Charging
When you first purchase, please charge the unit.
- Open the charging terminal cover: If there is moisture near the charging terminal cover, wipe it off before opening.
- Connect the unit to a computer or AC adapter (sold separately: DMW-AC9) using the USB charging cable:
- During charging, the LED (red) lights up and turns off when charging is complete.
- It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge from a depleted battery.
Note: Ensure the terminal orientation is correct and insert/remove the plug straight. (Inserting at an angle or in reverse may deform the terminal and cause malfunction.)
- Close the charging terminal cover securely
Please Note:
- Do not touch the charging terminal with wet hands. (Sweat or moisture on the charging terminal may cause malfunction.)
Notice:
- Charging is possible at room temperatures between 10°C and 35°C. At other temperatures, charging may stop and the LED may turn off.
- You cannot turn on the power or connect to a Bluetooth® device during charging.
- Charging may not occur if the computer is in standby or sleep mode.
- Do not use anything other than the included USB charging cable or the separately sold Panasonic AC adapter (DMW-AC9). (May cause malfunction.)

Power On/Off
To turn on: While the power is off, press and hold the [①] button for approximately 3 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- A beep sound will be heard, and the LED will flash blue slowly.
To turn off: Press and hold the [①] button for approximately 3 seconds. Voice guidance will play, and the power will turn off.
- The voice guidance language can be switched between Japanese and English. (➡️ 15, "Voice Guidance")
Notice:
- If the unit is not connected to a Bluetooth® device, it will automatically turn off after approximately 5 minutes with voice guidance. (➡️ 15, "Auto Power Off")

How to Wear
The left earphone has a groove (L-groove) for identification.
The ear pieces attached at purchase are M size. If the size does not fit, please use the included S size or L size ear pieces.
Connecting to Bluetooth® Devices
Preparation:
- Keep the Bluetooth® device within approximately 1m of this unit.
- If necessary, check the operating instructions of the device.
Pairing (Registering) the Unit with a Bluetooth® Device
- With the power off, press and hold the [①] button until the LED flashes.
- For first-time device registration: Approximately 3 seconds.
- For registering a second or subsequent device: Approximately 5 seconds.
- The unit will start searching for the Bluetooth® device, and the LED will flash blue and red alternately.
- Turn on the Bluetooth® device and enable its Bluetooth® function.
- From the Bluetooth® device's Bluetooth® menu, select the device name "RP-NJ310B J".
- Before "RP-NJ310B J" appears, the MAC address (alphanumeric characters that vary by device) may be displayed.
- If prompted for a passcode, enter "0000" (four zeros) for this unit.
- Confirm the connection with the Bluetooth® device.
Until the devices are connected, the LED will flash blue and red alternately. When the LED flashes blue every 2 seconds, pairing (registration) is complete. (Connection status)
Notice:
- If the connection is not completed within 5 minutes, the unit's power will turn off, so please repeat the registration process.
- This unit can register up to 8 Bluetooth® devices. If you exceed the maximum number of registrations, the oldest registered device will be overwritten. To use it again, you must re-register.
Connecting to Registered Bluetooth® Devices
- Turn on the unit. Press and hold the [①] button until the LED flashes blue (approx. 3 seconds). A beep sound will be heard, and the LED will flash blue slowly.
- Follow steps 2 and 3 of "Pairing (Registering) the Unit with a Bluetooth® Device". The LED will flash blue every 2 seconds when pairing (registration) is complete. (Connection status)
Notice:
- This unit remembers the last connected device. Automatic connection may occur after step 1 (above).
- If the connection is not completed within 5 minutes, the unit's power will turn off, so turn the power on again.
Usage
Listening to Music
If your Bluetooth® compatible device supports the "A2DP" and "AVRCP" Bluetooth® profiles, you can control music playback from this unit.
- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Transmits audio to this unit.
- AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile): Allows remote control operation from this unit.
- Connect the Bluetooth® device and this unit (➡️ 12, "Connecting to Bluetooth® Devices").
- On the Bluetooth® device, select and play the music or video you want to listen to. The audio of the played music or video will be output from the unit's earphones.
Playback Time: Approximately 6 hours (may be shorter depending on usage conditions).
Please Note:
- Be aware of sound leakage at high volumes.
- If you raise the volume to near maximum, the music may sound distorted. In such cases, lower the volume until it sounds clear.
Remote Control Operation
You can operate your Bluetooth® device as a remote control by pressing the buttons on this unit.
Note: Depending on the Bluetooth® device or application, some functions may not operate, or may operate differently from the descriptions below.

