Operation
Hob Operation
General Advice:
- Pots and pans should have the same diameter as the cooking zone. Using smaller pots will lead to heat loss and potential damage to the cooking zone.
- Use lids whenever possible to save energy.
- Match the size of the cookware to the amount of food. Using a large pot for a small amount of food wastes energy.
- Use a pressure cooker for long cooking times.
- Vegetables can be cooked in a small amount of water. Ensure the pot is covered. Reduce heat once the water boils.
Gas Burners:
- To sear food, use maximum burner power initially, then reduce to minimum power.
- Some models have thermoelectric safety devices. If the flame goes out, the gas supply is automatically cut off.
- Always cover the burner crown with the cap. Ensure the holes in the burner crown are not blocked.
Ignition and Burner Operation:
- Press and turn the knob to ignite. The flame symbol indicates the power level. Turn the knob to adjust between large and small flame symbols.
- To turn off the burner, turn the knob to the off position (symbol with a crossed-out flame).
- Single-handed ignition: Press and turn the corresponding knob to maximum. The ignition spark will light the gas.
- Two-handed ignition: Press and turn the corresponding knob to maximum. Press the ignition button. The ignition spark will light the gas.
- Electric ignition only works when the appliance is connected to the power supply. If electric ignition fails, gas can still be lit with a match or lighter.
- If the burner does not ignite within 15 seconds, turn it off and wait at least 1 minute before trying again. If the flame goes out, turn off the burner and wait 1 minute before relighting.
- Always light the gas burner first, then place the pot on it.
