Elitech RCW-400A User Manual: Temperature and Humidity Data Logger

Overview

The RCW-400A is a 4-channel temperature and humidity data logger featuring wide temperature measurement ranges and high precision sensitivity. Its large LCD screen displays time, current status, memory capacity, and recorded data. It includes an embedded buzzer and relay alarm for on-site alerts, and a SIM card slot for SMS text message alerts via GSM technology. Combined with 3G data transmission and the Elitech cloud platform, users can monitor real-time data online and manage saved data remotely via the Elitech App or web browsers. The standard accessory includes one temperature and one humidity sensor. Users can extend to four-channel wiring (two temperature and two humidity sensors, or four temperature sensors). The device is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, supporting continuous data uploading and SMS alerts even during power outages. It is suitable for use in food, pharmaceutical, and catering industries.

LCD Display

The LCD screen provides real-time information. The following elements are displayed:

(1) Power charging indicator: Shows the charging status of the device.
(2) Battery level indicator: Displays the current battery charge level.
(3) Over limit alarm indicator: Indicates if a maximum (MAX) or minimum (MIN) limit has been exceeded.
(4) Sensor channels: Rotates to display channels 1&2, then 3&4. Specific pin assignments are:
- a. Channel 1: Pins 6, 7, 8, 9
- b. Channel 2: Pins 10, 11, 12, 13
- c. Channel 3: Pins 14, 15
- d. Channel 4: Pins 16, 17
(5) Date and time: Displays the current date and time.
(6) Recording status: Shows if the device is waiting for recording ('Wait') or actively recording ('Act').
(7) Recorded points: Indicates the number of data points recorded.
(8) GSM network signal strength: Shows the signal strength for the SIM card.
(9) Elitech Cloud platform connecting indicator: Shows the connection status to the Elitech cloud.
(10) Humidity unit: Displays the unit for humidity readings (e.g., %RH).
(11) Temperature unit: Displays the unit for temperature readings (e.g., °C).

Appearance and Operation

Appearance

The device features a clear LCD display, indicator lights, and buttons. Key external components are:

Power indicator: Shows power status.
GSM antenna: For cellular network connectivity.
GSM network indicator: Shows network connection status.
View version number: A label indicating where to find the device's software version.
Not used: Indicates buttons or areas that are not currently functional.

Operation

Access the device ID: The device has a unique Device GUID (20-digit number) printed on it, often near a QR code, which is used for identification and setup.
SIM card installation and replacement: Insert your SIM card into the side slot. Ensure the logger is powered off to avoid hot-swapping issues.
Antenna installation: Connect the GSM antenna to the designated GSM antenna connector on the device.
Power ON/OFF and Charging: The device can be powered on/off using the Power ON/OFF button. It is charged via the Power connector.

Sensors Installation

The RCW-400A supports various sensor configurations:

Wiring diagram for 2 channel temperature sensors: Connect Channel 1 to pins 8&9 and Channel 2 to pins 12&13.
Wiring diagram for 4 channel temperature sensors: Connect Channel 1 to pins 8&9, Channel 2 to pins 12&13, Channel 3 to pins 14&15, and Channel 4 to pins 16&17.

- Connect 2 channel humidity sensors to pins 6, 7, 8, 9 (first sensor) and pins 10, 11, 12, 13 (second sensor).
- Connect 2 channel temperature sensors to pins 14&15 (first sensor) and pins 16&17 (second sensor).

- Connect 1 channel temperature sensor to pins 8&9.
- Connect 1 channel humidity sensor to pins 10, 11, 12, 13.

Note: Measured values will appear on the screen approximately 15 to 20 seconds after sensors are plugged in.

Elitech App

Download and Login: Download the Elitech app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) by scanning the QR code on the manual's front page or searching for 'Elitech'. Register and log in to your account.
Add Device: Follow these steps to add your RCW-400A to the app:
- Click the '+' icon to add a new device.
- Scan the QR code located on the back of the device.
- Click 'Add' to confirm and add the device to your account. The device GUID is used for this process.

Login Cloud Portal: Access the Elitech cloud platform by visiting www.i-elitech.com. For detailed instructions on cloud and app operations, click 'Help' within the platform.
Top up SIM card: Refer to the App Instruction Manual for details on recharging your SIM card. An initial free period may be offered.
