Safety Considerations for Operations
Read these Safety Considerations for Operations carefully before installing the air conditioner or heat pump. Ensure the unit operates properly during startup. Instruct the customer on operation and maintenance. Inform customers to store this Operation Manual with the Installation Manual for future reference.
Meanings of Safety Symbols:
- DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
- WARNING: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
- CAUTION: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.
- NOTE: Indicates situations that may result in equipment or property-damage accidents only.
DANGER Precautions:
- Do not install the unit in areas with flammable materials due to explosion risk.
- Abnormalities like smoke or fire require immediate power off and dealer contact.
- Refrigerant gas can produce toxic gas if it contacts fire, leading to severe injury or death.
- For refrigerant leakage, consult your dealer. Refrigerant gas can cause asphyxiation hazards.
- If equipment with a burner is used in the same room, ensure sufficient ventilation to avoid oxygen deficiency hazards.
- Safely dispose of packing materials to avoid injuries from sharp parts.
- Tear apart plastic packaging bags to prevent suffocation danger for children.
WARNING Precautions:
- Contact your dealer for repair and maintenance to avoid water leakage, electric shock, and fire. Use only specified Daikin accessories.
- Contact your dealer for moving and reinstalling to prevent installation-related issues.
- Never let the indoor unit or remote controller get wet to avoid electric shock or fire.
- Never use flammable spray near the unit to prevent fire.
- Always replace blown fuses with ones of the same specification.
- Never remove the fan guard; a rotating fan is dangerous.
- Never inspect or service the unit yourself; contact a qualified service person.
- Turn off all electrical power before maintenance; never sprinkle water or liquids on the unit.
- Do not touch switches with wet fingers to avoid electric shock.
- Do not allow children to play on or around the unit.
- Heat exchanger fins are sharp; wear gloves or cover them.
- Do not put fingers or objects into air inlets/outlets; the fan is rotating.
- Check the unit foundation for damage regularly; a damaged unit may fall.
- Do not place containers with water on the unit to avoid shock or fire.
- Do not touch air outlets or horizontal blades during swing flap operation to avoid finger entrapment.
- Never touch internal controller parts or remove the front panel without professional help.
- Be sure to ground the unit; do not ground to utility pipes or telephone grounds.
- This equipment can be installed with a GFCI for additional protection, but a dedicated GFCI is not necessary with North American grounding systems.
CAUTION Precautions:
- Do not use the unit for purposes other than comfort cooling or heating, or for sensitive instruments, food, plants, or art.
- Do not place items under the indoor unit that could be damaged by condensation.
- Before cleaning, turn off power or unplug the unit to avoid electric shock.
- Do not wash the unit with excessive water to avoid electric shock or fire.
- Avoid placing the controller where it can be splashed with water.
- Do not operate the unit when using room fumigation insecticides.
- After stopping operation, wait at least five minutes before turning off power to prevent water leakage.
- The appliance is not intended for use by unsupervised young children or infirm persons.
- Keep the remote controller away from children.
- Consult the installation contractor for cleaning. Improper cleaning can cause damage.
- Do not touch air inlets or aluminum fins as they are sharp.
- Do not place objects near the outdoor unit; keep the area clear of leaves and debris to prevent small animals from entering and causing malfunctions.
NOTES:
- Never press the remote controller buttons with a hard, pointed object.
- Never pull or twist the remote controller's electric wire.
- Do not place appliances with open flames near the unit's airflow.
- Do not expose the controller to direct sunlight; the LCD display may become discolored.
- Do not wipe the controller panel with benzene, thinner, or chemical dust cloth; use a water-diluted neutral detergent and a dry cloth for cleaning.
- Unit dismantling, refrigerant, and oil disposal must follow local, state, and national regulations.
- Operate the unit in a well-ventilated area, away from obstacles. Avoid locations with mineral oil mist, coastal salt air, sulfurous hot springs, variable voltage factories, vehicles, kitchens with oil splatter or steam, electromagnetic wave sources, or acid/alkaline mist.
- Take snow protection measures; consult your dealer for details.
- Do not attempt electrical or grounding work unless licensed; consult your dealer.
- Ensure the installation location can support the unit's weight and suppress operating sound/vibration.
- Ensure outdoor unit airflow is not obstructed by nearby objects.
- Consult your dealer if the unit generates unusual noise.
- Ensure the drainpipe is installed properly. If no water drains, the pipe may be clogged, causing indoor unit water leakage. Contact your dealer.
Maintenance
WARNING
- Only qualified persons may perform maintenance.
- Turn off all power supply switches before touching wiring.
- Do not use flammable materials or organic solvents for cleaning.
- Contact professional personnel for accessory attachment and use only specified accessories.
CAUTION
- Before cleaning, stop unit operation and turn off the breaker or remove the power cord.
- Do not wash the unit with water.
- Consult your dealer for internal cleaning to avoid damage.
- Exercise caution when cleaning the air filter, especially in high areas.
How to Clean the Air Filter
(The air filter is a field supply.) Clean when the "Time to clean filter" message is displayed. This message appears after a certain operating time. Clean at the start of heating or cooling season. Dust reduces airflow and capacity. Clean more frequently in polluted environments.
NOTES:
- Do not remove the air filter for purposes other than cleaning.
- Do not install objects other than a proper air filter in the suction inlet.
- Reset the filter message after cleaning or replacement. Refer to the remote controller manual for details.
How to Clean Air Outlet and Outside Panels
(Field supply)
- Clean with a soft cloth.
- For stubborn stains, use water or neutral detergent.
NOTES:
- Do not use gasoline, benzene, thinner, polishing powder, or liquid insecticide.
- Do not let the indoor unit get wet.
- Do not use hot water above 122°F (50°C).
