Setup Guide

  1. Insert SIM Card

Locate the SIM card slot on the side of the router. Use a micro SIM card. Insert it in the correct direction until it clicks. Save your PIN and PUK codes. To remove the card, turn off the router first, then gently push the card to eject it.

  2. Start the Router

Connect the power cable and turn on the router using the On/Off switch.

  3. Connect to the Router

Ensure Wireless Network is enabled on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Find the network name (SSID) and password on the label located on the back of the router.

Select your network name (SSID) from the list of available wireless networks on your device. When prompted, enter the password (wifi key) and connect.

For the first internet connection, you might need to enter your SIM card's PIN code. Open a web browser, go to http://192.168.8.1, and log in with the username 'admin' and password 'admin'. Enter your SIM card's PIN code and click 'Send'.

  4. Done!

Your router is now set up and ready to use.

Setup Management

Access the router's web-based setup management for advanced configurations like changing APN profiles, WiFi name, password, and sending/receiving SMS messages. A more detailed manual is available via the question mark icon in the top right corner of the management interface.

  • Open the setup management in your web browser.
  • Address: http://192.168.8.1
  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin

Tips

Download the Huawei App

The HUAWEI HiLink (Mobile Wifi) app allows you to manage your router, change passwords, view connected devices, and send/receive SMS. It is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Top Up Your Data

If you reach your data limit, you will receive an SMS notification. You can check this message in the Huawei app or the router's setup management. To purchase more data, send an SMS like "5GB" to 4466. Visit telia.se/kopextrasurf for more options.

LED Status Indicators Explained

Understanding the router's LED lights helps diagnose its status:

  • Power: Lit when the router is on.
  • Mode: Shows connection status.
    • White flashing: Connection being established.
    • Cyan: Connected via 4G.
    • Blue: Connected via 3G.
    • Yellow: Connected via 2G.
    • Flashing: Data transfer in progress.
    • Red: No connection to mobile network (check SIM card, PIN, or overheating). Refer to page 20 for more details.
  • Wifi: Lit when WiFi is on. Flashes when establishing a connection.
  • Voice: Indicates an active voice call.
  • Signal: Displays the mobile network signal strength.
  • LAN: Lit when an active device is connected. Flashes during data transfer.
  • LAN4/WAN: Lit when an active device is connected. Flashes during data transfer.

Note: During software updates, all LEDs except Power will flash. Do not turn off the router during updates to prevent damage.

Router Buttons

  • Wifi Button: Press to activate or deactivate the WiFi function.
  • Reset Button: Press and hold for over 5 seconds to restore the router to factory settings.
  • WPS Button: Press to connect devices to the wireless network without a password. A quick press connects to 2.4GHz WiFi. Pressing for over 5 seconds connects to 5GHz WiFi for faster speeds (requires device support for 5GHz). This function may not be supported by Apple products.

Software (Firmware) Updates

You will be notified when a new software update is available. It is recommended to accept these updates to fix errors and improve router performance.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot connect to the internet:

  • Ensure the router is connected to a power socket.
  • Verify that Wireless Network is activated on your computer/device.
  • Make sure your device is within range of the router.
  • Confirm you have entered the correct network name (SSID) and password (wifi key), found on the router's back label.
  • If the Mode LED is red: Check SIM card insertion and PIN code via setup management (page 17). If the router is overheated, let it cool down and place it in a cooler location.

If you are not getting the best possible speed:

  • Place the router near a window for better signal coverage.
  • Move your device closer to the router.
  • If many users are connected, speeds may be lower. Consider downloading large files when fewer users are active.
  • Consider using an external antenna (available from Telia stores) to boost the mobile network signal. Connect it to the designated antenna ports.

If your connection frequently switches between 2G, 3G, and 4G networks:

You can lock the router to a preferred network via the setup management. Go to Settings > Dial Up > Network Settings, select your preferred network, and apply.

Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the router before unplugging the power cable.
  • Avoid exposing the router to extreme temperatures, water, or humidity.
  • Do not attempt to dismantle the router; only qualified personnel should perform maintenance.
  • Keep the router away from strong electrical or magnetic fields, such as microwave ovens.