Notice:
- Volume can be adjusted in 16 steps. A beep sound will indicate when you reach the maximum or minimum level.
Making Calls
You can make calls using this unit if your Bluetooth® compatible phone (mobile phone, smartphone, etc.) supports the "HSP" or "HFP" Bluetooth® profile.
- HSP (Headset Profile): Allows receiving monaural audio and two-way communication via the microphone.
- HFP (Hands-Free Profile): In addition to HSP functions, it supports call initiation and reception. (This unit cannot initiate calls.)
- Connect the Bluetooth® compatible phone and this unit (➡️ 12, "Connecting to Bluetooth® Devices").
- On this unit, press [①] to receive an incoming call. When a call comes in, you will hear a ringtone from the earphones, and the LED will flash. (For HFP only) To reject a call, press [①] twice quickly.
- During a call: The unit's LED will flash blue twice repeatedly. You can adjust the volume during a call. For setting methods, refer to (➡️ 13, "Remote Control Operation").
- Press the unit's [①] button to end the call. A beep sound will be heard.
Notice:
- Hands-free call settings may be required on the Bluetooth® compatible phone.
- Depending on the Bluetooth® compatible phone, the incoming call ringtone or alert sound from the phone may not be heard from this unit.
- In noisy environments or outdoors with strong winds, it may be difficult to hear the conversation. In such cases, change your location or switch to the phone for the call. (To switch, press [①] twice quickly)
- You can use this unit's microphone and applications on your device to initiate calls on your Bluetooth® compatible device. (➡️ 15, "Activating Voice Assistant Function")
Convenient Functions
Activating Voice Assistant Function
You can activate Siri or other voice assistant functions using the buttons on this unit.
- Connect the Bluetooth® device and this unit (➡️ 12, "Connecting to Bluetooth® Devices").
- Press the unit's [①] button twice quickly. The voice assistant function of the Bluetooth® device will be activated.
Notice:
- For details on voice commands for the voice assistant function, please refer to the instruction manual of your Bluetooth® device.
- The voice assistant function may not work depending on the specifications of your smartphone or the version of the application.
Voice Guidance
This unit provides voice prompts for power on/off, Bluetooth® device connection, and setting changes.
- Voice guidance language can be switched between Japanese and English.
- The voice guidance function cannot be disabled.
- The volume of the voice guidance cannot be adjusted.
To switch the voice guidance language: Press and hold [①] and [-] for 5 seconds or more.
Battery Level Notification
When the power is turned off, voice guidance will announce the battery level (including when auto power off is active). When the battery level becomes low during use, the LED will change from flashing blue to red, and a beep will sound once every minute. When the battery is depleted, voice guidance will play, and the power will turn off automatically.

Auto Power Off
If the unit is not connected to a Bluetooth® device, it will automatically turn off approximately 5 minutes after you stop operating it, with voice guidance.

Reset
If the unit becomes unresponsive, you can reset it by pressing and holding the [①] button for 10 seconds or more. All previous operations will be reset. (Registered device information will not be deleted.)
Reference
Returning to Factory Default Settings
This function clears all registered device information and returns the unit to its factory default state (as it was when purchased). Please charge the unit before returning it to factory default settings.
- With the power off, press and hold the [①] button for 5 seconds or more until the LED flashes blue and red alternately.
- While the LED is flashing blue and red alternately, press and hold the [+] and [-] buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds or more. The LED (blue) will flash rapidly, and the power will turn off when the unit returns to its factory default state.
Notice:
- To re-register Bluetooth® devices, you must first delete the registration information (device name: RP-NJ310B J) from the Bluetooth® device, and then re-register this unit. (➡️ 12)
Handling Precautions
About Usage and Storage
- Do not place in direct sunlight or near heating appliances, or in dusty locations.
- Do not place in humid locations such as bathrooms.

