Portable Cart Warning

CAUTION

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

Operation
REMOTE BATTERY INSTALLATION
- Remove the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover, located on the back of the remote control.
- Insert 2 AAA batteries according to the polarity indicators inside the compartment.
- Replace and secure the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover.
CONNECTING THE MAIN UNIT
Connect the Power Adapter to the DC jack on the back of the unit and then plug the Power Adapter into an electrical outlet.
DOCKING YOUR iPod
- Pull the 30-pin connector towards you until it locks into position.
- Insert your iPod/iPhone.
- Push back on iPod/iPhone until it rests on the backrest.
- "Accessory Connected" will appear on your iPod/iPhone screen.
"Connected to" screens:
- For iPod 4th Gen and 5th Gen nano: “Attached to Accessory"
- For iPod classic: “OK to Disconnect"
- For iPod touch/iPhone: “Accessory Connected" (it may be necessary to press "iPod” on the iPhone or “Music” or “Video” on the iPod touch to activate the "Accessory Connected" screen)
Your iPod/iPhone will charge when docked into the speaker in "Power On" and "Standby Mode."
Note: If the remote to speaker response seems very slow, other wireless products in the area may be causing interference. The remote can be manually synced to the speaker to try and find a clearer channel. See pages 18-19 for manual sync instructions.

