OMMJÄNGE Collection
Welcome to discover traditional Swedish furniture through a contemporary lens. A unique and limited collection for anyone looking for an epic remix.
Rethink Traditional
Old folklore designs may initially appear faded and outdated. However, when exploring areas untouched by the sun, such as behind cabinets and inside clothes, a surprisingly vibrant colour palette was discovered. Crafted in long-lasting materials with impressive craftsmanship and smart functions, these pieces tell tales of a time not so different from ours. For people living in rural Sweden in the 1800s, funds were limited, and sleeping, eating, and socializing all took place in the same room. Today's small-space living may not be for the same reasons as then, but it calls for the same versatile solutions.
A Collaboration Between the Past and Now
A bride from the Swedish countryside became the primary source of inspiration for designers Maria Vinka and Matilda Hunyadi as they explored the direction of the OMMJÄNGE collection. The bride and her wedding dress, with its graphic patterns in vibrant colours, was captured by a travelling painter in 1846. Her dress was black with red textile roses and triangular shapes in green, black, red, white, and blue. On her head, she wore a crown.
With traditional materials updated in fresh colours, OMMJÄNGE offers a new take on Swedish folklore.
