Introduction

This document provides instructions for the VIOFO VS1 Dash Camera and its accessories, including the VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit.

VIOFO VS1 Dash Camera

The VIOFO VS1 is a high-resolution dash camera designed for automotive use.

VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit Installation

The VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit allows the dash camera to be powered directly from the vehicle's fuse box, enabling parking mode features.

Wiring Connections:

• ACC (Yellow Wire): Connect to a fuse that receives power when the ignition is ON. This enables normal recording and parking mode when the engine is off but ACC is active.
• GND (Black Wire): Connect to a secure metal ground point in the vehicle chassis.
• POWER (Red Wire): Connect to a fuse that is constantly powered (battery). This ensures the camera has power even when the vehicle is off, for parking mode.

Input/Output:

• Input: 12V/24V DC
• Output: 5V 2A Max (via USB Type-C)

Note: Ensure correct fuse taps are used and connections are secure.

Using the VIOFO APP

The VIOFO APP allows you to control the dash camera, view live footage, download recordings, and adjust settings.

Connecting to the APP:

1. Enable Wi-Fi on the dash camera.
2. On your smartphone, search for the Wi-Fi network named "VIOFO_VS1_XXXX" (where XXXX is a unique identifier).
3. Connect to the network using the default password "12345678".
4. Open the VIOFO APP on your smartphone.
5. The APP will automatically detect and connect to the dash camera.

APP Features:

• Live View
• Playback recorded videos
• Download videos and photos to your smartphone
• Adjust camera settings (resolution, frame rate, G-sensor sensitivity, etc.)
• Format the MicroSD card
• Update dash camera firmware

MicroSD Card Requirements

Use a high-quality MicroSD card for reliable operation.

• Type: MicroSD Card
• Endurance: High Endurance cards recommended.
• Speed Class: UHS-I U1 or U3
• Capacity: Up to 512GB supported.
• File System: FAT32 (for cards up to 32GB) or exFAT (for cards larger than 32GB).

It is recommended to format the MicroSD card using the camera's built-in format function or the GUIFormat tool available at https://viofo.com/download/guiformat.exe.

File Structure

Recorded files are stored in the following directories on the MicroSD card:

• Videos: DCIM/Movie/
• Parking Mode Videos: DCIM/Movie/RO/
• Photos: DCIM/Photo/

Key Settings and Features

• Video Resolution: Options typically include 2560x1440P @ 30fps, 1920x1080P @ 30fps.
• Frame Rate: Configurable options (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 30 fps).
• Loop Recording: Automatically overwrites the oldest files when the card is full. Users can select recording segment lengths (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 minutes).
• Exposure Value (EV): Adjusts image brightness. Range typically from -2.0 to +2.0.
• HDR (High Dynamic Range): Enhances detail in bright and dark areas.
• WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Similar to HDR, improves dynamic range.
• Parking Mode: Records automatically when motion or impact is detected while the vehicle is parked. Requires a constant power source and ACC connection via the hardwire kit.
• G-Sensor: Detects impacts and automatically protects the current recording from being overwritten. Sensitivity is adjustable (e.g., Low, Medium, High).
• Wi-Fi: Operates on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for connection to the VIOFO APP.
• GPS: Records location and speed data. Speed can be displayed in KPH or MPH. Requires the optional GPS module. GPS data can be viewed using compatible software like "Dashcam Viewer".
• Date Stamp: Embeds date and time onto video recordings.
• Audio Recording: Option to record audio along with video.
• Firmware Update: Updates can be performed via the VIOFO APP or by manually updating the firmware file on the MicroSD card.
