IDEAL® TightSight™ Clamp Meters

Introduction

The IDEAL® 61-757 and 61-747 TightSight™ Clamp Meters are advanced, auto-ranging, true root mean square (TRMS) digital clamp meters designed for accurate electrical measurements. These meters can measure AC and DC current via the clamp head, as well as voltage, frequency, resistance, continuity, capacitance, and diode using test leads. They also measure temperature with a K-Type thermocouple and detect the presence of voltage (40V to 600V) using a non-contact sensor.

Important Safety Information: Users must adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per NFPA 70E standards. It is crucial to read and fully understand this manual before operating the meter to prevent serious injury or death. Special attention should be paid to warnings regarding Arc Flash and Shock Hazards.

Key Features and Operations

• High Voltage Warning (HI-V): Alerts users to voltages exceeding 30V.
• Data Hold: Allows users to lock a measurement reading on the display.
• Peak Feature (61-757 Only): Captures and displays the peak value of AC Volts or Current.
• MAX/MIN Feature: Records and displays the maximum and minimum measured values over time.
• Relative Mode: Enables measurements relative to a stored reference value.
• Zero Feature: Used to zero out the display for DC current measurements.
• Auto Power Off (APO): The meter automatically powers down after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life, but this feature can be disabled.
• LoZ Function (61-757 Only): For low impedance voltage measurements, helping to mitigate ghost or stray voltages.
• Backlight/Flashlight: Integrated backlight for the display and a flashlight for illumination, both activated via the SEL button.
