DAB Digital Radio Receiver Controls
DAB Radio Controls
This section details the controls for the DAB digital radio receiver.
- DAB 1/2/3: Select a DAB band (1, 2, or 3). The previously used channel in that band will be activated. Press again to close the option.
- Displays the current channel, group, and DAB text information.
- Seek Back: Press to find the previous channel. Press and hold to find the previous group. The first channel of the new group is selected.
- Channel Information: Press to view DAB text information and information transmitted by channels.
- Seek Forward: Press to find the next channel. Press and hold to find the next group. The first channel of the new group is selected.
- Settings: Access the DAB settings menu.
- Settings (Options): Enable/disable FM Traffic (traffic information) and Link DAB (DAB connection). Change the DAB country and format settings for digital radio broadcasting (for stationary vehicles).
- Announcements: Select alert messages and up to 3 other types of messages (traffic, news, etc.) from a list. Selected announcements interrupt the current transmission.
- Channel List: View a list of available groups and channels. Sort by Ensemble (Group), Channel, Subchannel, or Category.
- Selecting Ensemble displays all channels within that group.
- Sorting by Subchannel is available only when subchannels are broadcast on the current channel.
- Selecting Category allows you to choose a category to view corresponding channels before selecting from the list.
- Subchannel: If subchannels are broadcast on the current channel, this button becomes active. Select to allow subchannel use, then select the desired subchannel using the seek forward/back buttons.
- Auto-tune: Search for all available DAB groups/channels. Auto-tune should be performed before using the DAB radio for the first time. It is also useful for tuning to regional groups during long trips. An on-screen pop-up indicates the process. Auto-tune does not affect current presets, but some may become unavailable if their channels are not found (indicated as 'No reception').
- Presets: Six preset radio stations are available for each DAB band. Press and release to tune to a preset station. Press and hold to save the current station as a preset (radio sound will be muted during saving). Use steering wheel seek buttons to select the next or previous preset station.
Note: If you try to select a saved channel that is currently unavailable or not working, a 'No reception' message will appear.
DAB Radio Settings
Within the Settings menu:
- Link DAB (DAB Connection): If Link DAB is enabled and the signal level of a channel drops below the acceptable level, the audio system will automatically search for other available groups that have a channel with the same name. If an alternative local channel is found, broadcasting will automatically switch to the new channel after a few seconds. If no channel is found within a few seconds, a 'No reception' message will appear. 'Link' is displayed on the touch screen if Link DAB is activated.
- DAB country: Select the DAB country when entering a new country. Scroll through the list of countries and make your selection. An automatic tuning prompt will appear. Note: This function is not active while driving.
- DAB format: Select the DAB format if you are in a region with a different digital broadcast range. Available formats include:
- "L Band" (L-band).
- "Band III" (Band III).
- "L Band & Band III" (L-band and Band III).
- "L Band Canada" (L-band, Canada).
- "L Band Can & Band III" (L-band, Canada, and Band III).
Groups
Unlike AM/FM radio, DAB transmits multiple stations/channels on a single frequency. Several channels form a group. Some channels within groups may have subchannels, allowing you to select a subchannel to listen to. If the signal is lost while driving, it may be because you have left the broadcast area of a particular group. Press Auto-tune to create a new list of groups.
