Stainless Steel Maintenance
Stainless steel is resistant to staining, corrosion, and rust but is not proof against them. Proper maintenance is required to prevent discoloration or corrosion.
NOTE: Do not install or store stainless steel products near chlorine chemicals.
The chromium content in stainless steel provides its resistance. Surface damage or contamination can lead to discoloration, staining, or corrosion.
Cleaning products should be used strictly according to manufacturer instructions.
Care & Cleaning
Routine cleaning removes contaminants and extends product life, especially in coastal areas. Clean crevices, weld points, under gaskets, rivets, and bolt heads periodically.
Choosing a Cleaning Product:
Use warm water and a gentle detergent or mild ammonia mixture. Rub with a soft cloth, following the polish lines of the steel, and rinse thoroughly. Some "stainless steel cleaners" may contain abrasives that scratch or chlorine bleach that dulls the surface if not completely removed.
After cleaning, apply a good quality car wax to help maintain the finish.
