- Length of set up time is measured at first cold start. Turning ON/OFF the driver may lead to increase of the set up time.
- De-rating may be needed under low input voltages. Please refer to "STATIC CHARACTERISTIC" sections for details.
- The driver is considered as a component that will be operated in combination with final equipment. Since EMC performance will be affected by the complete installation, the final equipment manufacturers must re-qualify EMC Directive on the complete installation again. Block Diagram
The internal structure of the XLG-25 series LED driver is depicted in a block diagram. The signal flow begins with the Input (I/P), which passes through an EMI Filter and Rectifiers. This is followed by a PFC Circuit and Power Switching stages. Control is managed by a PWM & PFC Control unit, which also interfaces with Over Temperature Protection (O.T.P.) and Over Load Protection (O.L.P.). The output stage includes Rectifiers & Filter, and another O.L.P. circuit, feeding into a Detection Circuit. The output terminals are Vo+ and Vo-, with DIM+ and DIM- available for dimming control on AB-Type models. A CASE connection is provided for Protective Earth.
The switching frequencies are: PFC fosc: 50~120KHz, PWM fosc: 65KHz.
Driving Methods of LED Module
The "Driving Methods of LED Module" graph illustrates the relationship between Load (%) and output current (mA) at various output voltages (V). The X-axis represents the output current in mA, ranging from 0mA to 1225mA, while the Y-axis represents the output voltage in V, from 0V to 54V. Specific operating points are indicated, such as 250mA at 54V, 700mA at 36V, and 1050mA at 24V, and 1050mA at 22V. A region labeled "Recommend Performance Region" is highlighted, indicating the optimal operating range for the LED driver.
Dimming Operation (3-in-1 Dimming Function for AB-Type)
The XLG-25 series (AB-Type) supports a 3-in-1 dimming function, allowing the output constant current level to be adjusted using one of three methodologies applied between the DIM+ and DIM- terminals: 0~10VDC, 10V PWM signal, or resistance. Direct connection to LEDs is suggested, and it is not suitable for use with additional drivers. The dimming source current from the power supply is approximately 100μA (typ.).
Wiring: AC/N (Blue), AC/L (Brown), PE (Green/Yellow) for input; V- (Black), V+ (Red) for output; DIM+ (Purple), DIM- (Pink) for dimming.
Dimming Method 1: Additive Voltage (0~10VDC)
Applying an additive voltage between 0V and 10V to DIM+ (relative to DIM-) controls the output current. The graph shows output current (%) versus dimming input voltage. At 0V, output is minimal; at 10V, output is 100%. The minimum dimming level is approximately 8%.
Dimming Method 2: Additive 10V PWM Signal (Frequency Range 100Hz ~ 3KHz)
Applying a 10V PWM signal with a duty cycle between 0% and 100% adjusts the output current. The graph displays output current (%) versus the duty cycle of the PWM signal. At 0% duty cycle, output is minimal; at 100% duty cycle, output is 100%. The minimum dimming level is approximately 8%.
Dimming Method 3: Additive Resistance
Applying resistance between DIM+ and DIM- (relative to DIM-) also adjusts the output current. The graph shows output current (%) versus dimming input resistance (e.g., Short, 10K/N, 20K/N... 100K/N). At a short circuit, output is minimal; at 100K/N, output is 100%. The minimum dimming level is approximately 8%.
Important Note: "DO NOT connect "DIM- to Vo-". The output current could drop down to 0% when dimming input is about 0k or 0Vdc, or 10V PWM signal with 0% duty cycle.
Performance Characteristics
Output Load vs. Temperature
Two graphs illustrate the derating based on temperature. The first shows Load (%) versus Ambient Temperature (Ta) in °C, indicating that for 230VAC input, the load capacity is maintained up to approximately 70°C ambient. The second graph shows Load (%) versus Case Temperature (Tcase) in °C, showing that for 230VAC input, the load capacity is maintained up to approximately 85°C case temperature.
Static Characteristic
This graph plots Load (%) versus Input Voltage (V) at 60Hz. It shows that the driver maintains full load capacity (100%) across a wide input voltage range, from approximately 90V to 305V.
Power Factor (PF) Characteristic
The graph shows Power Factor (PF) versus Load (%) at 75°C case temperature for different input voltages (115V, 230V, 277V). The power factor remains high, generally above 0.9, across most load conditions.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
This graph displays Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) (%) versus Load (%) at 75°C case temperature for different input voltages (115VAC, 230VAC, 277VAC). THD is generally below 10% for loads above 50%.
Efficiency vs. Load
The graph shows Efficiency (%) versus Load (%) at 75°C case temperature for different input voltages (115V, 230V, 277V). The XLG-25 series achieves high efficiency, up to 88%, across various load conditions.
Life Time
The graph illustrates the expected Lifetime (Kh) versus Case Temperature (Tcase) in °C. It indicates that the lifetime is approximately 100Kh at case temperatures up to 60°C, and gradually decreases as the case temperature increases, reaching around 40Kh at 85°C.
