Battery Installation / Replacement
⚠️ WARNING
Use of substandard batteries can cause injury or property damage. Visit www.surefire.com/batterysafety.
- Attach Battery Cover. (Refer to Figure 1: Diagram showing the attachment of the battery cover to the weapon light body.)
- Insert 123A batteries with terminals oriented as shown in the engraved schematic on the X300 body. (Refer to Figure 2: Schematic illustrating the correct orientation for inserting two 123A lithium batteries into the weapon light, noting the positive and negative terminals. It also shows the hinge cover release latch and the optional retaining pin for securing the battery cover.)
- Close Battery Cover until the compartment latch clicks and locks the cover in place.
- To replace batteries, depress the latch to open the Battery Cover.
- Install fresh batteries and re-secure the Battery Cover per the Installation directions above.
- (OPTIONAL) Using pliers, insert the battery cover Retaining Pin through both holes in the latch bracket, until the pin locks in place and the latch cannot be released. (Refer to Figure 2.)
? CAUTION: Mixing a depleted battery with a new battery can cause damage to the weaponlight. Always use two fresh batteries when replacing old ones.
Mounting X300 to Weapon
⚠️ WARNING
ALWAYS confirm the weapon is unloaded and on SAFE before attempting installation.
The X300 ships with the Universal (marked "U") Crossmember installed. To attach the X300 to a Universal accessory rail, skip ahead to the "Attaching to Host Weapon Rail" instructions. To attach the X300 to a Picatinny rail, the Universal Crossmember must be replaced with the included Picatinny Crossmember (marked "P"). Proceed to the "Installing / Replacing the Crossmember" section above.
Installing / Replacing the Crossmember
- Loosen the Rail-Adjustment Bolt by turning counterclockwise until the Crossmember is fully exposed. (Refer to Figure 3: Illustration demonstrating the process of loosening the Rail-Adjustment Bolt to expose the crossmember for removal or adjustment.)
- Remove the Crossmember by lifting it out; store it for future use.
- Place the Crossmember into the slot, ensuring that the Crossmember's front edge is facing forward (toward the bezel) and the "wedge" is facing rearward.
- Push the Crossmember all the way forward and, while holding the Crossmember in place, tighten the Rail-Adjustment Bolt by turning clockwise until the movable Rail Guide overlaps the Crossmember "wedge," locking it securely in place. (Refer to Figure 4: Diagram showing the crossmember positioned correctly and the Rail-Adjustment Bolt being tightened clockwise to secure it, with the movable rail guide overlapping the crossmember's 'wedge'.)
Attaching to Host Weapon Rail
Note: The appropriate Crossmember MUST be installed ("U" for Universal rails; "P" for Picatinny rails) to attach the X300 to a weapon's accessory rail. Some pistols with a MIL-STD-1913 rail may require the "U" crossmember to properly interface with the location of the front trigger guard surface.
- Adjust the gap between the stationary and movable Rail Guides by turning the Rail-Adjustment Bolt clockwise or counterclockwise until the gap is sufficiently wide to fit over the weapon accessory rail. (Refer to Figure 5: Diagram illustrating the adjustment of the gap between the stationary and movable rail guides using the Rail-Adjustment Bolt, preparing the light to fit onto a weapon's accessory rail.)
- Align the Fixed Rail with the weapon's accessory rail and hinge the X300 over the cross slot of the host weapon.
- Mate the Crossmember with the corresponding slot in the weapon's accessory rail.
- Using a torque wrench and a flat head bit, tighten to 8 in-lb onto a polymer pistol rail and to 8-9 in-lb on a metal pistol rail. If a torque wrench is not available, tighten until snug and then apply an additional 1/4 turn. Do NOT overtighten! The Rail Adjustment Bolt will break if excessive force is applied with a tool. (Refer to Figure 6: Diagram showing the SureFire X300 being aligned with and attached to a weapon's accessory rail, hinging over the cross slot and mating the crossmember.)
Light Operation
For momentary-on light operation, press and hold either the right or left side of the tailcap toggle switch; release to turn the light off. (Refer to Figure 6.)
For constant-on operation, rotate the tailcap toggle switch up or down; rotate in the opposite direction to turn the light off. (Refer to Figure 6.)
Note: Remote switches are available for SureFire X-Series WeaponLights. Visit www.surefire.com/parts-accessories/switches.html.
