This document provides detailed information for the AVMATRIX PKC3000 PTZ Camera Joystick Controller.
Using the Unit Safely
Before using this unit, please read the following warnings and precautions for proper operation. This manual should be saved for future reference.
Warning And Cautions
- To avoid falling or damage, do not place this unit on an unstable surface.
- Operate the unit only on the specified supply voltage.
- Disconnect the power cord by the connector only; do not pull on the cable.
- Do not place heavy or sharp-edged objects on the power cord. A damaged cord can cause fire or electrical shock hazards. Regularly check the power cord for wear or damage.
- Do not operate the unit in hazardous or potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Do not use this unit in or near water.
- Do not allow liquids, metal pieces, or other foreign materials to enter the unit.
- Handle with care to avoid shocks during transit. Use original packing materials for transport.
- Do not remove covers or access circuitry with power applied. Turn off and disconnect the power cord before servicing. Internal servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Turn off the unit if an abnormality or malfunction occurs and disconnect all power before moving it.

1.1 Overview
The PKC3000 is a professional PTZ camera controller supporting RS-422, RS-485, RS-232, and IP control. It connects to up to 255 cameras, allowing control over aperture, focus, white balance, exposure, and real-time speed. It is widely used in education, conferences, remote medical services, and other industries.

Control Panel
3.1 Description
The control panel of the PKC3000 is designed for intuitive operation:
- 1. Camera Quick Access Control: For aperture, exposure, white balance, and focus function settings.
- 2. 6 Camera Call Up & User-assignable Keys: Default 6-camera quick connect, also user-assignable for custom functions.
- 3. Seesaw Button: Used for zoom control (Telephoto/Wide).
- 4. Menu Knob: Used for pan/tilt speed, zoom speed control, and navigating PTZ camera menus.
- 5. Non-menu Status Knob: Adjusts the PTZ head rate.
- 6. Multi-function Digital Panel: For inputting numbers, letters, and commands.
- 7. PTZ Joystick: Controls camera motion (pan, tilt, zoom, lock).
- 8. 2.2 inch LCD Display: Shows status and menu information.
3.2 Keyboard Button
Camera Quick Access Control:
- Press AUTO EXPOSURE for automatic exposure. Use the IRIS knob for manual aperture adjustment.
- Press AUTO WB for automatic white balance. Press ONE PUSH WB for one-touch white balance.
- The R and B knobs adjust red and blue gain respectively.
- Press AUTO AF for autofocus. Press ONE PUSH AF for one-touch focus. Manual focus adjustment is also available.
6 Camera Call Up & User-assignable Keys:
- Keys F1-F6 can be used to quickly call corresponding cameras or be customized for specific functions.
Seesaw Button:
- Press the 'T' side to zoom telephoto (focus farther); press the 'W' side to zoom wide (focus closer). The PTZ joystick can also control zoom.
Menu Knob:
- Press SETUP to enter the menu. The knob selects menu options. Outside the menu, it controls PTZ head rate. Pressing the knob adjusts PT and Z rates.
Multi-function Digital Panel:
- Numeric panel for inputting numbers and letters.
- '<' (HOME key): Short press deletes the previous character; long press returns to the starting position.
- '0' key (BLC key): Short press enters '0'; long press enables Backlight Compensation.
- '←' (MENU key): Short press confirms; long press calls up the camera menu. When entering letters, short press switches case.
Camera Address and Position Setting:
- SEARCH: Initiates camera search.
- INQUIRY: Queries camera information, allows parameter modification, or manual camera addition.
- CAM: Recalls a specified camera by number.
- PRESET: Sets a camera's preset position. Enter the preset number and press PRESET to save.
- RESET: Clears a preset position. Enter the preset number and press RESET.
- CALL: Recalls a preset position. Enter the preset number and press CALL.
Screen: Displays menu settings and status pages.
PTZ Joystick
The PTZ joystick controls camera motion. It is also used for menu navigation:
- Up/Down: Select menu options.
- Left/Right: Adjust menu values.
- Rotate Left/Right: Navigate sub-menus (Left returns to previous level, Right enters next level).
- Lock Button: Locks the joystick operation.
Menu Settings
4.1 STATUS
The status page displays camera address, name, control protocol, IP address, baud rate, UDP port, and other relevant information. The menu knob controls PTZ camera speed while on this page.
Information entered and operations performed are displayed in the lower corners of the screen.
4.2 SETUP
Press the SETUP button to enter the SETUP menu.
4.2.1 IP Config
Select IP Config to configure the controller's IP address.
- Network:
