Tigo TS4-A-O: Module-level Optimization
Product Type: Solar Optimizer
Brand: Tigo
Product Overview
The Tigo TS4-A-O is an advanced add-on solution designed to bring smart module functionality to standard photovoltaic (PV) modules. It provides optimization, rapid shutdown capabilities, and module-level monitoring, enhancing the performance and safety of solar installations.
Key Specifications
- Maximum Power: 700W
- Maximum Voltage: 80VDC
- Maximum Current: 15ADC
- Maximum System Voltage: 1000V / 1500V
- Wiring Methods: Compliant with ANSI/NFPA 70.
- Standards: Certified as Photovoltaic Rapid Shutdown Equipment per NEC 690.12 and C22.1-2015 Rule 64-218.
Important Note on Installation: Modules must not be installed in readily accessible locations (Canada only). Connectors from different manufacturers cannot be mated with each other.
Tigo Access Point (TAP) Integration
The Tigo Access Point (TAP) is a PVRSE (PV Rapid Shutdown Equipment) device. It communicates wirelessly to provide a keep-alive signal to the TS4 (attenuator) device. The TAP must be powered from the same circuit as the RSI (Rapid Shutdown Initiator) and must be tied to the inverter's shutdown sequence.
Safety Information
High Voltage ⚠️ DANGER
- The TS4-A-O features Class II double insulation.
- IMPORTANT NOTICE: Electricity will be supplied to the Tigo TS4-A output cables immediately when connected to a PV module exposed to sunlight. Exercise caution when handling.
- Certifications: [TÜV Rheinland Certified] [EN 62109-1 Certified].
Installation Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps for installation:
-
Step 1: Connect Input Cables
Connect the input cables from the PV module to the TS4-A-O unit.
Diagram Description (Step 1): Shows a PV module with its positive (+) and negative (-) output cables being connected to the input terminals of a Tigo TS4-A-O unit. -
Step 2: Connect Output Cables to String
Connect the output cables from the TS4-A-O unit to the solar string.
Diagram Description (Step 2): Depicts the output cables from the TS4-A-O unit connecting to the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of a solar string. -
Step 3: Connect Multiple Units in Series
For a complete string, connect multiple TS4-A-O units sequentially.

Installation and Disconnection Notes
- Installation: Connect the input cables to the PV module before connecting the TS4-A output cables in series.
- Disconnection: Disconnect the TS4-A output cables from the string before disconnecting the input cables from the PV module.
Physical Features and Mounting
- The TS4-A-O unit includes removable clips.
- Mounting holes (M8) are provided for secure attachment.
Installation with Frameless Modules
For installations using frameless PV modules, remove the standard metal clips and secure the TS4-A unit directly to the solar rail using bolts.
