First Time Usage Guide

Step 01

1. Access the mobile app store to download and install the Timekettle APP. Ensure your phone is compatible: Android 7 and above, or iOS 12 and above.

Remarks:

• Please do not connect the earbuds via your phone's Bluetooth settings; connect them directly through the APP. You will not find WT2 Edge in the Bluetooth settings.
• The WT2 Edge is designed for translation purposes only and is not suitable for mobile phone calls or music playback.
• Speak loudly and clearly for the best translation accuracy. Avoid using slang and non-frequent words.
• If the translation is inaccurate, try rephrasing your sentence.

Step 02: Connecting the Earbuds

1. Open the Timekettle APP, select WT2 Edge, turn on Bluetooth, and grant necessary system permissions (audio recording, device location, etc.).
2. Take out both earbuds. When the green light flashes, click the connect buttons for 'L' and 'R'. A solid green light on both earbuds indicates a successful connection.

Simul Mode

Simul mode allows for continuous, real-time translation without needing to interact with the earbuds or phone screen. Spoken sentences are automatically recognized and translated to the language the other person is using.

1. Click the main menu bar on the phone screen and select 'Simul mode'.
2. Click the menu bar in the upper right corner of the phone screen to select the translation languages for the left and right earbuds.
3. Click 'Confirm'.

Remarks:

• Speak loud and clear for optimal translation accuracy. Avoid slang and non-frequent words.
• If translation is inaccurate, try rephrasing your expression.

Touch Mode

In Touch mode, the WT2 Edge translator earbuds are activated by touching the sensor area with your finger. Touch once to start speaking, and touch again after you have finished. Translation occurs within 1-3 seconds.

1. Click the main menu bar on the phone screen and select 'Touch mode'.
2. Click the menu bar in the upper right corner of the phone screen to select the translation languages for the left and right earbuds.
3. Click 'Confirm'.

• If translation is inaccurate, try rephrasing your expression.

Touch Area: The sensor area on the earbuds is indicated as the 'Touch area'.

Speaker Mode

In Speaker mode, your spoken sentences are translated and played through the speaker on your mobile phone. If the other person wants to speak, they can do so via the phone's speaker.

1. Click the main menu bar on the phone screen and select 'Speaker mode'.
2. Click the menu bar in the upper right corner of the phone screen to select the language for the person wearing the earbud (L or R), and the other language for the person speaking to the phone speaker.
3. Click 'Confirm'.

Remarks:

• In Speaker mode, only one earbud needs to be connected; the other can be placed in the charging case.
• Speak loudly and clearly for optimal translation accuracy. Avoid slang and non-frequent words.
• If translation is inaccurate, try rephrasing your expression.

Group Chat

Group Chat supports up to 40 people speaking 40 different languages simultaneously in a remote chat group. The WT2 Edge uses voice-to-text translation for each participant.

1. Click the main menu bar on the phone screen and select 'Group chat'.
2. Click '[Create Group]', '[Copy] Group Code', and '[Enter Room]' to set your desired languages.
3. Paste the group code when prompted and click 'Join room'.
4. Set the languages you need.

Using Group Chat:

• With Earbud: Touch the earbud once to start speaking, and again after finishing. Your spoken words will appear on your phone screen. Click the sound icon near your partner's words to hear the translation.
• Without Earbud: Tap the screen to start speaking, and tap again after finishing. The APP will provide translated texts without voice output.
• Text Input: Regardless of whether you are wearing an earbud, you can click the keyboard at the bottom of the APP to enter text.

How to Invite Friends to Join a Group

1. Enter the group chat and copy the group code to send to your friends.
2. Ensure your friends have downloaded the APP.
3. Select 'Group chat'.
4. Paste the group code at the prompt and click 'Join room'.

How to Download and Use Offline Package

1. Redeem the Fish Coin:

1. Open the Timekettle APP and navigate to 'My Account'.
2. Click 'Redeem Fish Card'.
3. Enter the PIN from the back of your fish card.
4. Click 'Redeem'.

2. Download Offline Language:

1. Go back to 'My Account'.
2. Click 'Timekettle Store'.
3. Click 'WT2 Edge translator offline language package'.
4. Redeem any available offline language package and confirm.
5. Go back to 'WT2 Edge translator offline language package' and download the redeemed package.

3. Start to Use Offline Language:

1. Enter Simul mode (or another mode) and ensure the selected language matches the downloaded offline package. Click the 'setting' button in the upper right corner of the APP.
2. Turn on the 'Offline translation' button. Then, turn off your phone's network to begin using offline translation.

APP Settings Explained

The 'Setting' menu in the upper right corner of the APP allows for various customizations:

• Rotate ?: Determines the orientation of subtitles on the screen (up or down).
• Font Size ?: Adjusts the size of the text displayed on the screen.
• Sensitivity ?: Controls the volume threshold for the earphone to recognize sound. A smaller value requires higher volume, while a larger value requires lower volume. For noisy environments, increase sensitivity (e.g., 30-100). For quiet environments, decrease sensitivity (e.g., 1-8).
• Offline Translation ?: Enable this for translation without an internet connection. Ensure you have downloaded the offline package beforehand.
• Text Only No Audio ?: Displays translated content as text only, without audio playback.
• Pause Time ⏸️: Adapts to the speaker's speech rate. If the pause interval is set to 1s and the speaker pauses for longer than 1s, the pickup ends. If the speaker continues after a pause shorter than 1s, it's recognized as part of the same sentence.
• Volume Setting ?: Adjusts the volume of the audio playback.

History

Access and manage your translation history:

1. Tap the menu bar in the upper left corner to access the recording history, displayed in a timeline format with the latest conversations at the top.
2. The mode of each recording can be identified by its icon.
3. Tap the upper right corner to delete or bookmark recorded conversations.
4. Press and hold a conversation, then tap the upper right corner to select and export content via text copy or email.

Text Translation

1. Tap the menu bar in the upper left corner to enter 'Text translation'. Tap the language selection in the upper right corner to set the desired translation languages.
2. Enter the content to be translated in the text box and tap the checkmark (✔️) in the upper right corner.
