Tigo TS4-A-S Installation Quick Start Guide
Brand: Tigo
Product: TS4-A-S PV Optimizer
TS4-A-S: Advanced PV Module Functionality
The TS4-A-S is an advanced add-on solution designed to equip standard PV modules with smart capabilities, including rapid shutdown and module-level monitoring.
Key Specifications:
- Maximum power: 700W
- Maximum voltage: 90VDC
- Maximum current: 15ADC
- Maximum string voltage: 1000V/1500V (depending on connectors)
Installation Guide
This guide outlines the basic installation steps for the TS4-A-S.
Installation Steps:
The process involves connecting the TS4-A-S units to PV modules and then in series to form a string.
- Step 1: Connect the TS4-A-S unit's input cables to a PV module, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Step 2: Connect the TS4-A-S units' output cables in series to create a PV string.
- Step 3: Multiple TS4-A-S units are connected sequentially to build a complete PV string.
Important Connection Note: When installing the TS4-A, connect the input cables to the PV module first, before connecting the TS4-A output cables in series. For disconnection, reverse this order: disconnect TS4-A output cables from the string before disconnecting input cables from the PV module.
Module Mounting:
For installation with frameless modules, remove the standard metal clips and secure the TS4-A unit directly to the mounting rail using the M8 mounting holes.
Wiring, Safety, and Compliance
Wiring Methods:
- Use ANSI/NFPA 70 wiring methods.
- Modules must not be installed in readily accessible locations (Canada only).
- Connectors from different manufacturers must not be mated together.
Standards Compliance:
- Photovoltaic Rapid Shutdown Equipment: NEC 690.12 and C22.1-2015 Rule 64-218.
Tigo Access Point (TAP)
The Tigo Access Point (TAP) functions as a PVRSE device, providing a wireless keep-alive signal to the TS4 (attenuator) device. The TAP must be powered from the same source as the RSI (Rapid Shutdown Initiator) circuit and integrated with the inverter's shutdown system.
Critical Safety Warnings
DANGER: High Voltage
Immediate Power Warning: Electricity is supplied to the Tigo TS4-A output cables as soon as they are connected to a PV module exposed to sunlight. Exercise caution during handling.
Multilingual Safety Alerts:
- Chinese: When connecting to a PV module exposed to sunlight, electricity will flow immediately to the Tigo TS4-A output cables. Handle with care.
- French: Once connected to a photovoltaic panel exposed to the sun, the Tigo TS4-A units will carry current. Be vigilant.
- German: When connecting the Tigo TS4-A to an active PV module, the output is immediately under voltage. Please exercise caution when handling.
- Italian: Exercise maximum caution: the output cables of the Tigo TS4-A are already powered with electrical energy when connected to a photovoltaic module exposed to sunlight.
- Korean: For safety precautions, when connected to a solar module exposed to sunlight, electricity will flow immediately to the Tigo TS4-A output cables. Please be careful when handling.
- Japanese: When connecting to a PV module under sunlight, electricity will flow to the Tigo TS4-A output cables simultaneously. Please handle with care.
- Spanish: Caution! When connecting the TS4-A output cables to a photovoltaic module exposed to the sun, electrical current will be initiated. Handle with care.
