Local Activation: Or do local activation and find the license in the USB drive [USB-drive].
Attention: If you install another device of a different serial number, the software will automatically notify users to activate this device.
Calibration
Camera Calibration
STEP 01: Follow the instructions on the software to place the calibration board [calibration-board] in 5 different positions. Hold the scanner vertically and cover the screen range.
STEP 02: [calibration-step-2]
STEP 03: [calibration-step-3]
STEP 04: [calibration-step-4]
STEP 05: [calibration-step-5]
White Balance Calibration
Only required for Color Pack.
Hold the scanner vertically to the back side of the calibration board [calibration-board] (white side) and adjust the distance until you find the proper distance.
Calibration is required by default the first time installing the software. Calibration is also required for the following:
- Device Change
- After device enduring bumpy transportation
- After device accuracy decreases
- Device being uncalibrated for a long time (e.g., 15 days)
- When using the Color Pack, if the texture camera's [texture-camera] position has been changed.
Scanning Modes and Workflows
Fixed Scan
Workflow: New Project or Open Project
Alignment Options: Markers Alignment, Turntable Coded Targets Alignment, Feature Alignment
For Fixed Scan With Turntable: Adjust Angle and Distance, Adjust Brightness, Scan
For Fixed Scan Without Turntable: Adjust Brightness, Scan
Post-Scan: Edit (Shift + Mouse Left selects part, turns red; edit using buttons on the right), Continue Scanning, Finish.
Decision Points:
- Auto Align: Correctly or Not? (Y/N)
- Manual Align: Correctly or Not? (Y/N)
- Finish or Not? (Y/N)
Output: Save point cloud (ASC), Mesh (Watertight/Unwatertight), Save Mesh (OBJ, STL, PLY, etc.)
Handheld HD Scan
Workflow: New Project or Open Project
Settings: Select Align Mode, Select Texture, Select Operation Mode, Select Resolution
Scanning: Preview, Scan
Tips for Scanning:
- Click the start button once to preview.
- Click the start button once again to start scan.
- To adjust brightness before or during scan, click the start button twice, and use [+] and [-] to highlight or shadow.
- Keep the scanner vertically to the object surface.
- Optimize distance using the color range on the screen or scanner (Green color indicates appropriate distance).

Scanning Tips and Summary
Scan Mode Selection Guide
- Use Handheld Rapid Scan mode when: A fast scanning experience is needed; Objects have good geometry for feature alignment; Objects are hard to move or too big to stay on turntable for scanning.
- Use Handheld HD Scan mode when: High accuracy and high resolution by handheld scanning is required; Objects are hard to move or too big to stay on turntable for scanning.
- Use Fixed Scan with Turntable mode when: High accuracy and high resolution is required; Objects' footprint is within Ø 150mm which may not cover most coded targets on turntable; Weight is under 5kg; Objects' footprint is above Ø150mm with rich geometry features can also work in Fixed Scan with Turntable mode through feature alignment.
- Use Fixed Scan without Turntable mode when: High accuracy and high resolution is required; Objects are too big or heavy to work on turntable.
Summary of Modes
Mode | Accuracy (mm) | Resolution (mm) | Scan Efficiency | Align Mode |
---|---|---|---|---|
Fixed Scan with Turntable | 0.04 | 0.24 | Single Shot, Single Scan < 0.5s | Turntable Coded Targets, Feature, Markers, Manual |
Fixed Scan without Turntable | 0.04 | 0.24 | Single Shot, Single Scan < 0.5s | Markers, Feature (with rich geometrical features on the surface), Hybrid(Markers and Feature) |
Handheld HD Scan (markers alignment) | Up to 0.045 +0.3 mm/m | 0.2 - 3 | 10 fps, 3,000,000 points/s | Markers, Feature (with rich geometrical features on the surface), Hybrid(Markers and Feature) |
Handheld Rapid Scan (markers alignment) | Up to 0.1 +0.3 mm/m | 0.25 - 3 | 30 fps, 1,500,000 points/s | Texture (with rich texture) |
Difficult to Scan Objects and Solutions
Difficult Objects:
- Transparent objects like glasses
- Shining or highly reflective objects like mirrors
- Moving objects or vibrating objects
- Lattice structure with many small deep holes
- Hairy objects like human hair and fur
Recommended Solution:
- Spray with white powder
Note: Some objects are "Not Recommended" for scanning.
