's flashlight starts to blink at a certain frequency, it indicates that the device needs recharging. You can still use the detector, but its sensitivity may be slightly reduced.
Recharging
It is strongly recommended to use a quality wall charger for recharging. A full charge typically takes about 2-3 hours.
Using a laptop or desktop computer's USB port may provide lower power, resulting in longer charging times.
The probe's blinking light will stop when it is fully charged. The USB cable can remain connected inside the recharge house after charging.
Battery Cap Removal
To remove the battery cap, hold and twist it counter-clockwise to loosen. To re-tighten, hold and twist clockwise. Be cautious of cross-threading the cap and body when tightening.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Device
1. Use tap water or a clean cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. 2. Wipe the device with the damp cloth. 3. Thoroughly dry the device. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents, as they can damage plastic components.
The device is waterproof to 60M/200FT and can withstand immersion in water up to 60M/200FT for 30 minutes. After submersion, ensure you wipe the device dry and air dry it before using or charging.
Do not store the device where it may be exposed to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods, as this can cause permanent damage.
O-Ring Care
Clean any dust, sand, or fabric if spotted on the O-ring. Even a tiny grain of sand can cause water ingress.
Apply quality silicone O-ring grease thoroughly.
Change the O-ring at least once a year, using qualified original parts only.
Dive Mode Control
Activation:
Tilt the unit upside down 3 times to activate detection mode (DMA). The red indication LED will blink twice every 3 seconds, indicating it is ready to search.
Deactivation:
Keep the coil held up for 5 seconds to return to No Standby Mode (DMS). The red indication LED will blink once every 3 seconds. The unit remains powered on until it is turned off in snorkeling mode.
Notice: When in deep water, pressing both buttons down simultaneously will automatically switch the detector to dive mode.
