General Safety Precautions
- Do not expose the Inverter to rain, snow, spray, bilge, or dust.
- Do not cover or obstruct ventilation openings to reduce the risk of hazard.
- Do not install the Inverter in a zero-clearance compartment, as overheating may result.
- Ensure existing wiring is in good electrical condition and wire size is not undersized to avoid fire and shock risks.
- This equipment can produce arcs or sparks. Do not install in compartments containing batteries or flammable materials, or in locations requiring ignition-protected equipment (e.g., spaces with gasoline-powered machinery, fuel tanks, fittings, or fuel system connections).
- Ensure equipped wires are in good electrical condition. Do not operate the inverter with punctured or damaged wires.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Precautions When Working with Batteries
- If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water. If acid enters the eye, flood with cold water for at least 20 minutes and seek immediate medical attention.
- Never smoke or allow sparks or flames near a battery.
- Do not let metal contact the top of the battery, as a resulting spark or short-circuit can cause an explosion.

Installation
What's in the Box
Ensure you have the following items: Power Inverter x 1, Instruction Manual x 1, Warranty Card x 1. Contact your dealer if any item is damaged or missing.
Mounting the Inverter
The inverter has four slots in its mounting bracket for fastening to a bulkhead, floor, wall, or other flat surface (Fig. 1). The inverter can be operated in any position. For wall mounting, position it horizontally (Fig. 2) to ensure indicators, switches, outlets, and terminal blocks are visible and accessible. For installation in a moving vehicle, shock-mount the inverter on the floor (in a clear, safe area) or on a secure flat surface.
Installation Environment Requirements:
- DRY: Do not allow water to drip on or enter the inverter.
- COOL: Ambient air temperature should be between 0°C and 40°C (32°F - 104°F).
- SAFE: Do not install in battery compartments or areas with volatile fumes (e.g., fuel storage areas, engine compartments).
- VENTILATED: Keep the inverter at least 25mm (1 inch) away from surrounding objects. Ensure ventilation areas are not obstructed.
- DUST: Do not install in dusty environments, as dust can be inhaled into the unit and affect the cooling fan.
- FUSED: A fuse must be applied between the battery and the Inverter.
- CLOSE TO BATTERIES: Avoid excessive cable lengths. Do not install the Inverter in the same compartment as batteries. Use recommended wire lengths and sizes. Do not mount where exposed to battery gases, which are corrosive and can damage the Inverter.
Connecting to a Load
WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD!
Before proceeding, ensure the Inverter is NOT connected to any batteries and all wiring is disconnected from electrical sources. Ensure the bypass AC input plug is disconnected. Do not connect the output terminals of the Inverter to an incoming AC source. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before and after installation.
Neutral Grounding
The neutral conductor of the AC output circuit is automatically connected to the safety ground during inverter operation, conforming to National Electrical Code requirements for derived AC sources. This connection is not present when AC utility power is present and the inverter is in bypass mode.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI)
Recreational Vehicle installations (for North American approvals) require GFCI protection for all branch circuits connected to the AC output hard wire. Additional codes may require GFCI protection for certain receptacles in residential installations. Furrion recommends specific GFCI receptacles, such as GENERAL PROTECT GROUP INC, Type DG15, or AMERICAN ELECTRIC DEPOT INC, Type G1501. Other types may not operate properly.
Hard-wire Installation
The AC wiring compartment is on the front panel.
- Remove the AC wiring compartment cover to access the AC output hard-wire (pigtails leads) (Fig. 3).
- Remove the metal wire clip from the cover (Fig. 4).
- Connect the AC output wiring to the inverter AC output hard-wire using wire connectors (Black to black, white to white) (Fig. 5). Refer to the AC Output Wiring table for gauge and length recommendations.
- Double-check all connections for correct position and security.
- Wrap the wires and place them into the compartment. Replace the cover and secure with the provided screw (Fig. 6).
- Replace the wire clip and fix with 2 screws (Fig. 7).
- Using a 5/32” hex wrench, loosen the ground lug screw on the mid-left side of the rear panel. Insert an 8AWG copper wire from this lug to chassis ground. Tighten the lug securely with a maximum torque of 35 inch-lbs (Fig. 8).
AC Output Wiring:
Line (L) | Black | Within 25 feet / AWG# 14~16 |

Ground | Green or Bare copper |
Connecting to a Power Source
CAUTION:
- The power inverter must be connected only to 12-volt batteries. It will not operate from a 6-volt battery and will be permanently damaged if connected to a 24-volt battery.
- The input current at full load is approximately 100A; ensure the battery can discharge over 100A continuously.
- The battery should have a Cold Cranking Amp rating of more than 500A.
CAUTION:
Loose connectors can cause overheating and melted insulation. Check polarity; reverse polarity connection will result in a blown fuse and may cause permanent damage to the inverter. Damage due to reverse polarity is not covered by warranty.
WARNING:
A fuse must be installed on the positive cable. Failure to do so may cause damage to the inverter and void the warranty.
Furrion recommends the following cables for optimum inverter performance:
Wire AWG | Capacity of the fuse | Max distance between Inverter and the battery |
---|---|---|
#4 | 150A | 10FT |
Follow these recommendations for connecting the battery and inverter:
- Use high-quality copper wiring and keep cable length as short as possible.
- Ensure cables are of adequate gauge for their length; performance decreases with inadequate gauge or excessive length.
- A UL-listed, DC-rated slow-blow fuse must be installed in the positive battery cable within 18 inches of the battery, as required by the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ensure terminal screws are tight, with a maximum torque of 45 inch-lbs.
Operation
To operate the inverter, press the ON/OFF switch. The inverter is ready to deliver AC power. If connecting multiple appliances, turn them on separately after the inverter is switched on to avoid delivering starting current all at once.
The inverter can operate with or without a 12V DC battery source using the bypass AC input mode. Plugging the AC power cord into a 120V power source will automatically bypass the 12V DC power source. Disconnecting the 120V input source will automatically transfer back to the 12V DC source.

Indicator | Status | Description |
---|---|---|
1. Yellow LED | Lit | Indicates the inverter is activated. |
2. Green LED | Lit | Indicates the bypass AC input is activated. |
3. Red LED | Lit | Indicates overloading, over temperature, low battery voltage, over battery voltage, or output short circuit. |

Care and Maintenance
Clean the unit with a dry cloth only. Do not use strong chemical agents or abrasive cleaners. Never spill liquid on the product. Prevent residue or liquids from entering any part of the appliance to avoid the risk of electrocution. Always disconnect from any power source before cleaning.
Fuse Replacement
CAUTION: NO USER-SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS INSIDE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE INVERTER.
The inverter has an internal fuse. The fuse will typically only blow due to serious issues like high voltage or high temperature. Do not attempt to replace the fuse yourself; contact a technician for diagnosis and repair.
Disposal of your Old Product and Batteries
The inverter is designed with high-quality materials for recycling and reuse. Observe local regulations for the disposal of packaging materials, exhausted batteries, and old equipment.
