Important: SAVE ALL REMOVED PARTS FOR USE DURING REASSEMBLY.
Preparation
GET READY
- Push down on the backrest release lever, then fold the backrest forward onto the chair seat. [Diagram 1: Illustrates the backrest release lever and the backrest folded forward.]
- Power off the chair and unplug it.
Removing the Actuator
- Locate the connector box underneath the chair on the right-hand side. [Diagram 2: Shows the connector box location on the right side of the chair base.]
- Using a small Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the connector box cover, then remove the cover.
- Disconnect the larger of the two connectors inside.
- Lying on your back underneath the right-hand side of the chair, locate the backrest actuator. [Diagram 3: Depicts the backrest actuator and its cable, viewed from the underside of the chair.]
- Using a short-handled Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the five screws and their washers. Note: A short-handled screwdriver helps maintain a straight angle to prevent stripping screws.
- Remove the actuator from the chair base.
Installing the New Actuator
- Lying on your back underneath the right-hand side of the chair, place the new actuator into position on the bottom of the chair base, aligning all five mounting holes. Note: The backrest may have shifted after the actuator was removed, requiring slight adjustment to align the holes.
- Replace the five screws and hand-tighten them.
- Secure the screws using a short-handled Phillips-head screwdriver.
- Reconnect the actuator cable.
- Position the actuator cable connector inside the connector box, ensuring cables are in the cable guides.
- Replace the connector box cover using a small Phillips-head screwdriver and the two screws previously removed.
- Power on the chair and verify that the new actuator functions correctly.