- Dynamic: Obtain IP automatically via DHCP from a router. Ensure the camera and controller are on the same local network.
- Static: Manually set the IP address. Connect the controller and camera via network cable and set them to the same network segment. The default static IP is 192.168.5.177.
- Netmask: Set the Netmask. The default is 255.255.255.0.
- Gateway: Set the Gateway according to the current IP address. The default is 192.168.5.1. Exiting the menu saves the configuration.
4.2.2 LED Setting
Enables or disables the panel key lights.
4.2.3 Assigned Key
Assign functions to keys F1-F6 for quick execution or camera connection. Long press an F button for function execution; short press for camera connection. Custom commands (CMD1-CMD6) can also be assigned.
Assigned key functions include:
- 1. Cam N: Quick call camera N.
- 2. Home: Return camera to start position.
- 3. P/T Reset: Reset selected camera.
- 4. Power: Power off selected camera.
- 5. Mute: Mute selected camera's audio.
- 6. Freeze: Freeze selected camera's image.
- 7. Flip: Flip selected camera's image (Up/Down).
- 8. LR Reverse: Invert L/R pan direction (Flip Left/Right).
- 9. CMD1-6: Custom camera control commands.
4.2.4 Advanced
Settings for Track Loop, Quick Call, and Theme (screen skin style).
- Track Loop: Plays back recorded tracks. When off, plays back the looped track once. Recording procedure is detailed in section 4.6.
- Quick Call: Allows direct recall of preset positions by keypad number. If off, requires pressing 'CALL' after entering the preset number.
- Theme: Selects screen skin style from four options (Color1-Color4).
4.2.5 Version
Displays the APP and MCU versions of the PTZ camera controller.
4.2.6 Reset
Clears all keyboard settings and restores factory defaults. Do not move the joystick or seesaw during the reset process. Exit the menu to return to the status page.
4.3 Search
The controller supports VISCA-IP and ONVIF protocols for searching cameras. Ensure the camera and controller are in the same LAN segment. Select the protocol (VISCA-IP or ONVIF) via the menu and press SEARCH. Searched cameras will be displayed with their IP addresses. Click an IP to access camera settings and click 'Save' to store.
If no cameras are found, the search result will show 'None'. Auto search uses default ports; manual port adjustment may be needed via the INQUIRY key for non-default ports.
4.4 Inquiry and Manual Settings
The controller stores up to 255 cameras. Use the INQUIRY button to query camera information or modify settings like name, protocol, IP, baud rate, UDP port, username, and password. ONVIF and VISCA-IP require IP configuration, while ONVIF also needs username and password matching the camera.
Usernames and passwords for ONVIF can be changed using the numeric panel. For manual addition or modification of camera connection information, use the INQUIRY key.
4.5 Camera Position Setting
- Setting/Creating Presets: Move the camera to the desired position, enter a preset number (e.g., '77') on the alphanumeric keyboard, and press the PRESET button to save.
- Calling Presets: Enter the preset number (e.g., '77') and short press the CALL button or Enter key. With 'Quick Call' enabled, numeric keys 0-9 can directly call the first 10 presets.
- Resetting/Clearing Presets: Enter the preset number to clear (e.g., '77') and press the RESET button.
Note: 'Quick Call' must be off when setting or clearing presets.
4.6 Track Recording Setting
- Setting a Track Recording: Enter the desired track number (e.g., '11'), long press the PRESET button to start recording, then press PRESET again to save and finish.
- Playback Track Recording: Enter the track number (e.g., '11'), long press the CALL button to playback. Track loop can be set in the menu. If track loop is on, the camera repeats the recorded track; if off, it plays back once. Moving the joystick or pressing the seesaw button during playback stops it. The joystick lock button prevents accidental interruption.
- Reset/Clear Track Recording: Enter the track number (e.g., '11') and press and hold the RESET button.

5. PTZ Camera Controller Connection
A typical connection setup involves the PKC3000 controller connected via LAN to a PoE Switch. The PoE Switch connects to multiple PTZ cameras. A separate switcher handles SDI/HDMI video signals, outputting to a monitor and recorder. A PC is also connected to the PoE Switch.
6. RS-232 Connection Diagram
Illustrates daisy-chaining multiple devices via RS-232. Each device has TX, RX, and GND pins for connection. The diagram shows a sequence of RS-232 IN/OUT connections between devices, including the PKC3000.
7. RS-485 Connection Diagram

9. PTZ Camera Remote Control
Wireless remote control of PTZ cameras can be achieved using the TS3019's serial pass-through function, connecting the PKC3000 controller, a Tally box, a Tally lamp, and the PTZ camera.
