Instructions for 1830-185 TCP/IP Manual Mode to RS-232 Converter Kit

General Information

These instructions are for the TCP/IP adapter, part number 1830-185. This is a manual setup device. For Plug and Play setup, use part number 1830-186 (requires DKS Data over IP or DKS VoIP Voice + Data subscription service).

The 1830-185 Converter Kit is compatible with the following DKS Systems: 1830 Series Telephone Entry and Access Control Systems (1833, 1834, 1835, 1837, 1838).

Refer to the following manuals for additional information:

Connection via Internet

To connect via the internet, the system requires port forwarding to be enabled in the default gateway (router). It also requires either a Static IP address or a DDNS Host service configured in the router. Firewalls must allow communication from the programming PC outside the network. These tasks require IT personnel.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows a computer connected to a router via a network cable. The router is connected to the internet. Another network interface device (NID) is shown connected to the internet via a router. The NID has connections for Ethernet, RS-232, and RS-485. The RS-232 connection is shown going to a DoorKing converter unit.

Connection via LAN
