Ear Caps

- Securely attach the ear caps. If they remain in the ears after detachment, this may cause injury or discomfort.
Allergies
- Discontinue use if you experience discomfort with the earphones or any other component in direct contact with the skin.
- Continued use may cause skin inflammation or other allergic reactions.
Precautions for Listening with Earphones
- Excessive sound pressure from earphones or headphones can cause hearing loss.
- Do not use earphones at high volume. Hearing experts recommend avoiding prolonged use.
- If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use.
- Do not use while driving a vehicle. This can create traffic hazards and is illegal in many areas.
- Exercise extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
During use, this unit may be subject to radio interference caused by mobile phones. If such interference occurs, increase the distance between this unit and the mobile phone.
Use only the supplied USB charging cable when connecting to a computer.
This unit is designed for use in mild and tropical climates.

Usage Restrictions
- Wireless transmission and/or use with all devices equipped with Bluetooth® technology are not guaranteed.
- All devices must comply with the standards of Bluetooth SIG, Inc.
- Depending on the specifications and settings of a device, it may not be able to connect or some operations may differ.
- This unit supports Bluetooth® security functions. These functions may not be sufficient depending on the operating environment and/or settings. Transmit data wirelessly to this unit with caution.
- This unit cannot transmit data to a Bluetooth® device.
Range of Use
Use this unit at a maximum distance of 10 m. The distance may decrease depending on the environment, obstacles, or interference.
Interference from Other Devices
- This unit may not function correctly, and problems such as noise and audio interruptions may occur due to radio wave interference if this unit is placed too close to other Bluetooth® devices or devices using the 2.4 GHz band.
- This unit may not function correctly if radio waves transmitted from a nearby station are too strong.
Intended Use
- The unit is designed for general use.
- Do not use this system near a facility or in an environment subject to radio frequency interference (e.g., airports, hospitals, laboratories, etc.).

Please check and identify the supplied accessories.

Maintenance
Clean this unit with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use solvents such as gasoline, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergents, chemical cloths, etc. Otherwise, the outer casing may deform or the coating may peel off.
Maintaining Battery Performance
- If the unit is not used for a long period, fully charge it once every 6 months to maintain battery performance.

Preliminary Operations
Charging
The rechargeable battery (installed in the unit) is not charged initially. Charge the battery before using this unit.
- Open the USB cover.
• If there is moisture in the USB cover area, remove it before opening the cover. - Connect this unit to a computer using the USB charging cable.
A: USB charging cable (supplied)
• Check the direction of the terminals and insert/remove in a straight line while holding the connector. (If inserted obliquely or in the wrong direction, the terminal may deform, causing a malfunction.)
B: Computer
• Turn on the computer first.
• This LED lights up red while charging. When charging is complete, the LED turns off.
• It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge a depleted battery.
- Firmly close the charging terminal cover.
Attention
Do not touch the charging terminal with wet hands.
• If there is sweat or liquid on the charging terminal, a malfunction may occur.
Note
- Charge at a temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C. Outside this temperature range, charging may stop and the LED may turn off.
- The unit cannot be turned on or connected to Bluetooth® devices during charging.
- Do not use a USB charging cable other than the one supplied. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
- Charging may not occur or may stop if the computer is in standby or sleep mode, or switches to standby or sleep mode.
Powering On/Off
To turn on: While the unit is off, press and hold the [●] button on this unit for about 3 seconds until the LED (blue) blinks.
• A sound signal will be emitted, and the LED (blue) will blink slowly.
To turn off: Press and hold the [●] button for about 3 seconds. A voice prompt in English will be heard, and the unit will turn off.
• It is possible to switch the voice guidance between English and French. (→ 13)
Note
- If the unit is not connected to a Bluetooth® device, a voice prompt in English will be heard, and the unit will automatically turn off approximately 5 minutes after use ends. (→ 13, “Automatic power off”)

