How to Get a Successful Scan
What Can Be Scanned?
Great to Scan Under Auto Scan Mode
- Objects larger than 30 x 30 x 30 mm (1.2 x 1.2 x 1.2 in)
- Objects smaller than 250 x 250 x 250 mm (38 x 38 x 38 in)
- Object weighing less than 5 kg (11 lbs)
Difficult to Scan:
- Transparent objects like glass
- Shining or reflective objects like varnished metal parts
- Dark color objects like a black keyboard
- Fuzzy objects like hair
- Solution: Painting white powder on objects will improve the scan quality.
Do NOT Suggest to Scan
- Moving objects
- Hollow pattern objects like Eiffel Tower souvenirs
- Objects smaller than 30 x 30 x 30 mm (1.2 x 1.2 x 1.2 in)
Scan Process
Build Project
STEP 01: Click "New Project" button to start a new scan.
Texture Scan Option
STEP 02: Choose texture scan if texture is needed for the object. Or, choose non-texture scan (Texture scan takes longer time). White balance should be done before texture scanning.
Place Object
STEP 03: Make sure the object is stable during scanning.
Adjust Brightness
STEP 04: Choose the brightness setting according to the object's surface condition. Too much red appears in the object's preview window means overexposure; please check the exposure instruction in the manual.
- Bright
- Dark or difficult to scan
- Bright & Dark
- Medium
Scan
STEP 05: Click the Scan button to start scanning.
Edit Scan
STEP 06: Edit buttons include: 1 Deselect, 2 Revert, 3 Delete, 4 Undo, 5 Show/Hide Stripes. Click to save data and exit the single-piece edition.
Complete the Scan in More Directions
STEP 07: Sometimes, if one rotation cannot give you a full scan, place the object in other directions to capture the missing faces. After editing, save the current scanned data; the current data will be aligned to the last scanned data automatically.
Manual Alignment
STEP 08: If automatic alignment fails during scanning, you can use manual alignment. (Misalignment does not frequently happen. Please refer to the user manual for details on manual alignment.)
Mesh
STEP 09: When the scan is completed, proceed to mesh. You can select a Watertight or Unwatertight model based on your request.
- Watertight is a closed model which can be printed directly.
- Unwatertight model is a non-closed model, keeping the missing scanned area as it is, which is usually chosen for further design purposes in other programs.
Save
Asc, stl, obj, and ply formats are available.
Press the touch switch for 1 second twice to turn the scanner off.
