Important Safety Instructions

  • Follow instructions for use. Read this document thoroughly and keep for future reference.
  • Use only for measuring human body temperature orally, rectally, or axillary. Do not use for other sites like the ear.
  • Do not use if the device appears damaged or unusual.
  • Clean according to instructions before first use for personal hygiene.
  • Maintain minimum measurement time until the beep. Note that some locations may require longer measurement after the beep.
  • Rectal measurement in children under 3 years should only be performed by trained healthcare personnel due to risk of perforation. Use alternative methods or thermometers with flexible tips.
  • Do not attempt rectal measurements on persons with rectal disorders.
  • Ensure children do not use the device unsupervised; some parts are small enough to be swallowed. Be aware of strangulation risk if cables/tubes are present.
  • Do not use near strong electromagnetic fields (e.g., mobile phones, radio installations). Maintain a minimum distance of 3.3 m.
  • Protect the device from impact and dropping.
  • Avoid ambient temperatures above 60 °C. Never boil the device.
  • Use only specified disinfectants (70% Isopropyl alcohol) to clean the device to avoid damage.
  • It is recommended to test the device for accuracy every two years or after mechanical impact. Contact Microlife-Service.

WARNING: The measurement result is not a diagnosis. Do not rely solely on the measurement result.

Batteries and electronic devices must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations, not with domestic waste.

Using the Thermometer

Turning on the Thermometer: Press the ON/OFF button (1). A short beep signals "thermometer ON". A display test is performed. If the ambient temperature is below 32 °C, "L" and a flashing "°C" appear, indicating readiness.

Function Test: The thermometer self-tests automatically upon turning on. If a malfunction is detected (e.g., measurement inaccuracy), "ERR" will be displayed, and measurement will be impossible. The thermometer must be replaced.

Taking a Measurement: Choose a measuring method. The current temperature is displayed, and the "°C" symbol flashes. When 10 beeps are heard and "°C" stops flashing, the measured temperature increase is less than 0.1 °C in 16 seconds.

To save battery, briefly press the ON/OFF button (1) to turn off the thermometer. It will automatically turn off after approximately 10 minutes.

Storage of Measured Values: Press and hold the ON/OFF button (1) for more than 2 seconds when turning on the thermometer to display the maximum temperature from the last measurement. An "M" for memory will appear. The value disappears after about 2 seconds, and the thermometer is ready for measurement.

Measuring Methods / Normal Body Temperature

In the armpit (axillary)

Normal range: 34.7-37.3 °C

Wipe the underarm with a dry towel. Place the measuring sensor (4) under the arm in the center of the armpit, ensuring the tip touches the skin. Position the patient's arm next to the body to prevent room air from affecting the reading. Wait at least 5 minutes, regardless of the beep sound, as axillary measurements take longer to stabilize.

In the mouth (oral)

Normal range: 35.5 - 37.5 °C

Do not eat or drink anything hot or cold 10 minutes before measurement. Keep the mouth closed for up to 2 minutes before starting. Position the thermometer under the tongue, to the left or right of the tongue root, ensuring good contact with the tissue. Close the mouth and breathe evenly through the nose. If mouth breathing is unavoidable due to blocked airways, use another method. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute.

In the anus (rectal)

Normal range: 36.6 - 38.0 °C

Attention: For children under 3 years, use another method or a thermometer with a flexible tip due to the risk of rectal perforation. Carefully insert the measuring sensor (4) 2 to 3 cm into the anal aperture. Using a probe cover and lubricant is recommended. Consult a professional for guidance if unsure about this method. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

For home use: Use a 70% Isopropyl alcohol swab or tissue to wipe the thermometer probe. Start wiping from the middle of the thermometer towards the tip. For thorough disinfection, immerse the entire thermometer in 70% Isopropyl alcohol for at least 5 minutes (maximum 24 hours). Allow to dry for 1 minute before next use.

For professional use: Probe covers are available as accessories. Contact Microlife for details on suitable disinfectants.

Battery Replacement

When the [low battery indicator] symbol (upside-down triangle) appears, the battery needs replacing. Remove the battery compartment cover (3). Insert the new battery with the '+' terminal at the top. Use a battery of the same type (LR41 or SR41). Batteries are available at electrical stores.