How to Wear the Earphones
The right earpiece has a protrusion as shown in the illustration. The M size ear caps are attached at the time of purchase. If they are not the correct size, replace them with S or L size ear caps (supplied).
Connecting a Bluetooth® Device
Preliminary Operations
- Position the Bluetooth® device within approximately 1 m of the unit.
- Verify the unit's operation using the relevant user instructions as required.
Pairing (registration) of this unit with a Bluetooth® device for connection
- While the unit is off, press and hold the [●] button on this unit until the LED blinks.
When pairing a device for the first time: Approximately 3 seconds
When pairing a second or subsequent device: Approximately 5 seconds
• The unit starts searching for the Bluetooth® device for connection, and the LED blinks alternately in blue and red. - Turn on the Bluetooth® device and enable the Bluetooth® function.
- Select “RP-NJ310B” from the Bluetooth® device menu.
• A MAC address (a string of alphanumeric characters that is displayed by the device and uniquely identifies it) may be displayed before “RP-NJ310B” is displayed.
• If a password is requested, enter “0000 (four zeros)” for this unit. - Verify the connection with the Bluetooth® device on the unit.
• The LED blinks alternately in blue and red until the connection with the device is completed. When the LED (blue) blinks twice approximately every 2 seconds, pairing (registration) is complete. (Connection established)
Note
- If a connection to a device is not established within approximately 5 minutes, the unit will turn off. Re-pair the device.
- Up to 8 Bluetooth® devices can be paired with this unit. If a 9th device is paired, the least recently paired device will be replaced. To use it, re-pair the device.
Connecting to a Paired Bluetooth® Device
- Turn on this unit.
• Press and hold the [●] button on this unit for about 3 seconds until the LED (blue) blinks.
• A sound signal will be emitted, and the LED (blue) will blink slowly. - Perform steps 2 and 3 of “Pairing (registration) of this unit with a Bluetooth® device for connection”. (→ 9)
Note
- When the LED (blue) blinks twice approximately every 2 seconds, pairing (registration) is complete. (Connection established)
- This unit remembers the last connected device. The connection can be established automatically after step 1 (see above).
- If a connection to a device is not established within approximately 5 minutes, the unit will turn off. Turn the unit on again.
Operation
Listening to Music
If the Bluetooth® compatible device supports Bluetooth® profiles “A2DP” and “AVRCP”, you can play music using the remote control operations of the unit.
- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Transmits audio to the unit.
- AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile): Allows remote control of the device using the unit.
- Connect the Bluetooth® device to the unit. (→ 9, “Connecting a Bluetooth® device”)
- Select and play music on the Bluetooth® device.
• The unit's earphones will output the music or audio from the video being played.
• Battery life: Maximum playback time is approximately 6 hours. (May decrease depending on usage conditions.)
Attention
- Depending on the volume, the unit's audio may be audible to those not using the unit.
- When the volume is close to the maximum level, the music may sound distorted. Lower the volume until the distortion disappears.
Remote Control
You can control the Bluetooth® device using the unit.
• Depending on the Bluetooth® device or app, even if you press the buttons on the unit, some functions may not respond or may function differently from the descriptions below.

