Assembly Instructions
Note: Carefully unpack the fixture and parts. Make sure all parts are included before discarding any packing materials.
Diagram Description (Figure 1): Figure 1 illustrates the components and assembly process. Key parts include: Mounting Bar (C), Outlet Box (D), Outlet Box Screws (E), Mounting Nipple (B), Hex Nut (N), Lock Washer 1 (O1), Wire Connectors (F), Green Grounding Screw (G), Canopy (I), Lock Washer 2 (O2), Cap Nut (A), Thumb Screws (J), Glass Shade (K), and Shade Lip (L). A ground wire is also shown.
- Raise the canopy (I) to the ceiling, allowing the mounting nipple (B) to protrude through the opening in the canopy (I).
- Secure the canopy (I) in place with lock washer 2 (O2) (if applicable) and cap nut (A).
- Unscrew the thumb screws (J) enough to insert the glass shade (K) (with the clear glass pointed downward).
- Carefully support the glass shade (K) while securing the thumb screws (J). The shade (K) is secure when the thumb screws (J) fit snugly under the shade lip (L).
Mounting and Wiring Instructions
Note: Underwriters Laboratories (UL) does not require all fixtures to have ground wires. These fixtures meet all UL specifications.
Diagram Description (Figure 2): Figure 2 shows the wiring connections. Fixture wires (Black, White, Bare Copper/Ground) connect to House Wires (Black/Hot, White/Neutral, Bare Copper/Ground) using Wire Connectors (F).
- Turn off power at the circuit box to avoid possible electric shock.
- Remove cap nut (A) from mounting nipple (B). Thread hex nut (N) onto mounting nipple (B) approximately 1/4 inch and insert lock washer 1 (O1), then thread mounting nipple (B) into mounting bar (C) and secure with hex nut (N).
- Secure mounting bar (C) to outlet box (D) using outlet box screws (E) (if applicable).
- Identify color coding of fixture wires (refer to Figure 2).
- Connect the black wire from the fixture with the black wire (hot wire) from the outlet box by wire connector (F), and wrap the wire connector (F) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.
- Connect the white wire from the fixture with the white wire (neutral wire) from the outlet box by wire connector (F), and wrap the wire connector (F) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.
- Partially thread green grounding screw (G) into side hole (H) on mounting bar (C).
- Wrap grounding wire from fixture around green grounding screw stem (G) leaving enough excess wire, then connect the excess grounding wire from the fixture with the grounding wire from outlet box by wire connector (F) (if applicable), then wrap the wire connector (F) with electrical tape for a more secure connection.
- Tighten green grounding screw (G). Do not over tighten.
- Tuck wires inside outlet box (D).
After wiring: Turn power back on at the circuit box.
Warning: Turn off electricity to the mounting site before beginning installation. Mounting instructions must be followed exactly as shown for the fixture to be safely supported.
