This document provides comprehensive instructions for the VIOFO A329 dash camera, covering installation, operation, settings, and maintenance.

3. Dash Cam Recording Operation
Initial Setup
Upon first activation, the dashcam guides through setup:
- Language Setting: Select language using [Menu Up] and [Menu Down] buttons, confirm with [OK].
- Time Zone Setting: Select time zone using [Menu Up] and [Menu Down] buttons, confirm with [OK].
- Auto Time and Date Setup: Confirm to set time and date automatically via GPS signal.
- Speed Unit Setting: Select MPH or KMH using [Menu Up] and [Menu Down] buttons, confirm with [OK].
- Format microSD Card: Format the card using the [Format] button or via the VIOFO App. The camera restarts after formatting.
- Format External SSD (Optional): Format the SSD if connected.
- Save to SSD: Choose whether to save videos to the external SSD.
Note: Settings can be modified later in the settings menu.
Power On / Off
- Auto-start recording when the engine starts.
- Auto-stop recording when the engine stops or power cable is unplugged.
- Short press [Power] button to power on.
- Long press [Power] button to power off.
Loop Recording
Enabled by default when a microSD card is inserted. Records in 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10-minute segments. Oldest files are overwritten when storage is full.
Emergency Recording
- Automatic: Triggered by G-sensor impact, locks current footage to prevent overwriting.
- Manual: Press the [Video Protect] button during recording to lock the current file.
Note: G-sensor sensitivity is adjustable in settings. Locked files are saved in DCIM\Movie\RO
.
Disable / Enable Audio Recording
Press the [Mic] button [Mic] to turn audio recording on or off. The [Mic] LED indicator will be off or solid blue.
Parking Mode
Requires VIOFO HK4 ACC hardwire kit for continuous power.
- Auto Event Detection: Records when motion is detected. Stops when no movement is detected.
- Time Lapse Recording: Records at low frame rates (1/2/3/5/10 fps) continuously without audio. Supports Super Night Vision (SNV) in 1 fps mode.
- Low Bitrate Recording: Records continuously at a low bitrate, saving file size.
Note: In hot weather (above 60°C), turn off the dashcam to prevent damage.
View on a TV
Connect the dashcam to a monitor or TV using a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable for real-time video display.
4. Playback and Manage Videos
Playback Video on Dashcam
- From standby mode, long press the [Playback] button [Playback] to enter the playlist.
- Use arrow buttons [Menu Up]/[Menu Down] to select a video.
- Press the [Play/Confirm] button [Play] to play.
- Press the [Menu] button [Menu] to exit.
Playback Video on VIOFO APP
Enable Wi-Fi on the dashcam. Connect your phone to the dashcam's Wi-Fi. Open the VIOFO app and select "Connect your camera" to play and manage files.
Playback Video on PC
- Via Memory Card: Turn off the dashcam, remove the microSD card, insert it into a card reader connected to your PC. Play videos from the
DCIM\Movie
folder using a media player like VLC. - Via External SSD: Turn off the dashcam, remove the SSD, connect it to your PC using the Type-C Data Cable. Play videos from the
DCIM\Movie
folder.

File Format Definition
Files are named with format: YYYY_MMDD_HHMMSS_SequenceNumberPF.MP4
(Front Camera) or ...PR.MP4
(Rear Camera). 'P' indicates parking mode recording.
5. Review and Control on Smartphone
Connect to Smartphone
Download the VIOFO app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Alternatively, download the Android APK from the VIOFO website: https://viofo.com/en/content/13-app/.
Connection Steps:
- Turn on Wi-Fi on the dashcam via the menu or by long-pressing the [Wi-Fi] button. The Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password will appear on the screen.
- On your phone, connect to the dashcam's Wi-Fi network (e.g.,
5G_VIOFO_A329_XXXX
). The camera's Wi-Fi LED will turn solid blue upon successful connection. - Open the VIOFO app and select "Connect your camera".
- You can now view live feeds from both cameras, change settings, and manage files.