- Do not drop or subject the unit to strong shocks, as this may cause malfunction.
- Do not wash with detergent.
About Volume
- In noisy environments, it is common to raise the volume, but please set it to a level where you can still hear ambient sounds such as calls.
About Bluetooth®
Frequency Band
This unit uses the 2.4 GHz band. Other wireless devices may also use this frequency band. To prevent radio wave interference with other wireless devices, please observe the following precautions.

- ③ Radio wave interference distance: Up to 10 m
* The 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz band is used, meaning it can avoid interference with mobile identification devices.
Notes on Bluetooth® Device Usage
The frequency band used by this device is also used by industrial, scientific, and medical equipment, factory production lines, and licensed or unlicensed low-power radio stations, as well as amateur radio stations. Before using this device, please confirm that no such radio stations are operating nearby.
- Before using this device, confirm that no licensed low-power radio stations or unlicensed low-power radio stations are operating nearby.
- If harmful radio wave interference occurs with licensed low-power radio stations, promptly change the location of use, stop using the radio wave, and contact us for consultation regarding countermeasures (e.g., installing partitions).

- This unit is for use in Japan only.
- Wireless communication with all Bluetooth® compatible devices is not guaranteed.
- Bluetooth® compatible devices for wireless communication must comply with the standards set by The Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and be certified. However, even devices that comply with the standard may not connect due to device specifications or settings, and their operation or display is not guaranteed.
- While this unit supports standard Bluetooth® security features, security may not be sufficient depending on the operating environment and settings. Please be cautious during wireless communication.
- Panasonic is not responsible for any data leakage that may occur during wireless communication.
Usable Range
Use within a range of approximately 10m with a clear line of sight. The usable range may be reduced by obstacles, interference from nearby devices, or the presence of people. Building structures may also affect the range. This range is not guaranteed.
Interference from Other Devices
Do not use this unit in locations prone to strong magnetic fields, static electricity, or radio wave interference. Communication may be interrupted or speed may decrease when used near the following devices:
- Microwave ovens
- Digital cordless telephones
- Other devices using 2.4 GHz radio waves (wireless audio devices, game consoles, etc.)
- Near metal objects that reflect radio waves
Communication may not function normally if radio waves from broadcast stations are too strong nearby.
Usage Restrictions
This unit is designed for general use and is not intended for high-safety applications*. Do not use for high-safety purposes.
* High-safety applications refer to control systems where extremely high safety is required, and which could pose a severe risk to life or limb. Examples include: Nuclear reactor control in nuclear facilities / Automatic flight control for aircraft / Operation control for mass transit systems / Life support medical equipment / Missile launch control systems for weapons systems, etc.

Care
- Wipe with a dry, soft cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, wipe with a damp cloth that has been wrung out thoroughly, and then dry with a dry cloth.
- Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner, alcohol, or kitchen detergent, as they may cause the outer case to deteriorate or the paint to peel.
Battery Performance Maintenance:
- If the unit will not be used for a long period, charge it once every 6 months to maintain battery performance.

Disposal Instructions
The built-in battery is a valuable resource for recycling. When disposing of this product, please remove the battery and recycle it. Please refer to "How to Remove the Battery" (➡️ 24) for instructions.
Please take the removed battery to a recycling cooperative store promptly.

How to Remove the Battery
Do not disassemble the product except for disposal. This illustration is for disposal purposes only and is not a guide for repair. Once disassembled, it cannot be repaired.
1. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the groove of the battery case.
- Be careful not to bring your fingertip close to the screwdriver tip.
- Use a screwdriver that fits the groove of the battery case. Using one that is too small may prevent it from opening properly.
2. Use the screwdriver to lift the upper cover.
- Be careful not to let the screwdriver touch the battery.
3. Lift and remove the battery.
4. Pull the battery and cut the two cords one by one with scissors to remove the battery from the battery case.
Please Note:
- Insulate the cord parts of the removed battery with cellophane tape.
Do not discard used batteries. Please take them to a rechargeable battery recycling cooperative store.