Turn the Speaker On/Off.
ON: Press the POWER button on the speaker to turn the speaker on, or press any button to wake the remote. “Turn Speaker On?" will appear on the remote display. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight YES and press the SEL button.
OFF: Press the POWER button, or press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE button on the remote, to turn the speaker off.
I want to wake the Remote.
Press any button to wake the remote. The remote will go to sleep after 10 seconds if no buttons are pressed.
Play Music.
- Turn speaker on.
- Dock iPod/iPhone.
- Confirm iPod/iPhone is connected to speaker (the iPod/iPhone “Accessory Connected" screen will display).
- From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD and press the SEL button.
Play Music (continued).
Your iPod/iPhone menu will appear on the remote screen. Use the UP/DOWN, SEL, MENU, FORWARD, BACK and PLAY/PAUSE buttons on the remote to control your iPod/iPhone.
Helpful Hint: To resume playback after docking the iPod/iPhone or turning the speaker on, press PLAY/PAUSE on the remote or use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight NOW PLAYING from the main menu and press SEL.
Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at anytime.
Note: While your iPod/iPhone is docked in the speaker, your iPod controls (on the iPod or iPhone) are suspended.
Go to track "Now Playing.”
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight NOW PLAYING and press the SEL button. The current track will appear on the remote screen.
Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Repeat and/or Shuffle songs or albums.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD SETTINGS and press the SEL button.
Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SHUFFLE and press the SEL button. Use the SEL button to scroll between Songs, Albums, or Off.
Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight REPEAT and press the SEL button. Use the SEL button to scroll between One, All, Off.
Access all the songs on my iPod/iPhone.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight MUSIC and press the SEL button.
Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight PLAYLISTS and press the SEL button. Your iPod/iPhone is listed within your Playlists. For example, it may be called "Jeff's iPod” (if you named it) or it might have the default name.
Change the Volume.
Press the +/- buttons on the main unit or the remote control to adjust the volume.
Change the EQ setting on the speaker.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SPEAKER SETTINGS and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight EQ SETTINGS and press the SEL button to scroll between Flat, Movie, Pop, Jazz and Rock EQ settings.
Or use the EQ button on the speaker to scroll between Flat, Movie, Pop, Jazz and Rock EQ settings. Choice will display on remote under EQ settings.
Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Change the Light Bar brightness setting on the speaker.
Use the LIGHT button on the speaker to scroll between Off, Dim, Normal and Bright Light Bar settings.
Or from the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SPEAKER SETTINGS and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight LIGHTING and press the SEL button to scroll between Off, Dim, Normal and Bright Light Bar settings.
Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Set the Sleep Timer on the speaker.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SLEEP TIMER and press the SEL button to scroll between 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, or Off.
Note: Press the Menu button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Manually sync the remote and speaker.
- Turn speaker on.
- Dock iPod/iPhone.
- Confirm iPod/iPhone is connected to speaker (the iPod/iPhone “Accessory Connected" screen will display).
- From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SPEAKER SETTINGS and press the SEL button.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight SYNC REMOTE and press the SEL button.
- Make sure the remote is close to and pointed directly at the front of the speaker.
- Press and hold the CONNECT button on the speaker (approximately 3-4 seconds) until the blue LED on the front of the speaker starts flashing.
- Release the CONNECT button and press SEL on the remote once (these instructions are also on the remote screen). During the Sync mode, the blue LED will continue to flash and “Sync in progress” will be on the remote screen. Keep the remote close to and pointed directly at the front of the speaker. The Sync mode may take several seconds. When the Sync process is complete, the blue LED will stop flashing but remain lit and "Sync Complete” will appear on the remote. The remote and iPod/iPhone are now synced.
- Note: When the speaker is searching for the remote or if there is no signal, the LED on the front of the speaker will blink slowly.
- Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Play an alternate audio source through the speaker using the AUX 1 input.
Plug one end of a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable (not included) into the AUX 1 input on the rear of the speaker and the other end into the 3.5mm output on the alternate audio source.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight AUX-1 and press the SEL button. The audio from the alternate source will play through the speaker.
Note: The remote will not control the alternate audio source.
Helpful Hint: Press Play/Pause on the remote to mute the speaker while in AUX In mode.
Play an alternate audio source through the speaker using the AUX 2 input.
Plug one end of an RCA cable (not included) into the AUX 2 input on the rear of the speaker and the other end into the Right and Left outputs on the alternate audio source.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight AUX-2 and press the SEL button. The audio from the alternate source will play through the speaker.
Note: The remote will not control the alternate audio source.
Helpful Hint: Press Play/Pause on the remote to mute the speaker while in AUX In mode.
Play a movie from my iPod/iPhone on my TV using the speaker with a component (Y/Pr/Pb) video cable.
- Confirm your iPod/iPhone TV Out setting is “On” (for classic and nano only--you can find this setting in your Video settings menu).
- Turn speaker on.
- Dock the iPod/iPhone.
- Confirm iPod/iPhone is connected to speaker (the iPod/iPhone “Accessory Connected" screen will display).
- Plug one end of a component video cable (not included) into the Y/Pr/Pb input on the rear of the speaker and the other end into the Y/Pr/Pb output on your TV.
- From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD and press the SEL button. Your iPod/iPhone menu will appear on the remote screen.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight IPOD SETTINGS and press the SEL button.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight VIDEO OUT. Press SEL to scroll and choose the "Y/Pr/Pb" setting.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight TV SIGNAL. Press SEL to scroll and choose your TV setting.
- Press MENU to return to your iPod/iPhone menu screen.
- Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight VIDEOS and press the SEL button.

One (1) Year Limited Warranty
Brookstone® warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or 3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product.
A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone's property. When a store credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes Brookstone's property.
Obtaining Service:
To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions.
Limits and Exclusions:
Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. Manufacturers or suppliers other than Brookstone may provide their own warranties to the purchaser, but Brookstone, in so far as permitted by law, provides these products “as is”.
This warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by failure to follow instructions relating to product's use or the installation of components; b) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake or other external causes; c) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Brookstone; d) accessories used in conjunction with a covered product; e) a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality or capability; f) items intended to be periodically replaced by the purchaser during the normal life of the product including, without limitation, batteries or light bulbs; g) any product sold “as is” including, without limitation, floor demonstration models and refurbished items; or h) a product that is used commercially or for a commercial purpose.
BROOKSTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BROOKSTONE DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS.
