Microlife MT 410 Digital Antimicrobial Thermometer

Accurate, Safe, and Hygienic Temperature Measurement

Product Description

The Microlife MT 410 Digital Antimicrobial Medical Thermometer provides highly accurate readings of human body temperature. It features antimicrobial copper properties that reduce microbial flora and minimize the dispersion of contagious microorganisms, enhancing safety for the user.

Antimicrobial Copper Properties

Surfaces made or covered by special copper alloys possess strong antimicrobial properties against a wide variety of microorganisms. Copper alloys emit antimicrobial copper ions (Cu+) that, upon contact with microbes and bacteria, rupture their cellular membranes, thereby destroying these microorganisms. This activity reduces microbial flora on the coated area and, due to the "halo phenomenon," simultaneously causes a drastic reduction in pathogens on the rest of the thermometer. Thermometers with antimicrobial copper alloy parts significantly reduce microbial flora, minimizing the spread of contagious microorganisms and ensuring high safety for the end-user.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Follow instructions for use.
  • Use only for measuring human body temperature via oral, rectal, or axillary routes. Do not attempt measurements at other sites (e.g., ear) as it may lead to false readings or injury.
  • Do not use if damaged or if anything unusual is noticed.
  • Clean the device according to instructions before first use for personal hygiene.
  • Always maintain the minimum measurement time until the beep is heard. Note that some measurement locations may require continued measurement even after the beep.
  • Do not attempt rectal measurements on persons with rectal disorders, as it may aggravate the condition.
  • Ensure children do not use the device unsupervised; some parts are small enough to be swallowed. Be aware of the risk of strangulation if the device has cables or tubes.
  • Avoid using near strong electromagnetic fields (e.g., mobile phones, radio installations). Maintain a minimum distance of 3.3 meters from such devices.
  • Protect the device from impact and dropping.
  • Avoid bending the thermometer probe more than 45°.
  • Avoid ambient temperatures above 60°C. NEVER boil the device.
  • Use only specified commercial disinfectants for cleaning to avoid damage.
  • It is recommended to test the device for accuracy every two years or after mechanical impact (e.g., dropping). Contact local Microlife-Service for testing.

⚠️ WARNING: The measurement result given by this device is not a diagnosis! Do not rely solely on the measurement result.

Getting Started

Turning on the Thermometer

Press the [ON/OFF Button] 1. A short beep signals "thermometer ON." A display test is performed, showing all segments. The last measurement reading is displayed automatically for 2 seconds with the "M" icon. If the ambient temperature is below 32°C, "L" and a flashing "C" appear on the [Display] 2. The thermometer is now ready.

Function Test

The thermometer automatically tests its correct functioning each time it is turned on. If a malfunction is detected (measurement inaccuracy), "ERR" is displayed, and measurement becomes impossible. The thermometer must be replaced in this case.

Using the Thermometer

Before use, keep the thermometer out of any physical contact for at least 2 hours to utilize its antimicrobial copper properties. Antimicrobial copper use is a supplement, not a substitute, for standard infection control practices. Users must continue to follow all current infection control and cleaning practices. Cleaning should be done as described in the "Cleaning and Disinfecting" section.

Choose your preferred measuring method. During measurement, the current temperature is continuously displayed, and the "C" symbol flashes. When the beep sounds 10 times and the "C" stops flashing, it means the temperature increase was less than 0.1°C in 5 seconds.

To prolong battery life, briefly press the [ON/OFF Button] 1 to turn off the thermometer. Otherwise, it will automatically turn off after about 10 minutes.

Storage of Measured Values

To recall the last measured maximum temperature, press and hold the [ON/OFF Button] 1 for more than 3 seconds when turning on the thermometer. The "M" icon will appear on the [Display] 2. The temperature value disappears after about 3 seconds, and the thermometer is ready for measurement.

Measuring Methods / Normal Body Temperature

In the Armpit (Axillary)

Wipe the underarm with a dry towel. Place the [Measuring Sensor] 4 in the center of the armpit, ensuring it touches the skin. Position the patient's arm next to their body to prevent room air from affecting the reading. Due to the longer time required for axillary measurements to stabilize, wait at least 5 minutes after the beep. Normal body temperature: 34.7 - 37.3 °C. Approximate measuring time: Not specified, but requires waiting after beep.

In the Mouth (Oral)

Do not eat or drink anything hot or cold for 10 minutes before measurement. Keep the mouth closed for up to 2 minutes before starting. Position the thermometer in one of the two pockets under the tongue, left or right of the tongue root, ensuring the [Measuring Sensor] 4 has good contact with the tissue. Close your mouth and breathe evenly through your nose. Normal body temperature: 35.5 - 37.5 °C. Approximate measuring time: 10 seconds.

In the Anus (Rectal)

Use of a probe cover and lubricant is recommended. Carefully insert the [Measuring Sensor] 4 1 to 2 cm into the anal aperture. Consult a professional for guidance if unsure. Normal body temperature: 36.6 - 38.0 °C. Approximate measuring time: 10 seconds.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

For home use disinfection, use a 70% Isopropyl alcohol swab or a cotton tissue moistened with 70% Isopropyl alcohol to wipe the probe. Always wipe from the end of the probe (approx. the middle) towards the tip. Then, immerse the entire probe (see No. 5) in 70% Isopropyl alcohol for at least 5 minutes (max. 24 hours). Allow the disinfectant to dry for 1 minute before next use. Avoid immersing or wiping the display to prevent fading. The thermometer is not intended for professional use.

Battery Installation and Replacement

When the ? symbol appears in the [Display], the battery is low and needs replacing. Remove the [Battery Compartment Cover] 3. Insert a new battery with the + terminal facing up. Use the same battery type (SR41, 1.55V). Batteries are available at electrical stores.