6. Install Accessories
Install CPL on Front Camera
The Circular Polarizing Lens (CPL) reduces reflections and glare for improved image quality. Align the white mark on the CPL with the corresponding mark on the camera during installation.
Install CPL on Rear Camera (Optional)
Similar installation process for the rear camera CPL.
Install Bluetooth Remote Control (Optional)
The remote control allows safe operation of functions like locking videos, toggling Wi-Fi, and enabling/disabling HDR. To pair, power on the camera and press and hold the video lock button on the remote for 3 seconds. A successful pairing is indicated by a blue LED on the remote.
7. Dashcam Settings
Settings can be accessed via the camera or the VIOFO App. Recording must be stopped to enter the settings menu.
Video Settings
- Resolution: Options include 4K 60fps, 4K 21:9 60fps, 4K 30fps, 4K 21:9 30fps, 2K 60fps, 2K 30fps. For dual recording (Front + Rear): 4K P60 + 2K P30, 4K 21:9 P60 + 2K 21:9, 4K P30 + 2K P30, 4K 21:9 P30 + 2K 21:9, 2K P60 + 2K P30, 2K P30 + 2K P30. (Note: 4K = 3840x2160, 2K = 2560x1440, 21:9 resolutions are wider aspect ratios).
- Video Bitrate: Low / Normal / High / Maximum. Higher bitrate improves quality but uses more storage.
- Loop Recording: 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 Minutes. Sets the duration of each recorded file.
- Record Audio: Turn the microphone on or off using the [Mic] button.
- Exposure Value (Front / Rear): Adjusts brightness from -2.0 to +2.0.
- HDR (Front / Rear): Off / On / Auto HDR Timer. Balances lighting in bright and dark areas. Auto HDR Timer syncs with the front camera.
- G-Sensor: Low to High sensitivity. Locks files upon detecting impact. Recommended setting is 'Low'.
- Stamp: Options to imprint Date, GPS Speed, GPS Coordinates, Custom Text, License Plate, Logo, Brand Model, or Resolution on videos. Stamp text color can be changed (white/yellow/cyan/golden).
- Time-lapse Recording: Off / 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 fps. Records at intervals to save memory.
- Parking Recording:
- Parking Mode: Auto Event Detection, Time Lapse Recording, Low Bitrate Recording.
- Parking Recording Timer: Set duration for parking mode recording (e.g., Off, 1 Hour).
- Enter Parking Mode Timer: Delay before entering parking mode (e.g., Off, 90 Seconds).
- Parking G-sensor: Sensitivity for event recording during parking (suggested: High).
- Parking Motion Detection: Sensitivity to avoid false triggers from wind/rain.
- Parking GPS: Turn GPS logger on/off in parking mode.
- Parking HDR: Turn HDR on/off in parking mode.
- Image Rotate & Mirror: Turn on/off rear camera image rotation/mirroring.
- Custom Text Stamp: Imprint custom text on videos.
- License Plate Number: Imprint the car's license plate number.
- Live Video Source: Front Camera / Rear Camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. Select which camera feed to display.
- Privacy Mode: Limits saved files to the latest 2 (single) or 4 (dual) recordings.
System Settings
- Wi-Fi: Off / 2.4GHz / 5GHz. 5GHz is recommended. Long press [Wi-Fi] button to enable quickly.
- Bluetooth Button Function: Customize functions for the Bluetooth remote control (e.g., Microphone, Photo, Wi-Fi, Power Off, Timelapse, HDR).
- Time Zone: Set current time zone for GPS time synchronization. Manual adjustment needed for daylight saving time (except US regions).
- Time Format: 24H / 12H.
- Daylight Saving: Off / United States.
- Date/Time: Manually set system date and time.
- Boot Delay: Off / 5 Seconds / 10 Seconds. Adds a delay before the camera boots.
- LED: All Off / All On / Power LED Only. Control indicator LEDs.
- Parking Mode LED: Control indicator LEDs specifically during parking mode.
- Manage SSD Storage: Backup MicroSD card files to SSD or delete SSD files.
- Video Storage: Choose MicroSD Card or External SSD as the primary storage.
- Beep Sound: Off / Only Keytone / Only Boot Sound / All. Enable/disable button and startup sounds.
- Voice Notification: Turn on/off voice alerts. Volume can be adjusted (Low/Medium/High).
- Voice Control: Turn on/off voice commands. Supported languages for commands are English, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese. For other system languages, only English commands work.
- Voice Command: Examples include: Take Photo, Turn On Audio, Turn On Screen, Turn On Wi-Fi, Show Front Camera, Show Both Cameras, Video Start, Turn Off Audio, Turn Off Screen, Turn Off Wi-Fi, Show Rear Camera, Lock The Video.
- GPS: Turn on/off GPS logger. GPS data includes location and speed, and synchronizes time/date. Use "Dashcam Viewer" software for playback with GPS data visualization.
- Speed Units: Kilometer per hour (KMH) or Miles per hour (MPH).
- Screen Saver: Set screen to turn black after a period of inactivity (e.g., 1 minute).
- Video Out OSD: Off / On. Control whether OSD information is displayed when connected via Micro HDMI.
- Frequency: Set to minimize video flickering and banding.
- Language: Select the display language (e.g., English, Traditional Chinese, French).
- Format: Format MicroSD Card or External SSD. All data will be erased. Back up important files first.
- Format Reminder: Set reminders for formatting the memory card (Off / 15 / 30 / 60 Days).
- Default Setting: Restore the device to factory settings.
- Version: Check the current firmware version.
File Lists
- Video: Access recorded video files.
- Photo: Access recorded photo files.
8. Firmware Upgrade
Follow instructions on viofo.com to upgrade firmware. Ensure the microSD card is formatted in the camera before use. Do not power off the camera during the upgrade process. Firmware upgrade is not supported via external SSD.
