Introduction
The main wheels are crucial for the device's movement. Over time, their tires may wear out, debris can accumulate within them, or they may simply need replacement due to overuse.
Tools Required:
- J1 Screwdriver Bit (1)
- JIS Driver Set (1)
Step 1 - Battery Removal
Action: Flip the Roomba over so that the wheels are facing up and the dust tray is closest to you.
Action: Using the J1 Phillips screwdriver, locate and unscrew the two 11mm Phillips screws situated above the brushes on the battery panel.
Action: Remove the plastic plate from the battery box.
Step 2 - Battery Removal
Action: Locate the two green tabs on the left and right sides of the large yellow battery.
Action: Grip the tabs firmly with your hands and lift the battery straight upward to remove it.
Step 3 - Side Brush Motor Removal
Action: Using the J1 Phillips Screwdriver, remove the 15.5 mm screw located in the center of the side brush assembly.
Action: Remove the side brush by pulling it upwards.
Caution: Do not lean directly over the brush when attempting to remove it. Removing the brush requires a firm pull and it may release suddenly.
Step 4 - Bottom Plate Removal
Action: Using the J1 Philips Screwdriver, remove the two 15.5 mm screws located on the bottom of the plate that covers the underside of the Roomba.
Action: Lift upwards to remove the bottom plate.
Step 5 - Side Brush Module Removal
Action: Using the J1 Philips Screwdriver, remove the two gold 15.5 mm screws located on the blue plastic module where the side brush was previously attached.
Action: Lift the blue module upwards. This module contains the motor for the side brush.
Step 6 - Main Wheels Removal
Action: Locate the three 15.5 mm screws surrounding each main wheel. Use a J1 Philips screwdriver to remove these screws.
Note: The screw located towards the center for each wheel might be difficult to find and may seem inaccessible. The head of your screwdriver is designed to reach it.
Action: Use your J1 Philips screwdriver to remove these screws.
Step 7 - Final Wheel Removal & Reassembly
Action: Pull upwards on the wheels to remove them from the device.
Reassembly: To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
