KALLAX Insert with Door Assembly Instructions
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the IKEA KALLAX insert with a door.
General Assembly Information
Before starting assembly, please verify that all parts are present and undamaged. It is recommended to assemble on a soft surface, such as a rug or the packaging material, to protect both the product and your floor. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions, please consult the IKEA website or contact IKEA customer support.
Tools typically required: Screwdriver, Allen key.

Assembly Steps
Step 1: Frame Assembly
Assemble the main frame of the KALLAX unit by connecting the side panels to the base and top panels. Insert one dowel (1x Part No. 106266) into the designated holes. Use screws (as indicated in diagrams) to secure the panels. Ensure the frame is square and connections are firm. Avoid over-tightening screws.
Step 2: Attach Hinge Plates to Door
Attach the two hinge plates (2x Part No. 109221) to the inner side of the door using screws. Ensure the plates are correctly oriented as indicated in the detailed view.
Step 3: Attach Hinges to Unit
Mount the two hinges (2x Part No. 124386) onto the side panel of the KALLAX unit. Use screws to fix the hinges in place, aligning them with the pre-drilled holes.
Step 4: Mount Door to Unit
Align the hinges on the door with the corresponding hinge plates attached to the unit. Slide the hinge arms onto the plates and secure them. The diagrams illustrate the connection mechanism.
Step 5: Attach Door Handle
Fix the door handle (1x Part No. 100344) to the front of the door. Insert screws (2x Part No. 100412) from the inside of the door through the pre-drilled holes and into the handle. Tighten the screws to secure the handle.
Step 6: Hinge Adjustment (Depth)
Adjust the door's depth using the designated adjustment screw on the hinge. Turn the screw to move the door closer to or further from the unit frame.
Step 7: Hinge Adjustment (Height)
Adjust the door's height by turning the appropriate adjustment screw on the hinge. This allows for vertical alignment of the door.
Step 8: Hinge Adjustment (Side-to-Side)
Adjust the door's side-to-side position using the third adjustment screw on the hinge. This fine-tunes the gap between the door and the unit frame.
Step 9: Hinge Attachment and Alignment
Reconfirm the secure attachment of the hinge arms to the hinge plates. Ensure all connections are snug before proceeding with final adjustments.
Step 10: Final Door Attachment and Securing
Complete the door attachment. The diagrams show the use of one screw (1x Part No. 119976) and one dowel (1x Part No. 106266) in a specific connection point, possibly for stabilizing the door or a closing mechanism.
Step 11: Final Hinge Adjustments
Perform final adjustments to the hinges to ensure the door hangs straight, closes properly, and all gaps are even. Make small, incremental adjustments as needed.
Important Notes
Always refer to the specific diagrams for correct part orientation and screw usage. Incorrect assembly can affect the product's stability and functionality. The KALLAX system is modular and can be combined with other KALLAX units and accessories.
