Battery Installation / Replacement

WARNING: Use of substandard batteries can cause injury or property damage. Visit www.surefire.com/batterysafety.

  1. Attach Battery Cover. (Refer to Figure 1: Shows battery cover attachment and correct battery orientation with positive (+) and negative (-) terminals indicated.)
  2. Insert two 123A Batteries with terminals oriented as shown in the engraved schematic on the X300 body. (Refer to Figure 1)
  3. Close Battery Cover until the compartment latch clicks and locks the cover in place.
  4. To replace batteries, depress the latch to open the Battery Cover.
  5. Install fresh batteries and re-secure the Battery Cover.
  6. (Optional) Using pliers, insert the battery cover Retaining Pin through both holes in the latch bracket until the pin locks in place and the latch cannot be released. (Refer to Figure 2: Shows insertion of the retaining pin.)

CAUTION: Mixing a depleted battery with a new battery can cause damage to the weaponlight. Always use two fresh batteries when replacing old ones.

Mounting X300 to Weapon

WARNING: ALWAYS confirm the weapon is unloaded and on SAFE before attempting installation.

The X300 A-series weaponlights ship with a Universal Lever Latch installed. The Lever Latch system provides a secure attachment point using a spring-assisted latch that can be actuated by hand without tools. A Picatinny Lever Latch is also included to fit weapon accessory rails with Picatinny cross slots.

The X300 A-series weaponlights also include the Rail-Lock system, which provides a more robust attachment platform that is easily actuated by hand but requires a hex key to rigidly attach to a weapon accessory rail. A Universal and Picatinny Rail-Lock are included to fit weapon accessory rails with Universal and Picatinny cross slots.

Installation & Removal (Lever Latch System)

  1. Align Rail Guides with the grooves of the Universal accessory rail.
  2. Pull down on the Lever Latch tabs and slide the X300 onto the accessory rail of the host weapon until the Lever Latch clicks and locks securely in place. (Refer to Figure 3: Illustrates pulling down the lever latch tabs for attachment/removal.)
  3. To remove, press down on the Lever Latch tabs and slide the X300 forward off the rail. (Refer to Figure 3)

Installation & Removal (Rail-Lock System)

  1. Pull Rail Latch Lock tabs rearward to release the Rail Latch. Slide the Rail Latch to the open position; the Rail Latch is not designed to come all the way out. (Refer to Figure 4: Shows the Rail Latch in the open position.)
  2. Slide the X300 onto the host weapon accessory rail and align the rail latch with the accessory rail slot on the host weapon. Press in the Rail Latch until it locks in place. (Refer to Figure 5: Depicts sliding the X300 onto the rail and pressing the rail latch.)
  3. Insert the 5/64-inch Hex Wrench into the slot and tighten the Lock Actuator Screw.
  4. To remove, loosen the Lock Actuator Screw with the Hex Wrench, pull back the Rail Latch Lock tabs, slide the Rail Latch to the open position, and remove the weaponlight from the host weapon accessory rail.

Lever Latch Removal & Installation (for Rail-Lock System)

This section describes how to swap the Lever Latch for the Rail-Lock system.

  1. Use the 5/64-inch Hex Wrench to remove the Rail Guides by unscrewing the Hex Screws. (Refer to Figure 6: Shows the Rail Guides and screws, noting a notch on one guide.)
  2. Lift up and remove the Lever Latch from the hinge pin. Capture the Lever Latch Spring and retain it. Store the replaced Lever Latch for future use. (Refer to Figure 7: Illustrates removing the Lever Latch and Spring.)
  3. Hook the Lever Latch onto the X300 Hinge Pin so the SureFire logo is visible. Place the Spring under the Lever Latch so it nests in the round slot on the underside of the Lever Latch and on the top of the X300 body. (Refer to Figure 7)
  4. Press down and hold the Lever Latch. Insert screws into the Rail Guides. Align the left Rail Guide with the holes on the left side of the body and tighten screws using an alternating pattern until all three screws stop turning. Repeat for the right side Rail Guide. Tighten screws to 4 in-lbs, or use the supplied 5/64" hex wrench and tighten screws with light pressure (do not over-tighten).
  5. While holding down the Lever Latch tabs, slide the X300 onto the host weapon accessory rail until the Lever Latch's crossbar mates with the accessory rail cross slot.
  6. (Optional) Sparingly apply Loctite 242 to each Rail Guide Screw to further prevent screws from loosening from live fire use.

Rail-Lock® Installation

  1. Using the 5/64-inch Hex Wrench, remove both Rail Guides. (Refer to Figure 6)
  2. Remove the Lever Latch and Spring. Store both for future use.
  3. Insert the Lock Actuator into the slot on the Rail Latch Lock. Insert the Lock Actuator Screw into its screw hole and turn clockwise until it engages the Lock Actuator. (Refer to Figure 8: Shows the Lock Actuator and Screw assembly.)
  4. Place the hooked end of the Rail Latch Lock onto the Hinge Pin and insert the Rail Latch Lock (actuator facing down) so it fits into the slot on top of the body. The Lock Actuator Screw may need to be loosened or tightened for the screw head to align with the screw head slot. (Refer to Figure 9: Illustrates alignment of the screw head and slot for the Lock Actuator Screw.)
  5. Select the appropriate Rail Latch (Universal or Picatinny).
  6. Lift the front edge of the Rail Latch Lock. Connect the slotted side of the Rail Latch to the front edge of the Rail Latch Lock. (Refer to Figure 8)
  7. Lower the Rail Latch Lock and attached Rail Latch, fitting both into their designated slots in the body.
  8. One Rail Guide has a notch which fits over the Rail Latch. (Refer to Figure 6)
  9. (Optional) Sparingly apply Loctite 242 to each Rail Guide Screw to further prevent screws from loosening from live fire use.

Light Operation

For momentary-on light operation, press and hold either the right or left side of the tailcap toggle switch; release to turn the light off. (Refer to Figure 10: Depicts the tailcap toggle switch for operation.)

For constant-on operation, rotate the tailcap toggle switch up or down; rotate in the opposite direction to turn the light off. (Refer to Figure 10)

Note: Remote switches are available for SureFire X-Series WeaponLights. Visit www.surefire.com/parts-accessories/switches.html.
