Safety Instructions

• Disconnect power before installing, adding, or changing any component.
• To avoid a hazard to children, account for all parts and destroy all packing materials.
• It is recommended that a 5 Amp standard automotive fuse protection be added to the positive (+) input.
• The addressable Reed is NOT polarity protected. Wiring the light incorrectly could cause damage.

Installation Considerations

• Do not bend lighting more than necessary; it should only be bent to a 1" radius. Bending to a tight 90° angle could cause damage to the circuit.
• Only bend the LED ribbon in one natural direction; do not try to bend in an unnatural direction such as twisting.
• Ensure surfaces are smooth, clean, and free of dust and debris before installing. Failure to properly clean the surface may result in loss of adhesion.
• Rough surfaces may prevent proper adhesion. Screw-in mounting channels can be used if adhesion failure occurs.

Installation Steps

1. Determine Installation Location

Lights can be attached via the adhesive backing or a mounting channel. Clean the surface with a 50% water/50% Isopropyl alcohol mixture and let it dry. Apply Primer 94 as recommended by 3M* for optimal adhesion. Failure to follow surface preparation guidelines voids the warranty. Mounting channels are available as screw mounts, with screws recommended every 12 inches. Remove any existing adhesive from the light before installing in a channel.

2. Wiring

Wire the light based on the provided diagrams. Note: Addressable Reed tape light requires one driver (part #810-00719) for every 5.5A of power used. Multiple light lengths can be wired to a single driver. Diagrams cover Single Color Reed, RGB Reed, and Addressable Reed configurations.

3. Bending Considerations

Review the following limitations to ensure successful installation:

• Flexible light cannot be field cut; doing so voids the warranty.
• Do not horizontally bend to a radius of less than 11.8".
• Do not axially bend to a height of more than 0.312" within a 0.78" segment.
• Do not bend to a radius of less than 1/2" (for the flexible light itself).
• Do not twist more than 90° over the length of one 24V segment or two 12V segments.
• Avoid bending the flexible light at a 90° angle.
• Do not bend directly at the solder joint; only bend the wire.
