Instructions 06-10
Looper Setting
Select the parameter to be set by pressing the SELECT knob.
- Memory: The Looper provides 40 storage positions (1-40). "Stored" indicates an occupied position, while "Empty" indicates an available position for storing. Turn the LOOPER knob to browse positions and use the SELECT knob to select the desired position.
- Fade out: Press the Select knob to select the "Fade out" item. Turn the knob to set the fade-out effect duration when playback is stopped. The adjustment range is 1-5 seconds; the default is Off.
- Once: Switches the "Once" single playback function on or off. Press the Select knob to select the "Once" item, and turn the knob to select "On" or "Off".
Rec and Dub Mode
Press the Select knob to select "Memory". Then turn the knob to select an empty position.
Pressing the left footswitch starts recording, indicated by a red progress light on the light bar.
After recording, press the right footswitch. The light bar turns blue, and the progress bar indicates that recording mode is off and playback has begun.
To record another track over the original (dubbing), press the left footswitch after finishing the first recording. Press either the left or right footswitch to stop recording mode and return to playback.
Note: Recording mode automatically stops and playback begins when the first track reaches 4 minutes.
Undo/Redo
When two or more tracks are recorded and the Looper is playing back, holding the right footswitch for one second initiates the "Undo" function. The last track is removed, and the LED bar flashes yellow briefly. Holding the right footswitch again for one second restores the removed track, with the LED bar flashing yellow again.
Stop
In playback mode, pressing the right footswitch executes the Stop function. The track stops playing, and the light bar flashes white.
If the "Once" function is active, pressing the right footswitch once executes the "Once" function, indicated by the "Once" option flashing on the screen, causing the Looper track to stop automatically at the end. Pressing the right footswitch twice in playback mode stops playback immediately.
If the "Fade out" function is active, pressing the right footswitch in playback mode executes the "Fade Out" function, indicated by the "Fade Out" option flashing on the screen. The Looper track's playback volume will naturally decay to silence and then stop. Pressing the right footswitch twice in playback mode stops playback immediately.
When "Once" and "Fade Out" functions are activated simultaneously, pressing the right footswitch once in playback mode executes both functions. The outcome depends on the track length and the timing of the footswitch press, with the "Once" function taking priority for determining the end of playback.
Clear
To clear a track, double-press the right footswitch in playback mode and hold for one second, or long-press the right footswitch in Stop mode for one second. The light bar flashes red rapidly and then turns off upon completion.
This function applies only to temporary Looper tracks that have not been saved. Saved tracks cannot be cleared using this method.
Looper Data Storage
To save Looper tracks, open the Save screen by pressing the Select knob for one second.
After recording tracks, rotate the knob to select YES/NO and press again to execute the save operation. Saving is completed when the progress bar finishes, and the Memory name changes from "Empty" to "Stored".
Note: If no new track is recorded in DUB mode after saving, the Undo/Redo function will be unavailable.
Clear Looper Data
Open the Save screen by pressing the VOLUME knob for one second.
Select the Looper position containing saved data. Press and hold the Volume knob for one second until a prompt appears. Rotate the knob to select YES/NO and press again to confirm deletion. Upon completion of the progress bar, the data is deleted, and the Memory name reverts to "Empty".
Prompt Description: A prompt appears asking "Are you sure? Deleted content will not be visible and cannot be retrieved!" with YES/NO options. ❓ [Are you sure? Prompt]
Looper Playback Volume Control
Turn the Volume knob to adjust the Looper playback volume. The screen temporarily displays the volume parameter during adjustment. The adjustment range is -∞ to 6 dB. The factory default is 0 dB.
Display Description: The screen shows "Output Volume" with a slider and the current level, e.g., "0.0dB".
PC-based Data Management 11-12
Connect the XS-02 to a computer using a USB cable via the USB port. The Looper will stop playback and become inoperable during connection. The screen will display 'USB Connected' upon successful connection.
Icon Description: A USB connector icon is displayed. ? [USB Connect Icon]
On your computer, navigate to "My Computer" (Windows) or "Finder" (macOS), locate the drive named 'XS-02', and open it.
Inside the 'XS-02' drive, find the 'WAVE' folder. This folder contains subfolders (WO1 to WO40) that correspond to the 40 Looper storage locations on the XS-02 device.
Folder Structure Description: The 'WAVE' folder contains numbered subfolders (e.g., WO1, WO2, WO3, WO4, WO5) representing storage slots. One subfolder, 'WO1', is shown containing an audio file named 'RECO1.WAV'.
Data Export
In the 'WAVE' folder, open the subfolder containing the desired audio data. Drag and drop or copy the audio files to other folders on your computer to complete the data export.
Data Import
Open the subfolder within 'WAVE' that corresponds to the desired Looper location. If a subfolder is empty, it means there is no track data in that Looper location.
Data import is performed by copying an audio file (only 44.1 kHz / 16 Bit WAV stereo audio files are supported) into an empty subfolder. The audio file name must be changed to "RECXX", where "XX" represents the storage number (e.g., rename to REC01 for import to W01).
After disconnecting the USB connection, the screen returns to normal. Switching to the Looper location where data was imported will display the imported data.
Notes:
- If an imported audio file is longer than 4 minutes, only the first 4 minutes will be captured and looped. The remaining part of the file will be deleted.
- Files not meeting the format requirements (44.1 kHz / 16 bit WAV stereo audio file) or not correctly named (RECXX) will not be recognized for import.
Delete Data
Navigate to the 'WAVE' folder and open the subfolder containing existing audio data. Delete the audio files within that subfolder. After disconnecting the USB connection and switching to the memory location on the Looper, it will display "Empty".