Note
• The volume can be adjusted to 16 levels. When the maximum or minimum volume is reached, a sound signal will be emitted.
Making a Phone Call
With Bluetooth® enabled phones (mobile phones or smartphones) that support the Bluetooth® profile “HSP” or “HFP”, you can use the unit to make phone calls.
- HSP (Headset Profile): This profile can be used to receive mono audio and establish two-way communication using the microphone on the unit.
- HFP (Hands-Free Profile): In addition to HSP functions, this profile offers incoming and outgoing call functions. (This unit does not have a function that allows making calls independently of a Bluetooth® enabled phone.)
- Connect the Bluetooth® device to the unit. (→ 9, “Connecting a Bluetooth® device”)
- Press the [●] button on the unit and answer an incoming call.
• During an incoming call, you will hear the ringtone through the earphones, and the LED will blink.
• (HFP only) To reject an incoming call, quickly press the [●] button twice.
3 Start talking.
• The LED will blink twice repeatedly during a call.
• You can adjust the volume during a phone call. For settings instructions, see page 11.
- Press the [●] button to end the phone call.
• A sound signal will be emitted.
Note
- In some cases, you may need to set the hands-free mode on the Bluetooth® enabled phone.
- Depending on the Bluetooth® enabled phone, you may be able to hear ringtones for incoming and outgoing calls from the phone through the unit.
- (HFP only) It may be difficult to hear phone conversations when using the unit in noisy environments or outdoors in windy conditions. In such cases, change your calling position or switch the call device to the Bluetooth® enabled phone to continue the call. (Quickly press the [●] button twice on the unit to switch.)
- You can have the Bluetooth® enabled phone make calls using the unit's microphone and a Bluetooth® enabled phone app. (→ 13, “Activating voice functions”)
Useful Functions
Activating Voice Functions
You can activate Siri or other voice functions with a button on the unit.
- Connect the Bluetooth® device to the unit. (→ 9, “Connecting a Bluetooth® device”)
- Quickly press the [●] button twice on the unit.
• The voice function on the Bluetooth® device will be activated.
Note
- For more information on voice function commands, refer to the user instructions for the Bluetooth® device.
- The voice function may not work depending on the smartphone specifications and app version.
Voice Guidance
The unit has a function that provides audio notifications when the unit is turned off, a Bluetooth® device is connected, or a setting is changed, for example.
- This unit has voice guidance in English and French.
- The voice guidance function cannot be disabled.
- The volume of the voice guidance cannot be adjusted.
Switching the Voice Guidance Language
Press and hold the [●] and [–] buttons for at least 5 seconds.
Low Battery Notification
- When the unit is turned off, you will hear a voice prompt in English indicating the battery level.
- When the battery level is low during use, the blinking LED will change from blue to red. A sound signal will be emitted every minute. When the battery is depleted, you will hear a voice prompt in English, and the unit will turn off.
- It is possible to switch the voice guidance between English and French. (→ above)
Automatic Power Off
If the unit is not connected to a Bluetooth® device, a voice prompt in English will be heard, and the unit will automatically turn off approximately 5 minutes after use ends.

Resetting the Unit
This unit can be reset when operations cannot be performed. To reset the unit, press and hold the [●] button for at least 10 seconds. All previous operations will be canceled. (Device pairing information will not be erased.)
Other
Resetting to Factory Settings
When you want to erase all device pairing information, etc., you can reset the unit to its factory settings (original settings at the time of purchase). Charge the battery before resetting the unit.
- While the unit is off, press and hold the [●] button for at least 5 seconds until the LED starts blinking alternately in blue and red.
- While the LED is blinking alternately in blue and red, press and hold the [+] and [–] buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds.
• Default settings will be restored after the LED blinks rapidly and the unit turns off.
Attention
• When re-pairing a device, delete the pairing information (Device: “RP-NJ310B”) from the Bluetooth® device menu, and then register this unit with the Bluetooth® device again. (→ 9)

