Orbic Speed 5G Quick Start Guide
Your essential guide to setting up and using your Orbic Speed 5G mobile hotspot.
Getting Started
Thank you for choosing the Orbic Speed 5G LTE mobile hotspot device. This Quick User Guide provides the basic operations of the Orbic Speed 5G.
General Appearance
The Orbic Speed 5G is a compact, portable device. Key components and indicators are:
- Menu Key: Used for navigating menus.
- Signal strength icon: Displays the strength of the cellular network connection.
- Network mode icon: Indicates the current network type (e.g., 5G).
- Wi-Fi signal icon: Shows the Wi-Fi connection status and the number of connected users.
- Battery indicator: Displays the remaining battery charge.
- Unread message icon: Notifies of new messages.
- Power button: Used to turn the device on/off and for rebooting.
- USB Type-C port: For charging the device.
- Battery cover: Covers the battery compartment.
- Cut out to remove back cover: A notch or slot to help open the battery cover.
- Indicator Lamp: An LED light for status indication.
- RJ45 (Ethernet port): For wired network connections.
The device features a screen on the front displaying status information. It has ports on the sides and bottom, with the battery compartment accessible from the back.
Inserting and Charging the Battery
- To open the battery cover, use the thumb catch at the bottom of the device. Align the battery contacts with the terminals in the compartment and push the battery down until it clicks into place.
- Place the battery cover back over the compartment and press it downward until it clicks into place.
- To charge the Orbic Speed 5G, plug one end of the provided charger into an electrical outlet and the other end into the device's Type-C Port.
Display Layout and Icons
The device screen displays the following information:
- Signal strength icon: Typically shown as bars indicating cellular signal strength.
- Network mode icon: Displays the current network connection type, such as 5G.
- Send/receive data activity arrows: Indicate active data transmission.
- Wi-Fi signal and number of access users: Shows Wi-Fi status and how many devices are connected.
- Unread message count: Displays the number of unread messages, with a maximum of 100.
- Battery strength indicator: A visual representation of battery charge. It may turn red when the battery capacity is below 20%.
Notes on SIM Card:
- The SIM card must remain in the Orbic Speed 5G during use. Do not remove it once inserted.
- It is recommended to remove the SIM card only when the device is powered OFF.
- Avoid bending or scratching the SIM card. Protect it from static electricity, water, and dirt.
Navigating Through the Orbic Speed 5G
The device offers several menu screens accessible from the home screen, including Wi-Fi settings, Messages, Admin Website, Data Usage, and more.
Removing and Replacing the 5G LTE SIM Card
- Power OFF the Orbic Speed 5G. Remove the battery cover and take out the battery.
- Gently slide the SIM card tray to unlock and remove the SIM card.
- Place the SIM card with the gold contacts facing down. Gently slide the SIM card tray back up to lock it.
Setting Up Wi-Fi Connection
- Press and hold the “Power” button for 3 seconds until the welcome logo appears and Wi-Fi is enabled.
- On your PC, Phone, or Tablet, search for the wireless network named "Verizon R500LXX".
- Enter the provided password and click "Connect".
You can find or change your Wi-Fi Name (SSID) and Password via the device's Wi-Fi Info page (accessible from the homescreen: Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Name/Password).
Logging into the Device Management Website
- Ensure your device (PC/Phone/Tablet) is connected to the Orbic Speed 5G via Wi-Fi.
- Open a web browser and navigate to either
http://my.mobilehotspot
orhttp://192.168.1.1
. - Enter the password and click “Login”. The administrator has rights to check and modify configuration settings.
Note: The password used for the Wi-Fi connection is the same as the device management login password.
Changing the SSID & Password
- Log in to the device management page (
http://my.mobilehotspot
orhttp://192.168.1.1
). - Navigate to Configuration > Wi-Fi > Primary Network.
- Update the "Wi-Fi Name (SSID)" and "Password" fields as desired.
- Select "Save changes". Wait for the confirmation prompt, then close the webpage. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network using the new credentials.
Restore Factory Settings
If you need to revert Wi-Fi settings to their defaults, you have two options:
- Option 1: Log into the Device Management Website and select the option to restore factory defaults.
- Option 2: Locate the "Reset" button within the battery compartment. Press and hold this button for more than 5 seconds.
Note: Resetting the device will remove all user-defined Wi-Fi settings and restore the administrative and Wi-Fi settings to their factory defaults.
Troubleshooting
If the Orbic Speed 5G is not responsive:
Reboot the device by pressing and holding the "Power" button for approximately 8 seconds.
If the SSID fails to connect:
- Verify that the correct password has been entered.
If there is no network in your Hotspot:
- Consider your location. If you are inside a building or near structures that might block signals, try moving the device closer to a window or to a different location.
- Restart the device and try connecting again.
If you forget your Wi-Fi key:
- The Wi-Fi key can be found on the Wi-Fi info page displayed on your Hotspot screen.
- Alternatively, you can reset the device to factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 5 seconds.
If your data connection fails:
- You may be in an area with low network coverage. Try moving to a location with better reception.
If your Hotspot cannot connect to the internet internationally:
- Check if the data roaming function is enabled in the WEB UI or mobile connection settings.
- Ensure that international roaming is enabled on your mobile plan. Contact your service provider for assistance before traveling.
Safety and Usage Precautions
To the Owner:
- Electronic devices can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference. Consult the device manufacturer if your device is inadequately shielded.
- This device may interfere with medical devices like hearing aids and pacemakers. Maintain a distance of at least 20 centimeters (approx. 8 inches) from such medical devices when both are powered on. Turn off the device if necessary and consult a physician or medical device manufacturer.
- Be aware of usage limitations in potentially hazardous environments such as oil warehouses or chemical factories where explosive gases or products are present. Turn OFF the device if required.
- Electronic transmitting devices are prohibited in aircraft, at gas stations, and in hospitals. Obey all warning signs and power OFF your device in these locations.
- Avoid touching the inner antenna area as it may affect device performance.
- Keep the device away from children, as it could cause injury if used as a toy.
- Do not touch the metallic parts of the device while it is operating, as they may become hot and cause burns.
Using Your Device:
- Use only original or authorized accessories. Unauthorized accessories may affect performance and violate regulations.
- Avoid using the device near or inside metallic structures or establishments that emit electromagnetic waves, as this can interfere with signal reception.
- The device is not waterproof. Keep it in a cool and dry place.
- Sudden temperature changes can cause moisture buildup. Ensure the device is completely dry before use.
- Handle the device carefully to prevent damage from drops, bending, or striking.
- All repairs should be performed by authorized technicians only.
- The recommended operating temperature range is -10°C to +40°C, with a humidity range of 5% to 95%.
