VS41 Intelligent 4-Camera Switcher
For Controlling Front, Rear, and Blind Spot Cameras
Introduction & Features
The VS41 is an intelligent 4-camera switcher designed to integrate up to four cameras (front, rear, and blind spot) with an aftermarket radio. It supports manual trigger wires (pulsed or constant) and digital control via PAC interfaces like BCI, RP4.2, or RPA through an expansion port. It also accepts analog + or - and constant/pulsed signals.
General Important Notes
- PAC Interface Integration: When used with PAC interfaces (BCI, RP4.2, RPA) featuring an Expansion Port, connect the 10-pin connector. Manual trigger wiring is not required; the interface digitally controls the VS41.
- Default Video Output: The VS41 defaults to Input 1 when no triggers are active, making it ideal for a rear (reverse) camera.
- Input Priority: Inputs are prioritized in descending numerical order. A lower-numbered input (e.g., Input 2) will override a higher-numbered input (e.g., Input 3 or 4) if both are triggered simultaneously.
- Trigger Signal Types: Input triggers can accept either pulsed or constant signals, suitable for connections like turn signals.
- Reverse Trigger Output: Provides a 150 mA 12v (+) trigger output when any input triggers are activated.
- 3-Second Delay: The last video input source and the reverse trigger output remain active for 3 seconds after the last trigger deactivates (this feature is not applicable when used with BCI, RP4.2, or RPA interfaces).
- Video Quality: Ensure all RCA connections are secure and of high quality to prevent poor video quality.
- Input Voltage Range: Positive input triggers accept voltages between 2v and 12v.

RadioPRO App Configuration
The PAC RadioPRO PC application allows for configuration of the VS41's front camera behavior when used with compatible interfaces like the GM1A. The interface does not need to be powered or connected to the vehicle to access these settings.
Front Camera Behavior Modes:
Mode | Description | Notes |
---|---|---|
Greater than 0MPH and less than *xMPH | Activates the camera input when the vehicle speed is between 0 mph and the designated speed. | *Options: 3 mph, 5 mph, or 7 mph. |
On when Shift into D until 6MPH or 30Sec | Activates the camera input when the vehicle is placed into Drive. The input turns off when speed exceeds 6 MPH or after 30 seconds. | This mode is recommended for vehicles with an automatic transmission. |
On when Shift out of R until 6MPH or 30Sec | Activates the camera input when the vehicle is shifted out of Reverse. The input turns off when speed exceeds 6 MPH or after 30 seconds. | This mode is recommended for vehicles with a manual transmission. |
Technical Bulletin: False Triggering of Blind Spot Cameras
Issue:
The VS41 may falsely trigger the blind spot cameras (Inputs 3 and/or 4) when the brakes are engaged or parking lights are turned on.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, wire a resistor with a value between 40kΩ and 60kΩ in series with the analog trigger wire corresponding to the camera experiencing the false trigger. This typically applies to Inputs 3 and 4.
Important Notes:
- This issue primarily affects hardware version V7 or lower. Version V8 hardware has this resistance added internally and should not require this fix.
- Resistors only need to be added to the specific wires that are being triggered.
Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates the VS41 unit with connections for Inputs 3 and 4. A resistor symbol is shown in series with the Green/Black wire (Input 3 trigger (-)) and Purple/Black wire (Input 4 trigger (-)), indicating the placement for the 40kΩ - 60kΩ resistor.
