Qolsys IQ Panel 2 DIY Installation Manual

What's in the Box?

An image shows the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 device on a wooden surface, flanked by a motion sensor on the left and several door/window sensors on the right. The panel displays a time of 10:49 AM and a 'SYSTEM DISARMED' status with a green unlocked padlock icon (?).

IQ Panel 2: The IQ Panel 2 connects users to an ecosystem of smart devices for home control. It features touchless disarming via Bluetooth (?) and a built-in glass break detector, enhanced by software updates. It includes a snap-on table stand and power supply with cable.

IQ Motion-S: The IQ Motion-S detects infrared body heat for security and home automation. It can trigger rules like turning on lights when someone enters a room or activating a siren upon detecting motion.

IQ Mini-S: The IQ Mini door/window sensor is a compact device for anything that opens or closes. It enables automation rules like turning on lights when a door is opened or adjusting a thermostat if a window is left open.

Setting Up Your Panel

Illustrations show steps for connecting the power connector, routing the wire, and inserting it into the strain-relief. Other illustrations show placing the cover, pushing it down, and inserting the table stand. Finally, images show plugging the power supply into an outlet (?), pressing the standby button, and the panel powering up to the home screen.

  1. Connect Power: Plug in the power connector, route the wire behind the retainer clip, and insert it into the strain-relief.
  2. Attach Cover and Stand: Place the top of the cover onto the panel's back plate, push it down until it snaps, and insert the table stand into the mounting holes, pushing upward until it snaps.
  3. Power On: Plug in the power supply, then push and hold the standby button on the side of the panel for 3 seconds. The home screen will appear once the panel powers up.

Installing Your Door Sensor

Installing the IQ Mini Sensor

Your IQ Mini is an ultra-compact encrypted sensor for any opening or closing.

  1. Apply the included adhesive.
  2. Remove the two battery tabs.
  3. Remove the protective film.
  4. Line up the sensor with the magnet.
  5. Secure the sensor and magnet to the surface. Ensure the magnet gap does not exceed 3/4 inch.

Installing on a Window

Diagram of a window with a magnet and sensor installed. A close-up shows the typical placement on the window frame and the moving part of the window.

When installing on a window, place the "magnet" on the moving part of the window to reduce damage risk. The configuration can be reversed if needed.

Installing on a Door

Place the "magnet" on the door and the sensor on the door frame. This helps reduce damage. The configuration can be reversed if the door trim prevents standard installation.

Installing Your Motion Sensor

Installing the IQ Motion

The IQ Motion is an encrypted infrared sensor with a 25-foot range. It's most effective when movement crosses its field of view. Recommended installation height is 6.5 feet.

  1. Open the device to remove the back plate.
  2. Remove the battery tab.
  3. Secure the backplate to the surface.
  4. Re-install the motion device to the backplate.

Wall Mount: Flat

Mounting the motion sensor flat against the wall provides wider room coverage but less floor coverage, reducing false alarms.

Reduce False Alarms: Avoid installing the sensor towards windows, as external heat or movement can cause false alarms.
