User Manual

This document provides instructions for operating the Novy Pendant light. It is available in Dutch (NL), French (FR), German (DE), and English (EN).

Product Information

This product contains an ambient light source of energy efficiency class G.

This product contains a functional light source of energy efficiency class F.

⚠️ Light source (LED only) and driver can only be replaced by a recognised installer.

Provide an on-off switch at mains power supply.

1. Gesture Control (GC) Operation

The Gesture Control (GC) is operated by a sensor located in the center of the light object, indicated by an icon. The sensor has a range of 15cm below the Novy Pendant.

All movements lower than 15cm are not responded to by the sensor.

2. Switching the Lighting On and Off

The lighting can be activated in 2 ways:

By moving your hand from left to right or right to left underneath the sensor.
By holding your hand underneath the sensor for more than 1 second.

3. Changing the Light Balance (Top to Bottom)

Balance more towards the top: Holding your hand closer to the sensor will move the light towards the top of the Novy Pendant.

Balance more towards the bottom: Holding your hand further from the sensor (but no further than 15cm!) will move the light towards the bottom of the Novy Pendant.

4. Changing the Colour at the Top

By holding your hand close to the sensor for 2 seconds, the light on the top side of the Novy Pendant will change to a preset colour.

5. Setting the Colour

To change the colour of the mood setting, first go to the mood mode in the preset colour (as described in step 4). Next, hold your hand under the sensor for another 4 seconds until the coloured light pulses. You are now in the colour setting mode.

When you have reached the desired colour, remove your hand. After 4 seconds, the pulsing will stop, and the chosen colour will be set as the default colour and saved.

6. Service and Troubleshooting

In case of technical problems, contact your (kitchen) supplier and/or Novy Customer Care Service.

Installation Instructions

Follow these steps carefully for installation. Ensure the power supply is switched off before starting.

⚠️ Before starting the installation, make sure that the voltage on the wiring to be used is switched off!

1. Determine the Preferred Position

Measure the distance between the 2 suspension points and mark the holes to be drilled on the ceiling. Drill the marked holes.

2. Fixing to Ceiling

As shown in the diagrams: Pass the steel wire through the suspension bracket and mount the bracket. On the other side, attach the mounting sleeve to the ceiling (this consists of two components). Pass the second steel wire through the bushing provided and screw it onto the bracket you just attached.

3. Preparing to Mount the Ceiling Cap

Lead the power cord through the ceiling cap. On the other side, push the steel wire through the centre hole.

4. Hanging the Novy Pendant

Now hang the Novy Pendant by pushing both steel wires through the adjustment bushings. Make sure the cable does not damage the fitting! Mount the Novy Pendant at the desired height and remove the excess steel wire.

5. Connecting Wiring to Ceiling Socket

Always use the supplied insulated terminal block and ensure it is connected correctly. Connecting the ground wire is not necessary (class 2 product). Remove the wiring from the central box through the black grommet of the terminal block as shown in the drawing. Then click the 2 parts together and make sure you hear a click.

6. Cutting the Power Cord to Length

The Novy Pendant has a standard supplied power cord of around 4.5 metres. In most situations, this will be too long. When the Novy Pendant is hanging at the right height, measure the required length and cut the power cord.

7. Connecting the Novy Pendant Wiring to the Central Box

Fit the power cord into the second part of the terminal block. Also connect the wiring from the centre box as shown in the drawing. Then click the 2 parts together and make sure you hear a click.

8. Mounting the Ceiling Cap

Slide the ceiling cap over the steel wire up to the ceiling. Conceal the wiring and fix the ceiling cap. If desired, the power cord can be neatly mounted against the cable with the supplied cable clips.

9. Turn the Power On

⚠️ CAUTION: When switching on, the sensor will automatically calibrate itself. Make sure there are no objects less than 15cm below the Novy Pendant. This may interfere with the calibration.

Operation and Maintenance

External Factors Affecting Operation

Novy products operate with infrared sensors. External factors can affect performance:

Bright sunlight reflecting off shiny objects.
Direct radiation from halogen spotlights or incandescent lamps at the underside of the fixture.
Proximity sensor of mobile phones.

Excessive amounts of steam may be recognized as a hand gesture.

Cleaning

The fixture can be cleaned using simple soapy water. Do not use excess water. For removing stubborn stains, use a mild degreaser. Preferably use a microfibre cloth.

⚠️ CAUTION: Cleaning the black sensor film should be kept to a minimum to avoid scratch formation. Scratches on the foil can negatively affect the operation of the sensors. Clean film with a microfibre cloth at all times.