Troubleshooting
Before requesting service, perform the following checks. If you have doubts about any checks or if the indicated solutions do not resolve the problem, consult your retailer for instructions.
Sound Volume and Audio
No sound.
- Ensure that the unit and the Bluetooth® device are connected correctly.
- Check if music is playing on the Bluetooth® device.
- Ensure that the unit is turned on and that the volume is not set too low.
- Re-pair and connect the Bluetooth® device to the unit. (→ 9)
- Check if the Bluetooth® compatible device supports the “A2DP” profile. For profile information, see “Listening to Music” (→ 11). Also refer to the operating manual of the Bluetooth® compatible device.
Low volume.
- Increase the unit's volume. (→ 11)
- Increase the volume on the Bluetooth® device.
Audio from the device is unstable. / Too much noise. / Audio quality is poor.
- Audio may be distorted if signals are blocked. Do not completely cover this unit with your palm, etc.
- The device may be out of the 10 m communication range. Move the device closer to this unit.
- Remove any obstacles between the unit and the device.
- Turn off any wireless LAN devices when not in use.
Bluetooth® Device Connection
Cannot connect to the device.
- Up to 8 Bluetooth® devices can be paired with this unit. If a 9th device is paired, the least recently paired device will be replaced.
- Delete the pairing information for this unit from the Bluetooth® device, then re-pair. (→ 9)
Phone Calls
Cannot hear the other person.
- Ensure that the unit and the Bluetooth® enabled phone are turned on.
- Ensure that the unit and the Bluetooth® enabled phone are connected. (→ 9)
- Check the audio settings of the Bluetooth® enabled phone. Switch the call device to the unit if it is set to the Bluetooth® enabled phone. (→ 9)
- If the other person's voice volume is too low, increase the volume of both the unit and the Bluetooth® enabled phone.
Cannot make a phone call.
- Check if the Bluetooth® compatible device supports the “HSP” or “HFP” profile. For profile information, see “Listening to Music” (→ 11) and “Making a Phone Call” (→ 12). Also refer to the operating manual of the Bluetooth® enabled phone.
General
Unit does not respond.
This unit can be reset when operations cannot be performed. To reset the unit, press and hold the [●] button for at least 10 seconds. (→ 13)
Power and Charging
Cannot charge the unit. / The LED does not turn on or blink during charging. / Charging takes longer.
- Is the USB charging cable securely connected to the computer's USB terminal? (→ 7)
- Ensure charging is done at an ambient temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C.
- Ensure the computer is turned on and not in standby or sleep mode.
- Is the USB port you are using functioning correctly? If your computer has other USB ports, disconnect the connector from the current port and connect it to another port.
- If the previously mentioned operations cannot be performed, disconnect the USB charging cable and reconnect it.
- It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge a depleted battery.
- If the charging time and operating time are reduced, the battery may be depleted. (Number of recharges for the installed battery: Approx. 300)
- This LED lights up red when charging is in progress. When charging is complete, the LED turns off.
Unit does not turn on. / Unit turns off.
- Is the unit charging? The unit cannot be turned on during charging.
- When the LED blinks red, the battery is low. Charge the unit.
- Is automatic power off active? (→ 13)
Voice Guidance
Voice guidance language has changed.
It is possible to switch the voice guidance language. (→ 13)

How to Remove the Battery When Disposing of This Unit
The following instructions are not for repair purposes but for the disposal of this unit. Once disassembled, this unit cannot be restored.
- When disposing of this unit, remove and recycle the installed batteries.
Danger
Since the rechargeable battery is specific to this product, do not use it for other devices. Do not charge the removed battery.
• Do not heat or expose to flames.
• Do not leave the battery/batteries in a car for a long time, exposed to direct sunlight with doors and windows closed.
• Do not pierce the battery with a nail, do not subject it to impact, do not disassemble or modify it.
• Ensure that the wires do not touch metal parts and do not come into contact with each other.
• Do not transport or store the battery with a necklace, hairpin, or the like. In such cases, the battery may generate heat, ignite, or rupture.
Attention
Keep the removed battery and other objects out of reach of children. Accidental ingestion of such an object may have an adverse effect on the human body. If you think such an object has been ingested, consult a doctor immediately.
If fluid leaks from the battery, take the following measure, and do not touch the fluid with bare hands.
- Contact of the fluid with the eyes may cause loss of sight. Wash eyes immediately with water without rubbing, then consult a doctor.
- If the fluid comes into contact with the body or clothing, it may cause skin inflammation or injury. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, then consult a doctor.
The battery case incorporates a lithium-ion-polymer rechargeable battery. Dispose of it according to local regulations. When disposing of the product, disassemble it correctly following the procedure and remove the internal rechargeable battery.
• Disassemble after the battery is depleted.
• When disposing of the battery, contact local authorities or the retailer and ask for information on the correct disposal method.
1 Insert a flat-head screwdriver (commercially available) into the battery case.
• Be careful to keep your fingers away from the tip of the screwdriver.
• Use a screwdriver that fits the slot on the battery case. If it is too small, the battery case will not open correctly.
2 Use the screwdriver to pry and push the top cover upwards.
• Be careful not to touch the battery with the screwdriver.
3 Hold the battery B and remove it.
4 Remove the battery and separate it from the battery case by cutting the wires one by one with scissors.
• Insulate the wires of the removed battery with adhesive tape.
• Do not damage or disassemble the battery.
