Installation Steps:
-
1. Prepare Door
Refer to the template provided in the packaging for door preparation instructions. Skip this step if the door has pre-drilled holes.
-
2. Install Latch and Strike Plate
Adjust the latch backset if necessary. To convert from 2-3/8" (60mm) to 2-3/4" (70mm): Hold the latch with numbers facing forward and thumb pressing on the latch. Pull or push the extension plate to the required size. Ensure the cylindrical cover does not extend past 2-3/4" (70mm).
Install the strike plate on the door frame.
-
3. Determine Door "Handing"
View the door from the outside to determine if it is a left-handed or right-handed door. This affects the orientation of the lever.
-
4. Install Exterior Assembly
Ensure the rubber gasket is secured on the exterior assembly. Insert the exterior assembly onto the door. The tailpiece must pass through the deadbolt latch set in a vertical position. Route the control wire through the door, under the deadbolt latch set.
The tailpiece must be in the vertical (up and down) position during installation for the lock to function correctly.
-
5. Install Interior Assembly
Work with the door open. Connect the control wire to the interior assembly. Ensure all pins on the connector are straight and the connection is firm.
Be careful not to pinch the control wire during assembly.
-
6. Install Interior Assembly (continued)
Ensure the interior knob is in the vertical position. Secure the mounting plate to the door. Do not overtighten.
-
7. Install Batteries and Cover
Insert four high-quality AA alkaline batteries. Upon correct installation, the lock should emit two beeps, and the keypad will illuminate. Do not use rechargeable or non-alkaline batteries. Do not touch the keypad until the light turns off.
-
8. Test Operation
Test the lock button with the door open. Test unlocking using the keypad. Use the interior knob to ensure the latch retracts and extends smoothly. If not, recheck step 3 (door handing). Allow the motor to complete its cycle before opening the door.
-
9. Reverse Lock Handing
This step is for adjusting the lock handing if needed, typically involving the lock stick and interchangeable cylinder.
