Rinnai RSC199i, RSC160i Condensing Tankless Water Heater
Super-High-Efficiency (Condensing) Tankless Water Heater with Integrated Recirculation Pump
Circ-Logic Recirculation Technology
Rinnai Circ-Logic recirculation technology allows users to set recirculation patterns that coincide with their hot water usage patterns. Hot water is available when needed, without the expense of circulating it during times of inactivity. Two recirculation modes are available:
- Dedicated Mode: With a dedicated return line, the integrated pump recirculates water from the tankless water heater through the return line and back to the heater.
- Crossover Mode: In applications where a dedicated return line is not available or is difficult to install, Circ-Logic technology allows for the simple installation of a Thermal Bypass Valve (included with purchase) at the fixture farthest away from the water heater.
Conceptual Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates the Circ-Logic system, showing water flowing from the tankless heater, through a return line (Dedicated Mode) or a Thermal Bypass Valve at a fixture (Crossover Mode), and back to the heater.

Rinnai SENSEI™ Dimensions
Dimensions Diagram Description: The diagram shows front, side, and bottom views of the tankless water heater with key dimensions labeled in inches and millimeters. The front view shows width (18.5 in.), height (26.4 in.), and depth (11.4 in.). The side view details height (26.4 in.) and depth (11.4 in.). The bottom view indicates connection points for Gas, Cold Water, Hot Water, and PRV (Pressure Relief Valve) with their respective dimensions.
Vent Connection: 2 in. (51 mm) nominal PVC/Polypropylene or 3 in./5 in. Concentric.
Connection Ports (Dimensions):
- COLD: F 9.27 in. (235 mm), C 3.15 in. (79 mm)
- HOT: H 14.49 in. (368 mm), B 6.56 in. (166 mm)
- GAS: E 3.57 in. (91 mm), D 2.79 in. (71 mm)
- PRV: G 10.40 in. (264 mm), A 7.60 in. (193 mm)
Rinnai SENSEI™ Water Flow Curve
Water Flow Curve Description: This graph illustrates water flow rate in Gallons Per Minute (GPM) on the y-axis against Delta T (Temperature Rise) in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) on the x-axis. It shows separate curves for the RSC199i (higher flow rate) and RSC160i (lower flow rate). Dashed lines indicate flow rate after parameter adjustment. The note states that flow curves apply only to incoming water temperatures of 70° F (21° C) or less, and maximum flow rates may vary based on set temperature, Delta T, and altitude. For incoming water temperatures greater than 70° F (21° C), users should contact Rinnai.
Rinnai SENSEI™ Pump Performance and Pump + Tankless Performance Curve
Pump Performance Curve Description: This graph displays Pressure Loss (in feet of Head) on the y-axis against Water Flow (GPM) on the x-axis. It shows two performance lines for the integrated recirculation pump: 'MAX' and 'LOW'. The 'MAX' setting shows higher pressure loss at higher flow rates, while the 'LOW' setting shows lower pressure loss.
Recirculation Pump Control
- Smart-Circ™ "learns" users' hot water patterns to activate recirculation.
- Manual schedule selection is available with Accessory controllers (MC-195T or control-r™ Wi-Fi module).
- The integrated pump allows for recirculation through a dedicated return line or crossover with a thermal bypass valve.
Maximum Recirculation Pipe Lengths
- 400 equivalent feet for 3/4 in. pipe diameter
- 100 equivalent feet for 1/2 in. pipe diameter
Note: Take equivalent elbow lengths into consideration when calculating pipe length. For dedicated return lines, total length includes both hot water supply and dedicated return lines. For cross-over mode, total length includes both hot water supply and cold water piping length from the tankless water heater to the thermal bypass valve. Cross-over mode requires the use of a thermal bypass valve (included).
