Location Examples
Pole Mounting
Mounting on a pole. Ensure the device is positioned to receive the strongest possible 5G NR signal.
Wall/Glass Mounting
Mounting on a wall or glass. Ensure the device is positioned to receive the strongest possible 5G NR signal.
STEP 1: SIM Card Installation
Ensure no Ethernet cable is connected for power via PoE. Insert the Micro/3FF SIM card provided by your 5G NR ISP into the SIM card slot. Make sure the SIM card is fully inserted.
STEP 2: ETH Cable Connection
- Press down the tab of the Ethernet cable and pass it through the SIM cover.
- Turn the NR730x upside down. Open and attach the waterproof Plug with the open side facing up.
- Insert into the LAN (PoE) port of the NR730x and secure the waterproof plug.
- Screw the connector tightly into the NR730x, aligning the '+' mark with the 'O' mark.
STEP 3: PoE Cable Connection
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the PoE port of the provided PoE injector.
- Use the short Ethernet cable to connect the injector's LAN port to a router/gateway for initial configuration.
- Connect the PoE injector to a power outlet.
- Check the LEDs on the side panel for status.
Meaning of LEDs
Signal LEDs
- Green Steady: Good 5G signal
- Green Blinking: Good 4G signal
- Amber Steady: Fair 5G signal
- Amber Blinking: Fair 4G signal
- Red Steady: Low 5G signal
- Red Blinking: Low 4G signal
- Off: Not connected
Status LEDs
- Green Steady: Connected to the Internet
- Green Blinking Fast: Trying to connect to the Internet
- Green Blinking Slow: Booting
- Amber Steady: Connected to the Internet with WiFi on
- Amber Blinking Fast: Trying to connect to the Internet with WiFi on
- Red Steady: System error
- Red Blinking: Power is off
- All Blinking: Upgrading Firmware
- Off: Not connected to the Internet
STEP 4: Initial Setup with the Zyxel Air app and WiFi
- Scan the QR code to download the Zyxel Air app on your mobile.
- Scan the WiFi QR code on the device label to connect to the WiFi on your mobile.
- Remove the label from the back of the NR730x and stick it on the PoE injector. Scan the login QR code to log in to the Zyxel Air app with the default username and password.
Note: WiFi is for local management only. If WiFi is off, restart the NR730x to enable it.
STEP 5: Find the optimal signal
Use the Zyxel Air app to find the location that receives the best signal before mounting the NR730x.
STEP 6 | Mounting Options
Option 1: Wall Mounting
- Mark four points on the wall using the wall bracket and drill holes.
- Insert four dowels into the drilled holes.
- Use M4 tapping screws to secure the wall bracket to the wall.
- Use M4 round head screws, springs, and washers to attach the device bracket to the back of the NR730x.
- Align the device bracket with the wall bracket and slide down. Secure with the M3 tapping screw through the bottom hole.
Option 2: Glass Mounting
- Attach 3M stickers to the back of the wall bracket. Remove the front backing and stick the wall bracket onto the glass. Ensure the glass is clean and dry. Wait 72 hours for secure adhesion.
- Follow wall mounting instructions to attach the NR730x to the wall bracket.
Option 3: Pole Mounting
- Select mounting direction based on pole type (horizontal or vertical).
- Use M4 round head screws with spring & washers to attach the device bracket to the back of the NR730x.
- Insert hose clamps into the device bracket holes. Use a screwdriver to tighten the hose clamps and secure the bracket to the pole.
Configuring by the web user interface
Open a web browser and go to https://192.168.1.1. Enter the default username (admin) and password (found on the device label), then click Login.
Note: After configuring the NR730x, turn its WiFi off.
