Screw Reference
Latches and Strikes
- A: Screw A: Long screw with coarse threads for latches and strikes.
- B: Screw B: Shorter screw with coarse threads for latches and strikes.
- C: Screw C: Very long screw with coarse threads for latches and strikes.
- D: Screw D: Medium screw with coarse threads for latches and strikes.
Deadbolt and Handleset
- E: Screw E: Long screw with fine threads for deadbolt and handleset.
- F: Screw F: Medium screw with fine threads for deadbolt and handleset.
- G: Screw G: Bolt with a flat head for deadbolt and handleset.
Levers and Knobs
- H: Screw H: Short screw with fine threads for levers and knobs.
- I: Screw I: Very short screw with fine threads for levers and knobs.
Step 1: Adjust backset of latches (if needed)
Diagrams show how to adjust the latch mechanism for different door backsets: 2-3/8" (60 mm) and 2-3/4" (70 mm).
Step 2: Install top latch
Option 1: Door edge chiseled
Option 2: Door edge NOT chiseled
Use screw B (x2).
Note: For a 1-1/2" (38 mm) diameter hole, test if latch extends and retracts. Chisel out area if required.

Step 3: Install bottom latch

Option 2: Door edge NOT chiseled
Use screw B (x2).

Step 4: Install deadbolt
Option 1: Handleset has Two Cylinders
A. Make sure turnpiece is vertical.
B. Install the deadbolt mechanism. Use the provided part if the hole diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm).
Proceed to Step 5: Option 1
Option 2: Handleset has One Cylinder
A. Make sure turnpiece is vertical.
B. Install the deadbolt mechanism. Use the provided part if the hole diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm).
Proceed to Step 5: Option 2
Step 5: Install handleset
Option 1: Double Cylinder
Attach the handleset. Ensure the rounded edge of the latch faces the latch.
Use screw G.
Option 2: Single Cylinder
Attach the handleset. Ensure the rounded edge of the latch faces the latch.
Use screw F.
If adjustment is required, pull and rotate the half round 180 degrees [180 degree rotation].
The post is adjustable and can be moved to any position within the slot.
Step 6: Install lever or knob
If screws are not visible on lever or knob, skip to Step 7.
Option 1: Visible Screws
Attach the lever/knob using screw I (1x).
Attach the mounting plate using screws J (2x).
Option 2: Visible Screws
Attach the lever/knob using screw I (1x).
Attach the mounting plate using screw H.
Step 7: Install strike on door frame
A. Attach the strike plate to the door frame using screws C (x2), D (x2), and A (x2).
Make sure the hole in the door frame is drilled a minimum of 1" (25 mm) deep.
Longer screws (3" / 76 mm) install closest to the jamb for maximum security.
B. Close the door and test the handleset operation. If the latch is loose in the strike, adjust the strike tab so it grips the latch better when the door is closed.
