Champion 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator - Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

This guide provides essential steps for setting up and operating your Champion 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator.

Step 1: Unpacking

Open the shipping carton and remove the generator.

Step 2: Remove Shipping Support

Carefully remove any shipping support hardware attached to the generator.

Step 3: Connect the Battery

Connect the two halves of the battery connector securely.

Step 4: Add Engine Oil

Add 10W-30 engine oil, up to 16.9 fl. oz. (500 ml). Do not overfill.

Step 5: Move Generator Outdoors

Place the generator in a well-ventilated outdoor area. Ensure the exhaust is directed away from any enclosed spaces. Keep all objects at least 5 feet (1.5 m) away from the generator to prevent ignition from heat.

Step 6: Add Fuel

For Gasoline: Add unleaded gasoline. Do not use E15 or E85.

For Propane (LPG): Connect a propane cylinder.

Step 7: Safety Warning

WARNING: Never start or stop the generator with electrical devices connected or turned on.

Step 8: Electric Start Procedure

8a. For Gasoline:

Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “CHOKE” position.
Press and hold the ignition switch on the EZ Start Dial.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “RUN” position.

8b. For Propane (LPG):

Open the propane tank valve.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “CHOKE” position.
Press and hold the ignition switch on the EZ Start Dial.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “RUN” position.

Step 9: Manual Start Procedure

9a. For Gasoline:

Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “CHOKE” position.
Pull the recoil to start the engine.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “RUN” position.

9b. For Propane (LPG):

Open the propane tank valve.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “CHOKE” position.
Pull the recoil 3-5 times to prime the engine.
Turn the EZ Start Dial to the full “RUN” position.
Pull the recoil to start the engine.

Step 10: Connect Electrical Loads

Plug in your electrical devices to the generator.
