Important Safety Information
WARNING
- TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE COVER. THERE ARE NO SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE.
- TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
⚡️ The lightning flash with arrow-head symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage" within the unit's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.
❗ The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the unit.
DANGER
To reduce the risk of electric shock, burns, fire or injury:
- Always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet immediately after using.
- Do not use while bathing or in a shower.
- Do not place or store unit where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
- Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.
- Do not reach for unit that has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately.
- Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled, splashed or dripped onto the unit.
- Do not place objects filled with liquid, such as vases, on the unit.
- Caution, excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.
- Turning off the main switch does not completely disconnect power. Unplug unit directly from power outlet when not in use.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
All of the safety and operating instructions should be read, heeded, adhered to and followed before the unit is operated.
CAUTION: CARTS AND STANDS
IMPORTANT: The appliance should be used only with a cart or stand that is recommended by the manufacturer.
- AN APPLIANCE AND CART COMBINATION SHOULD BE MOVED WITH CARE. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surface may cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
- VENTILATION: The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. For example, the appliance should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings; or placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet, that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings.
GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION
Do not defeat the safety purpose of this polarized or grounding plug. The polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. The grounding plug has two blades plus a third grounding prong. These features are for your safety. DO NOT alter the plug to fit your outlet in any way. Call a qualified electrician to update your obsolete outlet.
CLEANING
The appliance should be cleaned only with a soft, dry cloth.
POWER LINES
An outdoor antenna should be located away from power lines.
OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING
If an outside antenna is connected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna-discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. See Figure 1.
Figure 1: Example of Antenna Grounding per the National Electrical Code
This diagram illustrates proper antenna grounding for a residential installation. It shows the connection of an antenna lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, which is then connected via grounding conductors to the house's electrical service equipment and the power service grounding electrode system. Key components include ground clamps, antenna discharge unit, grounding conductors, and the grounding electrode system, all adhering to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE
The appliance should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
- The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
- Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance; or
- The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
- The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
- The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged.
SERVICING
The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.
REPLACEMENT PARTS
When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
SAFETY CHECK
Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operating condition.
